Big block! 572cu but small block will do the job but y’all know what a big block just looks so good and intimidating! U open the hood n omg big block! But realistic a small block is more reliable cheaper to fix! Thank y’all for the video!

She's coming along. I swapped engines in my 98 k1500, it took me and my brother a while, but we never swapped one before. It took us 10 days working on it a little at a time around work and all the things going on around the farm at the time. Got er running though and have put 10k miles on the clock since then. We when with the forklift method as well, why not, we had on sitting there.

I remember doing engine swaps back in the day, but all I had was a rental cherry picker and hand tools... Did them in a weekend... Sure, it was 2 12 hour days, but there was only 2 of us and some beer, so that helped! Nice vid and can't wait to see the end result. Hope to see something of the Bronco in the future too!

You guys could have had a nice 383 for the same money ! We lose so much power up here at high elevation, you need to put in the biggest engine you can. That's why blowers & turbo's are so popular in Colorado. But it will be better than what you had :)

Hard to beat 350 chevy if your going to use stock trans and axles. I think it deserves some exhaust work now. I like this series because I could build something like that and it wouldn't cost me a second mortgage.

Where are you registering this? Have you considered the emissions side of thing? I really doubt you will pass with the new engine in Boulder county. You may pass the sniffer but you will fail the visual inspection. Probably best to at least make it look like it has the emissions stuff on it.

u guys bought a drag setup engine. what u needed was a setup 350 as thi is a truck. maybe one with an RV cam would work but not a max HP race cammed one. that race cam would be hidden better with an auto trans and a high stall converter. that manual ur really gna notice the lack of low end power. u need to swap to an RV cam and put in a dual plane intake for low end power. u also need the truck avenger carb if u want to not have the engine stall on steep hills. a stock quadrajet carb will work for hills also. i hope u have a light foot because if that is a double pumper (race) carb ur throttle pedal is going to feel like an on/off switch. ha.

I like this guy, the mechanic. He was cool and had a good ethos about doing something he didn't want to do (or knew how to). It sounded like he is more of a British car expert? Might be cool to see him do something technical on an Aston Martin or Triumph.

I hope you guys did a Borla ATAK or Flowmaster Super 10 exhaust set up, they make a Outlaw setup for that truck it would sound bad ass!

It's a 350 going where a 305 was. It's the same block it should go in easy.

I’m currently swapping engines on my squarebody and all I can say is thank god it’s been engine swapped before so I don’t have to deal with all this useless wiring and crap

back in the 80's when all the emissions crap came in to play, v8 motors didn't produce crap for HP.

The 350 was a great engine but power go with the 454 big block or the 402 for most power to weight ratio but it was a nice choice instead of that gutless 305.

How would you compare daily drive ability of big green or the like to dd'ing 2000s trucks or even new models?

this is great. i had a 85 silverado k5 for my first truck and the 305 was "meh." wish i never sold that truck, would have been fun to stuff a motor in it like this.

Why would you need emissions paper work when you bought it if you were going to put in a crate motor

You are a brave crew to pull an engine with the radiator in place.

Wonder if the frame is cracked around the steering box. A common problem on Squarebodies, which is aggravated by large tires. ORD makes a nice brace to prevent it from happening... Also hope that Chevy gave them the right crank to mate to the SM465. Anyone else notice how the passenger side of the front bumper is raised, something is tweaked, either the frame or the bracket (best case scenario), but the bumper looks to be in good shape.

Any particular reason you didn't go with a big block TFLtruck? They bolt up the same to the trans, motor mounts are in same spot, the only difference is the big block is a bit longer towards the front.

talking about hard to find parts, try finding particular things for a 92 amigo. there is one here I gave my niece, hard to find things like the correct parking brake cables for disk brake. & it needs that vacume valve by the thermostat.

Good video guys. Fwiw, it is a common trick among techs to air down the front tires when you are doing engine work topside. The extra 6 inches it lowers the truck can be a huge help.

Thanks for the realistic live stream video. Like any good project it's harder than it looks, takes more trips to the parts store, and costs more than you expect. I watched it a little after it aired live but didn't mink the length since I'm always doing other things while watching TV. Looking forward to the next few Big Green streams. Also want to see a Colorado or Canyon 2.8 Duramax 4x4 build and even better if it's a camper truck build with a Four Wheel Camper or Haulmark Camper. The GM small truck with 2.8 Duramax looks like an excellent platform for some OME BP 51 and other upgrades like the Dakar leaf-spring pack some 285/75R17 or 33's with a mild lift and ore. We know the ZR2 is a great truck but it has the multi-matic shock thats may be a little wimpy and have a some exposed fragile parts plus a very low tow rating.

It rolls so easy cause it's a Chevy 😜

love this truck. I have a 75 Sierra pickup converted to floor shift. 3 speed inline 6 and I love that damn truck. This makes me wish we could save all the old cars and trucks! Cool truck though, more than I need, definitely solid for offroading though.
