Thank you. Separate use separate clean. Like the toilet sponge is in with the dish sponge in my mind... Like you could put hot water in metal or ceramic bowls separate the sponge and then fill up the sink under the lid of the bowl so theres no cros contamination but you could keep the water hot longer by switching out the water in the sink but leaving the bowls alone

If you are paying more for cleaning vinegar its just a ripoff. Cleaning vs eating vinegar is just the concentration\percentage of acid. Just like bleach, alcohol and peroxide all come in different strengths. PS I dont use sponges at all. About once a year i buy a multipack of cheap washcloths in different colors and also a few in white. The white ones are for household cleaning. I earmark one color for dishes and kitchen countertops. The rest go into the bathrooms for bathing. This may not be glamourous but its a very workable solution.

The water isn’t dirty, it’s rusty from the metallic scrubber sitting in water for too long. Run the sponges and kitchen scourer through the washing machine. Or soak overnight, rinse thoroughly and then put them in a dish, and microwave those suckers for about a minute or the same amount of time that it takes to microwave water for a hot drink - just enough to heat up the water inside them so that it kills any bacteria and mould. DO NOT MICROWAVE THE METALLIC SCRUBBER 😳 (Obviously) Personally, I usually run mine through the clothes washing machine, when I have a load of tea towels. Then into the dryer with the rest of the load. Or you can put them outside in the sunshine (natures germ killer 👍🏽)
