I am American. I began learning Russian at age 20 in 1985. It was an intensive program. 8-hours a day for 1.5 years essentially. Worked with the language for 2.5 years, then went to University to get a degree in Russian (BA+MA). At that point I moved to France to marry, live and work, and had to learn French. That was in 1992. It is now 2019 and after those 26 years, I can say that I command the language pretty well, and I still have a bit (cringe) of an accent. Well, it's a heavy accent, actually. But I speak fluently. My Russian fluency is terrible now. Hard to say if it was really any good. But now, I'm back to studying Russian. I am amazed at how much is still floating around in my brain. Love your channel, Marina, in Russian particularly and am amazed by your fluency in English. Impressive.

I try. Studying other languages have definitely helped. Especially, studying a Romance language will help you know to which conjugation a verb belongs and thus whether to use -able or -ible and -ant or -ent. I remember writing and having to use a dictionary to ensure that words were spelled correctly. Now that I've studied a couple other languages, it's easier.

Your right about brain cells dying, but due to neural plasticity we can still increase the neuro connections as we age.

It’s true. It’s brain’s main ability,. Our cells are dying permanently, and brain has an experience about everything. Therefrom it needs to increase number of connections and cells.

Well..this is amazing. I am 40 years now, I studied English when I was a teenager... last year I decided to change my entire life and start my process to study in USA. At this moment I am doing an MBA at the University of South Florida. I am the oldest person in all my classes, the only woman with a 9-year kid and husband, but I realize that is never late to learn something...

Marina, I do agree with you. I mean, age doesn’t matter when people start learning something new. I actually began language acquisition training of English at the age of early 40s. And three years since then, I have come to have a good command of it. Most of my native friends regard me as an advanced speaker of English. We can learn anything whenever we want. I do believe so.

Could you make a video about how you mastered your pronunciation? Not just the basic stuff like you have to watch music in English, you've got to read books in English, talk to yourself in English and so on. Could you share your deepest tips for us please, I know that there's something different from the basic stuff, do you exercise your tongue? do you have an exercise to relax your mouth? or do you have a book or someone that tells you where to put your tongue or something? because your pronunciation is insane I would like to have that pronunciation haha anyway you are my Inspiration, sometimes, people say you will not be able to speak like a native speaker if you learn after 12 years old because your vocal cords stop changing at that age and stuff like that and then I show them your videos and they say Oh My God she has an amazing accent and pronunciation haha. Have a nice day

The number eight. Turned to the side is the infinite symbol. Cuted to the half is the number zero.
