There are a lot of altars raised for oaths, Genesis 15 verse 8-12. Well of seven oaths Genesis 21 verse 27-28. Jeremiah 34 verse 18 says covenants are formed this way. The fertility thing and god’s promises seem to line up.

My family were missionaries to a very dangerous area in the Carribean. As a child, I listened to my dad tell churches that if God wanted his wife and/or kids to die on the mission field, that was fine. He put us in dangerous situations and I was often left alone (from the age of 10) to guard the house from thieves when the rest of them went to church at night. We were robbed so many times. I honestly didn't expect to survive to adulthood.

Looking back the days I used to think these missions were heroic thing to do for a God, is regretful. Logic thinking should’ve been what a God wanting people to die or be in danger for him, poor children being involved by indoctrinated parents!

The bible has been so misunderstood. The God in the Old Testament is the elohim, not God, but they came from the stars and our ancestors that they were God. Anunokie is what they are more known as ..I know Christians can't except that this is true so they keep up that act. It really needs to stop God of all God the all that is is unconditional love. God has no human emotions it is just love and not the jealous gready love humanity confuses for love. A unconditional no judgemental love of a true father. Jesus came to teach us the truth, but we messed that up to..Jesus message was simple love ❤️

It is supposed to be...beyond what we can comprehend... That does not mean that it was evil nor bad for those that practiced what they fervently believed in. Including those that were sacrificed... There is No Death... We are eternal beings and already have a relationship with the One God inside all...not hanging on a wall in a church where we beg for favors...

I asked my Christian friend if he would kill his daughter if God commanded him to and he said absolutely. So I asked him how would he know that it was God who commanded him to and not some Charloton or voices in his head from schizophrenia? He didn't answer me.

Jephthah is borrowed from the myth of the Greek Agamemnon who sacrifices his daughter Iphigenia. This Virgin daughter is the sign Virgo and she is the Palm Frond in Isaiah 9.14-15. Virgo is also Rachel the favorite wife of Jacob. As the sun passes through Virgo, Rachel "dies" and Benjamin aka Libra is born. All the bible tales take place in the Zodiac, none happened down here. The constellation Virgo is also the Egyptian Neith of Sais who is mother of all the gods and her only son is the SUN.

@@harveywabbit9541 Wow new knowledge of the myths of this book. Do you know anything about the name Sophia? The Christian group I was in will use this name on their Bible study children’s videos. They will use Caleb for the boy but the girl it’s Sophia. And when I was a believer it made me wonder why use such name for her that’s not written as Bible character!? Does this name have something to do with astrology too?

@@lh1673 The two significant dogs (calebs), in the bible, are Canis major and Canis minor. One of these dogs, probably Canis major aka Anubis became Saint Christopher. He has a statue in the Vatican museum. He is also called Hermes Anubis. Recommend Hebrew Mythology or Science of the Bible, by Milton Woolley. Saint Christopher is a handsome fellow. Have a look see.

Another fantastic investigation, but very difficult essay in the form of a book which was written by a former MIT professor and German anthropologist, is Hamlet's Mill. It receives criticisms and accolades abound, yet for me it painted a BROADER PICTURE of how valuable the skies were to the ancients AND how incredible FAR ancient sky-watching priest groups were at recording and recognizing patterns and movements of heavenly bodies. The essay is written in a kind of HEAVY scientific freeflow of thought where one has to be at least somewgat familiar with certain mythologies across the ancient world. There is a wealth of footnotes included and appendices. I will never part with this amazing tome. It doesn't matter if certain specifics of data collected have not aged well, it is his MAIN POINT that strikes the intelligent brain and heart. Overall, the essay seems to hint to a lost common mythology loosely based on a story that appears in whole/bits/fragments scattered within far ancient mythology of origin/religion. That story is the one we moderns know as Hamlet, however there is also a recurring theme in many mythologies concerning an ancient "mill" or whirlpool. The authors do an excellent job of describing correlation of myth with astronomical/astrological phenomena and far ancient constellations. We remain uncertain on the exact origin of the first constellations. They vary slightly in number depending on folkgroup and time. Highly recommended if you are curious about the topic. Strap in because it is not an easy read. You MUST have a passion for the topic. @harveywabbit9541

God's ways aren't your ways. When Abraham was told to kill his son it was also to show who God needed for prophecy to be correct. There is no other God so don't follow yourself.

