When I play with friends and they are struggling I tell them: Dont worry you re gonna be fine, take ur time. Then they realize they are behind on the clock and sweat even more.
I literally started with Chess a few days ago, I'm loving it but damn some people at 600, I make a move that must leave them shook because they go afk for 8 minutes then the game auto resigns lmao.
We need a part 2 where the online player brings the markers for move analysis, imagine marking your move as a "brilliant move" right in front of your opponent, or marking the opponent move as a blunder in front of their face. I would also like to hear the checkmate sound too if you make a part 2 with more memes.
Also another kind of parody could be done: *_Real life with online chess mechanics_* - You do something wrong and a blunder alert appears. - You try resolve a problem and suddenly everything goes back in time to the point where you were deciding what to do because all was just a premove. - Your computer or bank account gets hacked and the check sound can be heard. - Your boss promotes you and you become a queen. - If someone fights you, you only can move forward and only hit when your opponent is close to you at your front diagonals (parody of the pawn attack).
Something like that actually happened during OTB tournament. Not with markers on the board, but one of my opponents used this annotation symbols in his scoresheet. So when he played black against me, his scoresheet looked like this: ... 37. Rxe3? Rxe3! 38. Rf7? Rh3!! 39. Rxb7? Kxd4!! 40. Rd7+?? Ke3! 41. Rd6? Rh2+!! 42. Kc3? Ra2! ... 1/2 - 1/2
@@ajm1283 it's a pain. I've been to my first couple games these past few weeks (school district tournament) and writing down moves is just... I hate it.
@@dionel1388 nah itll calm down after a year or so. Just this year and next year are gonna be nuts because some 1800 rapid lichess is gonna be in a beginners bracket lol
I don‘t know why, but I play better in person than online. My brain is just much more engaged, touching pieces, observing your opponent… much more enjoyable
I may not be a great chess player, but I consider myself extremely fortunate to have learned and played in the real world before online chess became a thing rather than the other way around.
You learn a lot more in person too I imagine. My mum tought me chess when I was 4 and it‘s just much more engaging. When playing fast you can legit freak some people out and if you don‘t train your poker face it can get really messy sometimes. Also observing where your opponent looks can give you hints on what they‘re up to
I tried to learn in person but for some reason my pea sized brain just couldnt remember anything. Up until i played online chess which i began learning a thing or 2, i havent played chess in a year or so. So back to square one.
@@IN-pr3lw I do like the online resources. But I feel like I have an easier time having learned first over the board and THEN going online rather than trying to do it the other way around.
I remember when I went to my first chess tournament and it wasn't even rated and there were no awards or anything (the award for the first place was a $10 voucher for orders in the bar the tournament took place in) so you had all types of players from completely rookies to some decent yet still amateurs. I remember playing with a young dude about 20 years old and when I castled he was like "oh shit, that's the move I haven't heard of yet" lol. I knew I should win that game and I did in next 10 moves.
from experience... if youve never played otb and u only play online, youl play atleast 300 points below ur level if its ur first time. u need to play a few games to get used to that shit looool
From experience, it's the opposite for me, I used to play OTB all the time, but then because of the pandemic I have to play using online chess and I literally blunder a lot, I just couldn't pay attention to the board. For some reason, I managed to beat some people that are 1700 over the board but lose to 800 when playing online, Most of the club members are so confuse when I'm actually way stronger than they think when we decided to meet in person
Me who learned OTB and played most of my time OTB until the pandemic: "Interesting." But I do feel like visualization is easier with online than OTB because pieces don't physically block other pieces and you get a perfect bird's eye view of the board.
Lol I love this! I wonder how many people that have only played online chess would fall victim to touch move rules for their first several real tournament games? LMFAO!!
I was playing at a chess club once and someone actually move twice and said he was premoving I shook his hand and declared it a victory for an illegal move in time trouble we were playing with a clock so it was really silly and he tried to argue but everyone looked at him like he was crazy
I live in Japan, where, as you can imagine, there are not many chess players, so I have played chess online for years, although I started off playing the game over the board. I'm also a Go player (much stronger than at chess, actually), and I usually played Go over the board, as I simply HATE playing the game online, for numerous reasons. Then came the Covid pandemic, so now I don't play Go at all. Fortunately, we have the Internet: imagine if we had had the pandemic prior to the Internet!
Good video. If you’re looking for feedback, I think faster cuts would make the video feel a lot more fluid. You tend to have a bit of silence after each cut, which feels awkward.
I don't know I liked the cuts, felt authentic, chess isn't really a fast snappy thing like it's a Jake Paul vlog or something for kids lol, unless you want to kill your brain cells with bullet
I'm online 2400 rated and I just played OTB for the first time and I messed up the starting position by putting my bishops on b and g and my knights on c and f.
most of the time 2400 lichess isnt titled player level, even if it is, he will probably have to get used to playing classical time format tournaments which is very different from online blitz
Good video. Also is "OverTheBoardPlayer" prp Pikachu with a party hat from N64 Super Smash Bros. ? I love that prp :D btw, I seldom use arrows online so I don't do this OTB xD Still a bit odd for me when I have to draw arrows online to show others watching lol
Lmao the sounds one I always rely on sounds so whenever I play over board i never realized when a certain piece is blocking a check if my opponent doesn't point it out
