A lot of times I’ve been working on a painting for a long time I can get so used to looking at it that it makes it hard to see what it needs. Is it finished or not? How do you tell if it needs anything else - including one of my favoring tips, using the black/white feature on your smartphone.
And lastly we will check to see if the painting needs some of those last finishing touches.
In this video I want to show you what I do and share why the solution sometimes comes to us from an unexpected place and sometimes when we aren’t painting and doing something completely different.

yes i feel the moon works well, from a distance it looks like a piece of cloud is infront, softening it nicely 👌 up close you dont get that impression. thank you 😊

As a learner who's interested in the other media as well, I've practiced a lot with watercolour and with countless failures I feel that when I like something about the work in progress, that could be the point to stop because carrying on I'd be at high risk of stamping out what I liked. The pastel Idea I've taken on board, thanks.

It’s a great painting, as usual for you. Besides adding the moon, maybe mute the brightness of the green beneath the moon?

Hi Marie Louise! I'm Margarita.I found your channel yesterday, and I've subscribed :) , I love your videos and your art. I'm planning on starting with acrylics soon, I already draw and paint with watercolors. I see you use a variety of brands. There are some brands I find here (I live in Brazil). I know that artists' grade acrylics are more pigmented, yet more expensive. Do you have a favourite brand? I like W&N watercolours a lot, and I was thinking about using their acrylics. They have the Galeria line which is less expensive. I was thinking about maybe getting some of those, but I'm not sure because of that pigment thing I mentioned before...What do you think?

I really like W&N also. Their Galleria line is great and I would definitely recommend them. Happy painting 🎨☀️

I like the moon! But I love painting the moon so that makes me a little biased. I'm so glad to see you back making videos. ❤

The softened moon is beautiful. Could it be faintly reflected in the smooth foreground area? Or would that be distracting? 🤔 Using soft pastel to try out such ideas is genius. I presume it washes right off to allow you to paint the finishing touch in acrylic? xo
@TheDanishPainter
@TheDanishPainter Месяц назад
Yes exactly - the pastel can be wiped right off and I can repaint it in acrylics if I was it to be permanent.

Love the moon! If you decide to keep it, will you leave the moon as a pastel or redo the moon in acrylic paint?
@TheDanishPainter
@TheDanishPainter Месяц назад
Yes I have to repaint the moon in acrylics if I want it to be permanent.

Okay thank you wasn't sure if you would add a fixative and keep it in pastel. Love your art so much and always learn from your videos!

Yes, the sky needs some drama. It’s a large area but kind of flat.