Mormons practically worship Abraham. One of their scriptures is called, "The Book of Abraham." Thus, as a kid, I loved how God didn't allow Abraham to sacrifice his son. I was blinded by my belief that "if god does it, it must be good." So, it disturbs me that if I had been taught that murder was sometimes OK and if I was convinced godd asked me to kill, that maybe I would do it. Religion corrupts the human mind.

We now approach the most remarkable act of Abraham's whole life - the attempted assassination of his only son, Isaac; and this simply by the command of God! The analogy between this and the crucifixion of our Savior is readily seen: but of this in its proper place. Having prepared all things necessary and marched within three days' (three months') journey of the place pointed out by God (Aries setting), he left his two servants (the spring equinox and summer solstice) with his ass, while he (the Sun) and Isaac (summer) went forward. Poor Isaac wondered where was the sacrifice, but his father assured him all was right - that God (Aries setting) would provide it; and so, he did; for he, God, the Ram, was the sacrifice and Isaac as well. "And Abraham stretched forth his hand and took the knife to slay his son" (Gen. 22.10). Wonder what the poor boy thought of his pious daddy, when he saw the glittering blade poised above him! But the Lord called, and Abraham looked, and "behold a Ram caught in a thicket by his horns" (Aries was then setting head-first), which he seized and offered instead of his son. Thus, as the Sun went down below the fall equinox, were the Lord (summer), Abraham (the Sun), God (Aries), and Isaac and all the rest of them sacrificed and pitched into Hell (winter) together!

@@pthhhhht I believe that Ishmael was 37 when Hagar (Ha gar) carried him around as a baby. Hagar = Ha (the) + gar (flight). The flight of Hagar (as the Virgin constellation) is found in so many myths. She (as Virgo) is also the wife of Lot.

@@pthhhhht FYI Ithar or Ithra is the sun, a sun god of the Hindus, and is still the word for their Sun day. Jews use a god-name of a great people as the name of a man. The Tsur or Sur, which the Israelites worshipped, became, with the prosthetic A, Assur or Asser or Asher, and this form of the "Rock that begat thee" gave the tribe their name. Asser was known all over the East as the happy one," and the word Israel is Assur El, or Asher El, the phallus god. The "I" replaces the "A" to indicate a proper name, so it becomes Isher or Issur, just as Jacob, or =correctly Yakob, was also once a god as Akob-El, the "heel " or phallus god, but with the initial I (our J) to indicate a proper name, become Iacob. (Heel means private part in Genesis 3.15); That Asser or Asher or Isser should form Isra by metathesis is one of the changes common to all old languages. For instance, in 2nd Samuel 17.25, Jether or Ither becomes Ithra (also 1st Kings, 2.5), exactly the same change from Isser or Assur to Isra; so, the Israelites were worshippers of the Isra El or the Tsur or "pillar god." Pillar itself is simply Pala slightly altered by time, as no pronunciation stands still.

That children were "redeemed" from sacrifice with money is chilling. It suggests to me an image that there may have been a time when those who could afford to were able to redeem their first born with payments to the priests, while those who couldn't were still obliged to sacrifice them. Is this understanding consistent with the evidence? Is it likely? Or am I misinterpreting this?

The nature of the redemption is only guessed. In the neighbouring India, kidnapping children for sacrifice was common. Quite possibly a redemption closer to the firstborn was done.

If you JUST trust "the word of god" then it doesn't matter what the word of God is. It could be the most horrendous nonsense, and as long as you believe the conveyor of the message that they are, or speak for, god... then you'll follow it. This is the PERFECT setup for Satan to deceive an entire people into sin. It is in NO way humble to trust in God the way you describe. What you're ACTUALLY saying is that you somehow are IMMUNE to making mistakes in who to trust, and everyone who doesn't trust what you trust deserves to burn and suffer for all eternity. I cannot think of anything less humble than that.

@Bible-Christian to put the above short, you do not have a way of distinguishing between a falsehood pretending to be from God, and something that is really from God. If you just trust no matter how little sense it makes, then you have NO defense against falsehoods in God's name, or even if God himself is lying about his goodness. He could be promising you all kinds of good things and just be lying. You don't have a way to know. That's a major problem.

