Fun fact: the couples are actually just actors re-telling stories of how actual elderly couples director Rob Reiner interviewed fell in love. I think it's still pretty sweet though. It gives all of us hopeless romantics a sense of wonder for the 'forever' we always knew we wanted. And, it makes the movie (which was already so so so amazing) even better.
@@matthewsawczyn6592 i think they tried to have the actual people do it on camera and they just couldn't get it to work. Some of them were very uncomfortable being on camera, so in the end, Reiner decided to use actors instead.
These actors are 100% believable to me. There wasn't a single moment where I was like "that didn't look right". Perfect delivery, perfect chemistry. I can't get over how well these interviews are made.
Perfect film. My favorite couple is the one that talks over each other. So adorable, haha. But they're all great. "What'd I say?" haha. "I knew the way you know about a good melon.". "We married 55 years." Ugh. I'm not crying. You're crying.
My parents often spoke like this - - same thing at the same time, without listening to each other. Not this old. Mom passed away two years ago. I laughed at the couple at 2.10. Reminded me of Dad.
i love billy’s character break after meg says “on the side” about the chocolate sauce...their interview was completely improvised and she’s so clever to have thought of that 🥺
Funny how that works out. It took Harry and Sally 12 years after meeting to find their way to each other. It only took me and my fiance 15. We're going to be married almost 15 years to the day that we met. 12 years since we became friends.
This one always reminds me of what "home" is, and that "home" is love. Even if they didn't grow up knowing each other, it can be so comforting sharing the same memories (of a time period or neighborhood) and group of people. Sharing the same culture or values may seem boring to some, but ohhh what comfort and trust of being "home."
I was feeling lonely about not having a relationship and I was laying in bed, but then right as I felt that way, my dad decided to throw on this video on RU-vid without even telling him how I was feeling. I felt like it was a sign from the universe that love is out there for me. I just have to be more patient and believe that it will happen at some point. Maybe I’ll have a beautiful story to tell about it some day like these people who lived these stories in real life did.
@@SamuelBlack84 hey, please don't sell yourself short. You can definitely find someone out there for you, no matter who you are. Sometimes it's just about being patient with it, and don't think that you're the problem if you have a hard time finding it. Dating and romance in general is just really hard honestly it's hard to find someone who you're compatible with in that way and who will be loyal, but don't lose hope! There's still time
This is one of those moments where you don’t understand the purpose of these scenes the first time you watch the movie. But when you go for a second viewing, you get the whole gist of it. And one of this classics strengths is the screenplay. You’re not just seeing random events unfold as a series of vignettes. They provide a definite story!
The second and fourth couples (high school sweethearts & born in the same hospital) are by far my favorite of all the old couples!!! But of course, they’re all great. And I love how Harry and Sally become one of the couples at the end, showing they are destined to go the distance just like the other older couples. Also the fact that she’s converted him to preferring sauce on the side like her … brilliant!
two people who have unusual quirks about them that would drive other people crazy..But with time and effort. They both came to place of acceptance of how each other is and at the end The ending scene of the conversation between both was reciprocated and both complimented each other. I love Harry how he became her too by explaining why LOL Good communicating skills at the end
My favorite movie of all time......I was a college sophomore when I saw this. Now...I am....wow...old.... Bruno Kirby...Nora Ephron ...Carrie fisher dead. Not to mention most of these senior citizens at the beginning of the film. Life moves on fast......
I was working at a yogurt place in the late 80's when the girl from the pizza place next door bumped into me at a college library neither of us went to but studied at. Still missing you LK, now LKD, love D.
I love this movie as a whole, but these scenes always bring a tear to my eye. I'm 23 years old and I cannot wait to put a ring on my girlfriend's finger.
*I love the Italian couple. Reminds me of the dynamics between my mom and dad when they were alive. They never got divorced but hey, I don't judge, each to their own. Not everyone married their soul mate the first time*
1:22 this one is the best couple. He remembers almost nothing and she remembers everything. And I say..... what did I say? that one breaks me jajajajaja
My favourite scene from my favourite rom com. One Christmas a long long time ago my late husband gave me a bound book of the script of WHMS. He used the cover of the dvd movie that was among my dvd library to put on the cover of the book. I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve watch the movie. When I look at the book I feel happy and sad at the same time. Nora Ephron was a wonderful writer of romance. RIP.😂
I just read that the guy in the second couple is Charles Dugan, the father of Dennis Dugan, the director of quite a few Adam Sandler movies, including Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy and both Grown Ups movies, among others.
+Yiting Wang The couples are actors, unfortunately not real couples! But all the stories are 100% real that the director and writer found interviewing different people about their stories. :)
I know!! aren't they the cutest??:) Leonardo DiCaprio actually compared his relationship with Kate Winslet to these old couples... I was like I can't... this movie is literally their life story...

I love this movie as a whole, but these scenes always bring a tear to my eye. I'm 23 years old and I cannot wait to put a ring on my girlfriend's finger.
