My rule of thumb as a Christian is to see Gun as a life saving tool, not a life taking tool. Taking lives with guns are what criminals do, saving lives with guns is what we law abiding citizens do, and that's the only way we can use a deadly force, yet answer to God that we saved lives doing so. Stay vigilant my brothers and sisters, may we be prepared, but never needed.

There's a lot more than just hiccups. What did you post online before the shooting? We had a bar owner here in Omaha that posted up a lot of stuff about his bar was defended with guns he would shoot you if you broke in his bar during the civil unrest oh he was just on there preaching the second amendment and he was going to fix you dead if you came in his bar. It worked perfectly no one came in the bar he didn't have to shoot anybody to protect his bar. Unfortunately he didn't want to protect his bar he wanted to shoot somebody during a riot. So we went on the public sidewalk out in front of the bar and picked a fight and then after he picked a fight he shot and killed the guy in front of his bar and he went to the front of the judge. The judge looked at all of his post on social media about shooting someone that broke in his bar and the judge was not favoring him because he went out in a public Street and pick the fight so he could shoot somebody. We will never know what the judge is going to say because the second amendment fellow that wanted to shoot somebody shot a second person himself.

@anonymouslee2083

@@rileymurphy308 it’s vague on purpose. If the law is too specific, it could create loopholes that basically give people who know how to exploit them a “license to kill,” or might Kobayashi Maru a good faith self defender into choosing between getting killed or going to prison. It’s intentionally written in a way that requires jurors to make a complex, subjective judgment regarding the intentions behind and context surrounding the act. Laws can’t clearly roadmap every possible circumstance that could arise. Crazy stuff happens in real world defensive encounters. They get extremely messy.

I've been in two situations where I had the option to draw my weapon. The first was when a guy was literally trying to kick down our door. Me and my roommates all drew on the door. But I had time to consider my options if he managed to get through the door. In the end I decided to make my gun safe and simply hold the door while my roommate called 911. The cops came and took him away without ever speaking to us. The second incident was when a guy punched through the window of my landlord's camper. I heard screaming for help so I went out to check and there the guy was reaching through the broken window. I considered getting my gun from the house, but he didn't appear to be armed. Option B was to rush him. At the time, I was still a competent fighter, but a recent injury had me doubting my chances despite having two other fighters with me. In the end I opted for speaking sternly and calling 911. He fled and I gave a report. In both of those incidents, I chose not to use my gun so for quite a while I stopped carrying. Knowing myself, it just didn't seem practical. These days, I'm back to carrying. I'm a bit older now and nowhere near as fit. Hopefully, I'll never have a need for it.

As a result, my options to get away from an aggressor is limited. My Mother is 80 and her health is no better than mine. Still, I insist that she takes me with her whenever she goes shopping so that I can protect her as well (we live in a town with few stores and no Walmart). @13B Gun Bunny: 19 years ago, I found myself in a wheelchair at the age of 48. Back surgery, but right back into that chair. Another round of cuts and hardware...and still in the wheelie. Where does one exactly carry in a wheelchair? I worked, yelled at myself, cussed, cried and wheeled into the gym regularly. After a few years, I graduated to polio crutches. Try drawing from concealment with crutches wrapped around your forearms! I worked and worked and graduated to a cane. I walked slowly and with much pain. Took 135 mgs of morphine a day. Work, work, and cut the opiates down to 75 mgs per day. Got a pit bull which forced me to walk...a LOT. Now, I can walk around the block (¾ mile) with my 55 pound girlfriend each day and usually without a cane. Nine days ago, stopped the morphine cold (wasn't helping anyway!) as I figure it would work against me if I ever had to defend myself with my sidearm. The first step is the one you've already taken: realising you're getting old and out of shape. Next step, and we all know you can do it, is to start fighting like hell to get closer to where you want to be. After all, Mama--probably others--relies on you! Not sure exactly what a 13B Gun Bunny actually is...but you've got it in you since you already have the self-preservation spirit. Go! The difference between things looking like they're gonna get bad, and actually being bad, is usually literally only a second or two. It's truly ridiculous that an uninvolved bystander's usually totally uninformed (or biased--or both) testimony can be so impactful. And this gets worse the more anti-2A the jurisdiction (or just the prosecutor) is. My recommendation is never leave home without your gun lawyer in tow so you can get his sign-off before you discharge (or even draw) your firearm. Things have truly gotten that bad in some places. Just ask Kyle Rittenhouse, or the McCluskey's of St. Louis.

Mostly for my two small dogs who’ve been charged by homicidal mamma deers. But I’ve often thought - what if we get back to the truck and there’s someone waiting with a knife and demands the keys to our truck. We’re 2 women and 2 Chi-mix dogs. I gather my best response is to have my gun in hand (in sweatshirt pouch) but toss the keys and have us all back away? So long as he/she doesn’t continue to approach us? Then begin the long walk out… what’s the best answer?

There are many instances where a compliant victim has been subsequently harmed or killed. I can’t know this guy’s intent. All I know is that he is capable of using imminent deadly force and by the time that his intention becomes absolutely clear, it will be too late. It seems like the person precipitating the situation is being afforded the benefit of the doubt. FWIW, I have been in this situation and was compliant and the robber did not harm me, so maybe the best possible outcome, but it seems like I am at the mercy of the bad guy, who is has already demonstrated that he does not care very much about me.