Pharoah had the slaves under lock and key. And God through Moses told Pharoah to let His people go, ramping up the punishment. If the Israelites had fled and Pharoah and Egypt had taken a snooze, then once Egypt woke up from their siesta and found out Israel had left from their lands, they would hunt down the slaves and kill them

Why do you think they were under lock and key? If everyone were asleep, they could probably slip away and take whatever they could carry. According to the bible story, the Egyptians did try to hunt them down, so Gods way did not prevent your concern.

If Israel had slipped away and robbed Egypt, then they would have sinned but also, Egypt would continue to chase them even across the Red Sea until they were found and killed/reenslaved. But also it was to show God's great might over the "gods", the idols of Egypt and the world

I’ve just came to that conclusion, after going through the 3 Abrahamic religions, being raised a Catholic/Christian, flirting with Islam & then converting to Messianic Hebrewism. I have in recent times grown disturbed in my spirit by what I studied and tried to live out, strange rituals and unquestioned attributes of God (short-tempered, quick to kill but “outlaw murder” unless sanctioned by him, tyrannical & unforgiving for the most part). The scriptures has a multitude of oddities & contradicting evidence to suggest that what we’ve been taught in these religions is a charade. But it appeared the Gnostics were aware of this treachery by the priesthood of old and taught freedom from their religions, for which they were persecuted. Long live the Gnostic tradition

The "test" of Abraham has been convincing enough for me that it was common place to sacrifice humans in that ancient society. Even if the story is symbolic of abolishing tb his practice, it demonstrates that it used to happen.

it still happened after... God sacrificed Jesus so they say for an all loving God, he sure is brutal.... torture and kill your offspring to redeem your favorite creations being omnipotent, God couldve just snapped his fingers and given redemption. I think we made God on our image; humans never seem to tire of blood (i.e., war) and vengeance (is mine sayeth the lord).

Read all Bibles of the same book and then make a conclusion. The book of Elijah and Ezekiel tell of a troubling time in the land of Zion(Jerusalem) when it split into 2 Kingdoms. And that the neighboring Kingdoms the Canaanites were battling them for years. Later stopped to then diplomatically implement their way of life and religion/Culture into Jerusalem. Thus the story of King Ab of the northern kingdom of Israel and Queen Jezzabet of Phoenicia with the Kingdom of Judah in the South. At this time Israeli people were to not liking that they were separate from the other nations thus began to adopts ways of life to assimilate. But all were futile for the Israelites raised up from their sneaky Opressors and finally installed the Israeli way of life in Jerusalem for Israelites.

What I think that guy may have been trying to say is check this guys work. I just reread Ezekiel and he never said that. That was after God pulled them out of Egypt. They ended up defying God even though he had just saved them from slavery. They began making sacrifices to Baal and worshiping the idols that they had previously. Shocking really he’s pushing that as fact. And your just taking some random you tube as fact without fact checking He didn’t give them laws they couldn’t follow this documentary left out a bunch of key words. Read it yourself! God was basically saying if you want to live this misery of pagan god worship them so be it. I’m only at 1 min and 26 seconds and I’m like what? That doesn’t sound right let me check and he even notes in his some changes were made. Not what it says at all. They were profaning his name because they started doing that stuff in HIS name God gave them over to the rules and statutes of their ancestors and the surrounding idolatrous nations. Those rules, which led to death, were the opposite of God’s life-giving rules and were a judgment in themselves. Can’t believe everything we see on tv. We should do our own research

So the goal was imoral (forcing people to worship ME) the means were imoral (Lying, requesting child sacrifice, human sacrifice, terrifying them...), and the reasons were imoral (I need to be the only one being worshiped). How is this god better than other pagan gods that are villified in the Bible? The ppl who misrepresent the Bile the most are christians, becasue they try to fit their god with the preconceived ideas or the preconceived ideas of others, and try to fit their god in that box when there are so many instances it doesn't fit.

Interesting. I knew about the old testament human sacrifice thing, but I've never thought about it as the thing that gets inverted in the new testament with god sacrificing his firstborn for us, rather than us sacrificing ours for him as it was in the oldest stories. Part of a larger set of inversions in the new testament. Likely a post-hoc rationalization for Jesus' being crucified, I'd say. Since it doesn't seem to be a very pronounced thing in Mark, which is the first gospel we know of.

