There's a great deal of wisdom to be had here... Focusing on the teaching rather than the teacher. Pastors and elders should be quick to call out false teaching and never shy away from calling out the source. This is to protect their flock. It is also crucial not to condemn people, 1 Cor. 5 has the end goal of restoring the individual.

"I've never seen one of these conversations take place." Hahahaha! Oh, Comrade Joel, that's because Marxist "conversations" are one way conversations. Ideas so "good" that they have to be mandatory. :-)

If you try to have a "conversation" you will be accused and gas lighted. It's the same with abusive spouses. Husbands and wives.

If any married man there behaves in a sexually inappropriate way towards you, molests you or worse. If its the pastor/Elder it's a deliberate abuse of their authority, and none of them have any right to do anything like this to you. You don't have to put up with this. And definitely - get out of such a church.

What about when the church isn’t necessarily teaching heretical things…but it is at the same time seemingly unaware of some of those dangers around it and creeping into it? When the leadership seems unwilling or just not interested in taking some of these things head on? When issues or concerns brought to the leadership almost seem like a nuisance or are just brushed off?

Almost all churches and their leaders won’t take very serious problems seriously. Especially toxic relationship problems. They want to say woke churches are the problem but these churches are equally corrupt in their own way. They are overly authoritative and lack in compassion for the hurting. The woke churches care about the hurting but take it too far. Neither one is right.

I disagree, it sounds like you are saying it's always wrong to call someone a heretic, correct? Is it wrong to openly say of someone "This person clearly doesn't actually know the Lord."? I have to say yes, there does come a point where a person's actions become sufficiently clear to demonstrate what is in their heart. You learn more about what is in a person's heart by bringing up the issue with them and seeing how they respond, first in private, and second with 2 or 3 others, and finally before the whole church. The Bible commands us to know our leaders and teachers personally (Hebrews 13:7) so that we can be certain of things like this.

Everyone celebrates leaders in movies, shows, etc., until it's time to actually do the hard things...then the blood runs cold and knees tremble. However, bravery is contagious, and JW & Joel are showing us how it's done.

The perfect church on Earth does not exist and you cannot make the perfect church. If you can prove me wrong and find this church DO NOT JOIN IT!!! If you do you will spoil it.