I try to go to church every Sunday morning in Texas at a very large Catholic Church. There are no signs posted one way or another. I always sit in the same place where the emergency escape door is only a few feet away. On the other hand, I'm only a few feet away from a limestone wall with a glass window that allows me to see who has recently entered the Church. I am a senior citizen and I live alone. I'm in a position where if somebody should enter the front entrance and starts blasting away, I have two choices, I can run like a wuss and allow many young parents and their kids to get killed, or I can step aside next to the stone wall where I can get to see the entire picture on the assailant who is shooting at will at little kids, women and others. As a senior who has experienced life and may have, at best another ten years to live, what do I do? Do I run through the rear door while kids are being killed, or do I stand next the protective wall and use my Canick 9mm with a red dot? What say you?

@@papimaximus95 Actually you are full of 💩 but that is not the point. Each diocese lets the priest make their own decisions. He decides if he wants parishioners or outside security. I am the leader, the one who runs our church security. I NEVER said I was hired security. You should watch mass from home. Your cognitive decline is obvious.

You said, use lethal force only when you are threatened with death or bodily harm. I’m a little confused about a situation when someone is robbing you at gunpoint. Do you give them what they want? Because you wouldn’t jump into a shark tank over a watch or a wallet, right? Or do you fire your gun because for all we know they just want to kill you, or they’ll kill you after they robbed you.

Don't carry for yourself. Don't carry and then not protect people because you want to go home. Carrying that gun should inherently mean sacrifice. It means if there's a mass shooter we're the ones on scene until professionals show up. If there's a woman dragged into the woods at night screaming it means we're the ones going in. If you're not carrying to be that guy, leave your gun at home and save your money. Don't waste it on guns and ammo. Most of us who carry are men who are never gonna be the target of a crime we can shoot for. The people who are targeted, are either criminals themselves, or they're weak people who can't defend themselves. Literally no one in this world looks at a regular sized dude in flannel and a cap and thinks "That looks like the easiest target." What's more important to you: going home to your family, or stopping multiple people killed? Who do you care more about protecting: yourself, or the 19 year old girl who's gonna die in the next shooting if someone like us isn't there? If you have a gun on your hip and you didn't already think about the fact you might lose a gun fight and die protecting what you care about, you aren't the guy who needs to carry. If you're the guy who only cares about your family and not somebody else's husband/wife/kids/whatever, you're not the guy who needs to carry. The world needs to be safer with you around. As men, we're already almost guaranteed to be safe from violent crime if we're not criminals or living in the hood, unless there's a mass shooting, in which case why are you carrying if you're just gonna run away? Put that gun down. And no, never consider if you can physically fight someone. If it's worth fighting about, it's worth shooting about. If it's not worth shooting about, it's not worth fighting about. Losing a fight over ego (which is all it would ever be if there's no reason to defend your life) and dying for that is way more silly than dying protecting people.

You should think about a couple of things. First, what about bystanders? What happens when you are trying to do the right thing and end up killing an unintended target? Secondly, when the police show up who are they looking for? A man with a gun, right? So, if they see you standing there with a gun drawn what do you think is going to happen? They're going to shoot you, and while you are taking your last breath explaining "I'm not the shooter" they're going to be putting you in handcuffs while you die. Just a few things to think about. I used to have the same mindset until I watched an active shooter video where the "good guy" got shot by the police because he was the first person they saw that had a gun. He lives thankfully but none the less he was shot.

You can get into trouble just for pulling your weapon, in Texas anyway. The aggressor has to be considered a deadly threat. If I pull my weapon to scare them off and they call the police and they weren't a deadly threat then I am definitely going to jail and will probably lose my right to own a firearm.

Uh, hypothetically speaking, if someone _stabbed_ a thug with a pistol slide (you know they're very sharp) would that result in confiscation? There's absolutely NO consistency for the times when police take a weapon used in defense or not. Some people can walk away and some claim they need to lawyer up and wait 60 years to get it back. These are the weird invasive questions which come at total random in my head. Technically I _did_ use a gun to subdue the attacker but not in the way you might think... >.>

I'll be happy to die having NEVER fired my pistol while aiming at anything other than a paper target at a firing range. But I'm damned sure going to defend myself to the best of my ability should the need arise. I'll defend my in-laws, or my own folks, or (perhaps) someone I don't know, but I'm going to try non-lethal means first if it seems like it would work. My taxable-income gig requires that I NOT carry a firearm. I'm fine with that--there are reasons why. I DO carry OC spray in that role, by policy. In the eighteen months that I've been there, I've only unsnapped my OC holster once, and that was a fluke of sorts. I'd far rather use that than a firearm if it de-escalates the situation to manageable levels. I also carry some trauma stuff (tourniquet, gloves, QuikClot) because I'm more likely to use that than I am the OC spray, let alone a firearm.

It's so wonderful to hear you on here talking about your second amendment bad guys who you get to shoot because they're bothering you. Then we are the great defenders at the live shooter incident and wonderful people because we own a pistol and we carry it everywhere we go. Then we are only going to defend a handful of people is wonderful as we could be and as big argument as we make about the safety aspects of heavy concealed carry owners everywhere ready to shoot a bad guy at a moment's notice. Now on this only willing to shoot and defend a few people if you smuggle a gun into a gun free zone the way you were directed by a video put out by this policeman here should you shoot through somebody who's trying to get away from the guy who is chasing your kid?