I started reading the Bible as a young teen. There was so much talk of sacrifice that I could not accept that it was the real word of God. It didn’t add up to me. When I saw the movie “Jesus of Nazareth”. When I was about 13, everything made sense to me. I believed in Jesus and unconditional love. Of No judgment and kindness for one another. That resonated with me and always has. I hadn’t gone back to the Bible since. I want the truth that was hidden from us.

I was told that yweh was a better god because he wanted his sacrifices killed before they were burned😮 Ultimately I realized from reading the bible ALOT that the difference between the old and new testament is an irreconcilable chasm and I never could be a christian as long as it included that cruel punishing horror of a "God" being deified.

Yes in our language מלך would mean King. Lots of ancient cultures (like the animal kingdom) have a ritual of a battle or sacrifice when the King becomes old. Sometimes someone will challenge the leader when they get old - there are various purifications, moral and ceremonial sacrifices or rituals written in ancient belief systems. So maybe this is about the death of the outgoing king ????

Thanks for the comment. I believe the text is sufficiently vague to put his age anywhere between 13 and 37, and the fact that it calls him a na'ar implies that he is still a child or youth. At any rate, the main point of including the aqedah, particularly in Stavrakopoulou's book, is the context it provides regarding the question of whether firstborn sacrifices were actually an act that might been considered efficacious or reasonable of God to demand.

Even if Israelites were sacrificing their firstborns to God, that doesn't mean that it is God who ordered them to do it... And if it was true that it is ordered by the law to sacrifice your firstborn, it would have been a common practice in Paslestine especially after the return of Babylon since a lot of atheist scholars believe that the books of Moses were compiled during those times. Greek historians or other external sources from peoples of the neighbouring nations would have certainly mentioned it...

You're absolutely right, Daniel. According to Stavrakopoulou, the origins of circumcision in the Bible are closely bound up with the Passover story, and the blessings of offspring conferred through circumcision show that it performed a similar function as the firstborn sacrifice. Genesis 17 is explicit about the link between the circumcision covenant and fertility.

@@JopJio That's an interesting thought. I don't think any Bible scholar doubts that sacrifices were a big part of Israelite religion. So the statement by Jeremiah in 7:22 that God never commanded sacrifices at all is puzzling. Maybe it's hyperbole, or maybe Jeremiah is just opposed to the Israelite law in general. In 8:8, he famously condemns the "lying pen of the scribes", implying that the scriptures themselves have misled the Israelites. The other passage is Amos 5:25, which implies that the Israelites did not perform sacrifices in the wilderness. I honestly don't know what to make of that, and I'm not really satisfied with the explanations I've seen in commentaries. (Basically, "Amos didn't really mean that.")

If the Jeremiah passage really means what it seems to mean, that God didn't command sacrifices AT ALL when he brought his people out of Egypt, this would be evidence for at least a big part of the Mosaic law having been written fairly late, by the "lying pen of the scribes", otherwise this contradiction would have been glaringly obvious and Jeremiah would have been accused to be a false prophet. I've also come to the conclusion that the story of Abraham represents in a mythical way an ancient memory of how humanity transitioned from human to animal sacrifice.

But the Lord called, and Abraham looked, and "behold a Ram caught in a thicket by his horns" (Aries was then setting head-first), which he seized and offered instead of his son. Thus, as the Sun went down below the fall equinox, were the Lord (summer), Abraham (the Sun), God (Aries), and Isaac and all the rest of them sacrificed and pitched into Hell (winter) together!

