When is it Appropriate to Wear a Hat?

Great video! My son asked me why you can’t wear a hat or your hood up in church, and your video was perfect to elaborate on my response that it’s a sign of respect.

Unless you are a little leaguer or big leaguer a man should never wear a baseball ball cap. Just my opinion. I wish dress hats would come back in to fashion. I'm doing my part.

I have light sensitivity from eye disease and nearly always wear hats. I adore my collection!

I hijacked my husband's RU-vid account just so I could comment. Last weekend my daughter and I were in an antique shop. I found the prettiest bucket hat there! It reminds me of an English riding hat. It's made of wool and has a perfect black bow with a diamond circle for a clasp. It will be great for Winter attire, I think. Really love your channel, Dearie!❤

In my opinion as a man, I understand your point and agree with it 99%. I acknowledge that I've used it inside in different occasions (knowing that I shouldn't) mainly because I don't want to look messy. The only reason that I use hats is so I do not have to fix my hair in the morning and whenever I have to take it off I feel uncomfortable because I feel my hair doesn't look presentable. Maybe there are some underlying insecurities that I have to work on...? On the other hand, I love how black looks on you and I absolutely love the combination with both hats plus the cherry on the top (the pearl necklace). You look so bold and elegant. Best wishes, Rod

I've never heard before that women were not to remove their hats, except for symbolic reasons, indoors, but, come to think of it, I do recall that in movies set in older, more hat-enthused periods of history, womens elaborate hats are just sort of treated as unremoveable parts of their outfits, when they went visiting - I guess stemming from a wish to keep complex outfit in tact. I wonder too though, how much of this has to do with men traditionally serving more active or working roles outdoors,while women traditionally worked or socialized indoors. Perhaps men'shat were more associated with wheather and dirt protection,and so came off with the coat. Meanwhile women with extreme wealth weren't, as a rule, wearing hats for protective funtions, except to shade their skin, and women poor enough to be wearing protective headgear indoors for function such as for working in messy kitchens or in farm work were working constantly enough in the home that it made sense that their bonnets and headscarves stayed on regardless of activity, being exchanged with fresh ones whenever needed. All of this is guesswork. Anyone know how much I'm guessing right here?

My Great Grandma the Marchioness of Stickapopple always said that if you want to get ahead! Get a Hat ! She usually wore a bowler hat with an ostrich feather prominent and at a rather jaunty angle, she became revered by her nieces and known as Aunty Jaunty, Mad as a bucket of Frogs !!!!
