Also Fern has an extremely hard time saying how happy she is, but you have to watch closely at her body language. She may say she is "doing fine" but she'll gleefully sway her arms while walking or she'll start lightly tapping someone with her fist while pouting if they embarrass her

If we say that with himmel it was like 1 week for frieren, and we know they were literally 10 years together, then for fern that she knows since child (maybe 5 or 6 years old) to 16 when they start traveling together (already more or less 10 years has passed) and in the final of the season in the anime now fern is like 18 to 20 years so we can say that if 10 years were a week then +-14 years should be 1.4 weeks knowing fern!! That is 9.8 days 😅 almost 10 days!!!

Fern wasn’t the one who says the date is mid. The guy who made this short is. She said the date was disappointing because Stark wasn’t the one who picked out the places but she’s happy that he’s put in the effort.
To be fair, what she said is the usual dedinition of "Mid" people use on the Internet: "It is not special, but that dont mean i didnt like" Of course, she didnt call it "Mid", it would be very strange for them to use modern slang, but the meaning is not far off

Ok, I will explain the before, during and the end of their date (the before is how they just decided to date, I will just skip the during their date as the mangaka didn't give a fk about what they did during that time and I will fully explain the end of their date) The chapters are 66 and 67 So Let me tell you the date Before: While Frieren is always relaxing in the hot springs, they say that they will stay there for two more days and tomorrow, Fren is free and Stark is planning on where he will go but Fern said to "I said, I am free tomorrow, pls look after me" (Hinting that she wants to be with him tomorrow) and while he didn't get the meaning between the lines, he said that they should go on a date (Just so he can tease her) and she dropped her book from what Stark said and he clealy he thinks he is dead for teasing her but to his shock...she said "Okay" and left the room, Stark is flustered about what just happened and got the help from SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE EXPERIENCE ABOUT LOVE (That Lovable Elf😂😂😂) and she helped him out and Stark asked how she knows what Fern may like those places and Frieren said that she doesn't know, Heiter does (Fern's adoptive father and the Priest in the Heroes party that defeated the demon king) and she just remembers what he said to find the places where Fern would like to go (pretty bittersweet you know😊😊🥲) Ok now we are going to the during (Dont expect this will be long😅) They went to the marketplace, ate bread, walked around again, ate desserts and went to the cliff with railings Finally, the End of their date: They went to the cliff and she said the scene was very lovely and Stark saw that she didn't smiled even one time during the date and asked that did she not like the date but Fern said it is not like that and he said that why she didn't smiled even for once but liked the places they went The reason why she didn't loved the date is because it lack a Stark-Sama vibe (meaning they didn't do the things Stark would normally do) and he confessed that he got the help from our lovable elf and she asked "why did you do it" which Stark said "to make you happy after all" since they are in a date so she was a bit dissapointed about the date but was happy because he used his brain for her (I am NOT insulting Stark, she said it OK😂😂😅) So Judging the date, her emotions and comments, I can say she rated the date a 6/10😅 Still, her smiling is a very rare occurrence so its very wholesome that Stark made her smile😊😊😊 And that is the story of their date ....it was fking long so thanks if you read the whole comment😊😊😊 A HUGE spoiler alert For Manga readers who are not there yet AND the Fans who are waiting for the Anime to have a season 2, I highly don't recommend seeing this Spoiler alert You can go back Last warning.... Every Name in Frieren is German and Describes a primary aspekt or Trait of the Character. Like Denken is a thinking man that used is wits to gain power. His name means "to think" Fern - She has pretty distanced from other people and more of an observer than an actor. Her name means just that "distanced" or "far away"

It's still so weird to watch Frieren as a German. So many random words used as names... Like I was really confused when the show was announced because the title was just "Freezing - at the journey's end" and I thought it was some shit in extreme Ice, but it turns out it's just a name.
Iirc their nanes are meant to describe a keo component to their personality, for example frieren has a colder disposition And how denkin thinks about everything and is always analyzing, so his names is something about thinking (im not german so forgive any misspellings)
Being fair, this part is before they leave the City of Mages, so anime will probably not include it in the next season, or they will make it a Flahsback episode
Fern would have preferred this actually. She wanted to spend a day learning about Stark and enjoying being with him and instead she got a date where he was following a script designed after her tastes. So she was disappointed but sincerely happy he made all these efforts.
Yeah the lack of development between stark and fern after this chapter really puts me off, imo they only focus on Frieren and her desire to go to heaven (which even I forgot sometimes tbh, it isn't enough of a main focus sometimes), after that it's just silly ol' granny Frieren with her step grandchildren fighting demons and helping people. (Can't wait for vol 12 tho the sudden shift of focus to Frieren's old party really made me hyped up)
I havent seen the show, but I think fern was a slave or something and she wanted to kill herself at one point while she was still a little girl. Her only person she extensively interacts with is frieren I think. Until she meets stark. Point being that she doesnt know how to socialize so its hard for her to express emotion. Tho I heard her body language gives her feelings away.
I don't think Fern and Stark's relationship can be categorized as romantic love at this point, from both sides. This is more of a try-it-and-see. The fans ship them, but it's nowhere near sailing.

Fern never get a date, that is only the fantasy of this simp: Fern get angry with Frieren and Frieren ask Stark for help but Stark can help at all then Fern ask for food and both take her in a gluttonery fest and that is when Fern feels happy for eating lots of delicious food, nothing to do with love.
I don't ship them. I'm prefer them to be like brother n sister relationship, without any kind of romantic feeling. I like fern character but don't ship her with Stark.