Unfortunately that's the ONLY way to avoid the lake of fire (which wasn't created for man, but for the devil and his angels). Sin REQUIRES blood/death as punishment... its either Jesus Christ's blood or yours. Jesus Christ is God in the flesh... He's the God in Genesis... He lived the perfect sinless life that you can't live... then took your sins upon Himself and suffered the punishment for them. Not only that, but His perfect life can now be imputed to you. It's a trade man... Jesus switched places with you because God is holy and just... meaning He MUST judge sinners justly. He can't just look the other way... someone MUST be punished because of your sins. So He Himself, God, decided to take your punishment for you. All He requires is that you believe He did indeed do that for you. Jesus Christ died for your sins on the cross, was buried, and rose again from the dead according to the scriptures (KJV). That's a historical FACT. Because of this, you must believe and put your trust in HIM alone to save you. Its not barbaric. Us men demand justice just like He does. Serial killers get the death penalty in court. But sin against God is much more serious to God than a serial killer is to us... He must punish sin... so God, the righteous Judge, declared you guilty (because you are) but decided to punish Himslef instead because He loves you. Don't reject this free gift. The whole world is designed to get you to not believe this truth... but the evidence of it being true is available to you. But you must seek the truth and honestly want to know. Well I hope this does something for you... I absolutely KNOW this is true. You may think I'm delusional or just following the teachings of men but I PROMISE you, the evidence is available and absolute. May God open your eyes and draw you towards Him.

I continue to believe a FIRST SOURCE, actually, exist, and that no religion on Earth today, understands that First Source clearly and accurately. Well said. I was indoctrinated as a child in both JW and Christianity against my will and that only made me study more and ask more questions finally it became unhealthy for my mental health and 5 or so years ago I became a good witch, I have always loved studying plants and utilizing their benefits as well as energy work like Tai Chi or even imagery magik, it is very beneficial to my mental health now too and I still believe in a god source as well like you but I no longer believe or follow religious beliefs. I have always been curious and open minded and I love being that type of person. It may not always be easy to take in knowledge but it is worth it and rewarding. I also have more compassion towards people of all beliefs now and have many different friends with many different beliefs or non beliefs and I have never been more proud to be a part of their lives because they respect my beliefs as well.

I must say as I begin here, that MythVision seems to be emerging as one of the best channels on RU-vid currently, for deep, thought provoking, discussion, and ideas that maybe, could transform people on a lasting, Spiritual, level. You see, I have always, been about Transformative Spirituality and not backward, dogmatic, religion, at all. And I find it exceedingly, difficult to be a Spiritual/Enlightened Person in a world that is either atheistic and materialistic or backwardly, dogmatically, religious, both of which I feel are unhealthy extremes. But we are Spiritual Beings in our very, nature and essence, which is why we seem to need this and find it so, difficult to root out of society completely. I support Israel and Jewish People for many, different, reasons but some of the more practical and reasonable ones are that they are entitled to the land they have occupied for many thousands of years; and the fact that for most of the past 2000 years, they have not been accepted in most places where they have resided, nor have felt safe or been safe in these places, and every group of people on the planet deserves the basic, human, rights of a sense of place and a sense of security and Jewish People should be no different. I continue to believe in an Originating Source of Some Sort, for all of life and creation, because to me, Science Itself SCREAMS, this to me. What we clearly and plainly see in this video is the evolution of the God Concept for a people who functioned according to the extremely, limited understanding of their time. What may have been highly, enlightened for them, at these times, becomes highly, backward and superstitious to us, today, with the level of understanding of the TRUE, nature of things that we have today, thus should be discarded for something more worthy of this day and age and the level of Evolution and Understanding we have reached currently, this should apply to our understanding of the Supreme, the First Source, as well. I am merely, continuing on what these people started, thousands of years ago, nothing more, really. All Spiritual pursuits should lead to Transformation for the BETTER. The evolving of the person the Being to a BETTER, and HIGHER QUALITY, person and Being. If it does not do this and indeed if it does the complete, opposite then obviously, it should be discarded. Plain common sense should dictate that much to us. Would you not agree? If this can be gained through certain religious beliefs then fine but if not they should be let go of and discarded, plain and simple. Progressives and Visionaries bring Spiritual Wisdom and Insight into existence to help Humanity grow and evolve then over time, that Wisdom and those Insights get turned into dogmatic, religious, beliefs, which over time end up doing the complete, opposite of what they were originally, intended to do. To me spirituality is about recognising that all humans are connected meaningfully, and to seek to harm another human is to lessen this meaning while to seek to help another is to strengthen it. Ideas like sacrifice and atonement seem to me to be a very dated expression of an attempt to recognise this connection. IMO there is a similar spiritual connection between us and the planet which we are a part of chemically, and between us and the universe which we are a part of atomically.

Some of these backward, archaic, beliefs may very well, have had some high, Spiritual, source at their beginning that became corrupted and dogmatic over time. I have come across so many, beautiful and wonderful teachings throughout my life, not found in the bible, that I have not stuck with but which have effected me profoundly, none the less, the Law of One being one of these. That all is ONE, in the end, and EVERYTHING, is an expression of the SAME SOURCE. I did have a period in my life when I truly, began to sense and feel others as being an EXTENSION, of myself, but sadly, life has gotten in the way of that in recent years. Thanks for the comment. As Dan McClellan pointed out in his own recent video on the topic, the main error here - if we're looking at the Bible academically - is assuming *univocality*. All these verses were written by different people who had different perspectives. As Stavrakopoulou explains in her book, there were several strategies biblical authors used for dealing with the practice of child sacrifice: 1. Say it was a regrettable necessity as punishment (Ezekiel's approach) 2. Say you shouldn't do it because it profanes YHWH's name (Leviticus) 3. Say YHWH never wanted sacrifices at all. (Jeremiah and Micah) 4. Say you shouldn't do it because it's a foreign practice (Deuteronomy) Jeremiah's approach in particular has the air of "protesting too much".

I will say while Ezekiel 20:25 is a hard verse by itself... the context around it seems to imply that "the statues given that were not good and ordinances which they could not live" is from the perspective of the people rather than God... Hence why the people did not "execute" the ordinances and "rejected" the statues, profaning the Sabbaths etc because they felt life was better under their "father's idols" rather on the hard ordinances of God... By the fact that the ordinances were good that naturally "defiled" them as they practice evil.. it should "horrify" them as they use their "gifts" and offer their firstborn.. V.27 onward seems to imply that the people acted "treacherous" in offering gifts/sacrifices on any high hills and "passing their kids through the fire" It was not good or something intentional on God's part for the sacrifice of children or idol worship.. Context is key

So after every Simchat Torah we start over at Breishit, Point is, we study sections and get to the same spots every year. I’m not too sure about these videos trying to paint God as evil when in a complete context and (what seems more mature) that the punishment for sin is not evil. It’s upto us. Child sacrifice (ritual infanticide) is super complicated. You’ve got newborns with abnormalities, pain and weakness where taking the life is a mercy from suffering and you’ve got sacrificial religion virtually all over the World. The Bible is a super valuable document for content and editing. If you consider the MesoAmerican city states and the endless warfare these monumental, ritual cannibalism societies required, it’s quite possible to view the Abraham/Isaac story as the single most important myth in the Bible with regard to social and political development. Look at Jesus, relatively modern times, they’re still wrapped up in this “take, eat, this is my blood, this is my body”. It’s nuts by today’s standards, but hey, how do you pay/feed your Priest/doctor class if you don’t bring them stuff to ritually disembowel, cook and eat?

The story itself was designed to emulate the fears of parenthood. It's a guide to raising children. The story is talking about letting go of your child as a parent always wanting to step in and correct situations for your children, but children don't learn that way. What it is saying is that you as a parent must sit by idle and allow your children to suffer the consequences of their own actions. This is the only way they truly learn responsibility. The story says that the parents must be quiet and not make a sound but if they do, they are rewarded. The reward is your children will become well equipped to deal with life. It's actually pretty simple and what a mess has been made of the story. Instead of wisdom the general public only finds ugly, because you don't think.

The passages being quoted are so out of context it's ridiculous. The Ezekiel passage that they are using to claim God wanted child sacrifice, just 5 verses past says that God is punishing the Israelites for their idols, and "sacrificing your children in the fire. You continue to defile yourselves." They were told not to imitate the people's they were coming in contact with, and they were. In Jerimiah 7:31 God says child sacrifice is a thing that "I did not command, nor did it arise in my mind." The fact that Exodus 13 already told us that the firstborn belong to God, redeem them with a lamb, so when restating the same things in Exodus 22, arguing that it doesn't say redeem them with a lamb is just a dishonest way to be reading the Bible. It's going to state it again a few chapters forward but we are supposed to believe that it's 3 different instructions and God means different things from the same instructions? This kind of dishonesty only works on people who don't bother to check what your saying, or just want to misunderstand what's being said. Either way you are just preaching to the choir.

Yes, Jeremiah and Ezekiel disagree with each other. Ezekiel defends the child sacrifice law as a not-good law that God gave the Israelites to punish them. Jeremiah goes to the other extreme and says it never even occurred to God. They are two different ways of dealing with what seems to have been an actual historical practice.

Because the reason to do evil has been the same for each and every human being since the beginning of humanity: Fear. People in Antiquity felt an existential insecurity and dread that we can't even imagine. They were completely at the mercy of the elements, diseases they couldn't understand, natural phenomena that struck them unexpectedly, and so on. They tried to make sense of it and suspected agency behind those events. So it seemed only logical to try and appease those agents, whith whatever seemed necessary. That those gods weren't seen as kind, loving and caring was simply due to the living circumstances they experienced.

It seems that taking things out of context can actually lead on strange path. In Ezekiel Yahweh is showing how they're rebellion is leading to despicable actions like child sacrifice. Without the Moral Compas of Yahweh humanity becomes superstitious and invents religion. In the Jeremiah passage quoted above, Yahweh flatly declares that child sacrifice is a thing that “I did not command, nor did it arise in my mind” (Jer 7:31) Let's Read all the Bible and Let's pray for understanding. The Truth should be in our hearts in order to remain pure of bias. Otherwise we are always motivated by something else, whatever that is. Jesus is the Truth! Blessings!

Civilization itself obviating our omnivorous need to hunt gives rise to intraspecies predation (irrational barbarism toward the culturally approved ideological outgroup). Child sacrifice (currently iterated as SIDS) is endemic to civilization because postpartum psychosis is a wish for the child to become "unborn". The first pregnancy is the most stressful, and because people with psychopathologies regard others as extensions of themselves it necessarily follows that disturbed mothers have a harder time regarding infant boys as Mini-Mes. The frequency with which fathers can think of no better name for their eldest sons than their own shows us there's quite a bit of parental psychopathology persisting. Seems apparent that primogeniture emerged to put a stop to royal fathers feeling threatened buy sons who were their potential usurpers. And also seems apparent that in order to cooperate within our ingroups we regulate masks of sanity by directing our darker impulses according to fixed political and religious delusion. So everybody's a psychopath to somebody and some people are even psychopaths to almost everybody. It's not the conscientious cooperative people who need guaranteed third-party forgiveness in an imaginary next life. It's the ones doing the most unforgivable shit with the least remorse in this one. Anyone who can't figure out that any woman who blamed her infidelity on an angel could have induced a messianic delusion in her illegitimate child needs that crutch too badly to critically examine it.

The baptism by Air = spring ( Aries thru Cancer), and the baptism by water = winter (Sagittarius thru Pisces). The Solomon the Sun, is divided into the trinity of Winter (Sol aka Sol Invictus) spring (Om/Aum (Air) of the Hindus and On aka summer and the Coptic sun. So nice that the writers tell us that Solomon the Sun, is Roman/Latin, India/Hindu, and Egyptian.

In early Native American cultures, the first born was often miscarried because the mom was so busy trying to pay the relatives back for the recent wedding. Relatives would give the couple flour for the wedding feast, and the wife was expected to pay them back by grinding corn, which she did in a matate (a big flat dished out rock) while kneeling on the ground on her knees. It would have been a work-out involving lots of abdominal crunches in basically the wrong position for pregnancy. I wonder if the Phoenecians had an idea that the first child was the most difficult for newlyweds to take care of, since they wouldn't have been very established yet as a household. Maybe the idea of child sacrifice came out of an older and more pragmatic belief that if they gave the first one to the gods, they would have have more time to prepare themselves for all of the others.

Why is this more horrific than drinking the blood of an innocent being that you take part of the guilt for driving the nails of a crucifixion and are eternally damned if you don't kneel down and submit? Abraham was not the first or only one to follow this Religious Practice of a powerful transcendent "technology of inter-dimensional super natural power procurement". Giving offerings to God including children could be a metaphor for giving offerings to the Levite priests. So giving your son to the temple priest could be the same as giving to God. Did not someone get murdered for spilling his seed on the ground? That means that Yahweh was desperate for the Israelites to have children.

Bingo! But why would they be horrified? I want to do more digging on ezekiel because I was under the impression after reading the bible that YHWH was the only god against human and child sacrifice. That was his reasoning for warring with baal according to the scriptures. Because they were giving human sacrifices to Moloch and Baal and YHWH doesn't condone it.
