This is one of the most asked questions I get, this teaching should help you understand not only when to leave a church but also transitions in life.
Why Are So Many People Leaving the Church, well there is that question and there is the question why are you thinking of leaving the church? Lets have some courageous conversations
Don't forget to join us for our Identity and Purpose summit happening June 28th, 29th, and 30, 2021. You can register here. bit.ly/identitypurpose

Speaking to me. I've been at my church for 31 years (my whole life, I was born into this church). I was one who thought I'd never leave, and it's come to a point where I've reached the end of the road here! Praying for wisdom concerning my next.

The church I served at for almost 10 years did not let me do much. It was a very very toxic environment...I'm still hurt and bittered by how the kids mistreated my daughter in ministry and social environments...and how the ministers treat me while serving there... when I got there, God said, they are not going to let you do much in here....I did not know what that meant...so I joined...I don't like being without a church home long (today, I have a diff perspective)...instantly, I saw manipulation, rejection, intimidation....but I really didn't care about them not letting me do much, becuz I was burnt out anyway...plus I don't mind the sidelines or sitting on the bench...I'm still apart of the team... I join leadership ministry. Still not much to do but servant stuff...we fellowship but I never develop a close relationship with any for this reason...u can fellowship with them today...and u see them out in public the next day...they will act like they don't see or know you...overtime, I hated this type of environment... I left 2016, but went back 2017 thinking God wanted me there, but it was the same thing....my sister who came out an abusive situation left immediately saying to me, I can't handle being talk down to after being in an abusive situation for 11 years..He often tell us he didn't like us....his preaching didn't bother me because at that point I grew a strong hatred for him and them... I was always angry...always....bitted angry.. everyone who lefted this ministry was bittered..angry..now fast forward to today, I'm yet so so so angry and so so so hurt...I can truly say...i was bitten by the snake... I hate church now..well at least churches like this, I hate cruelty.. When my daughter tells me of a situation of cruelty to her by church kids, fam. or anybody, I go crazy...either I blow up or can't stomach hearing it.. either way it hurts to bad to hear... now I am very careful where I put my membership...but what I can say is...love lifted me...love lifted me... when nothing else could help...love lifted me....love has been my protector, teacher, love is the only thing that has been keeping me sane Throughout the course of the events in my life...if u want to make it Thur cruelty....hold on to love...which is compassion, kindness, gentle, it is very understanding, it's a weapon...it keeps you sound.. it is very powerful when u don't want the option to contaminate ur heart with revenge..it will be all thats left to do when u don't know what to do..or when God has tenderized ur heart to hate to do to others what has been done to u...and when u grow frustrated and feel like your backup against the wall. At that time, love will be the greatest comfort and revenge.... You get the devil back by doing the opposite of what has been done to you...I'm telling you guys...love has been my saviour, fight evil with good and not hood...lol....

In my previous church my pastor told me that I was not allowed to read the Bible at home with close friends because it was too dangerous without a church leader!! I was not allowed to pray with them either. He said that all teaching and “prayer meetings” had to be in the church. Also seeker-friendly preaching! 😩 I eventually confronted my pastor. I share what happened - in a new series which I have just created. If you are interested you can see this on Lion of Fire Ministries 🦁🔥 Bless you, Matt

Literally just sent in my resignation as a member and it hurts. Our pastor was a family member and family issues kept spilling into our church life. How do we move on from church hurt ?

This was the most complete discussion on the topic that I've yet to find online. I left the Catholic Church because of diocesan-wide condoning of a teacher's physical and emotional abuse of a young student that I witnessed. I am presently a conservative Mennonite but considering leaving the church; although my pastor and his wife said they supported me as I dealt with bipolar disorder, PTSD, and SAD, in fact, they did not feel that psychiatry was a valid health field or that bipolar disorder was even a thing. His goal was to get me off of all psych meds! He had not shared that goal with me. I learned about it six months later. While the ministry team is fully supportive of me and I have long ago forgiven our pastor, I cannot forget and I certainly do not trust him. It's so sad, too, as I've felt that I had a loving church family and a church that was so attuned to the Gospel. I am still discerning about leaving, but I wish to see healing here. And our bishop feels that I can help educate our community about mental health issues. I'm willing to do whatever God has put me here to do. Sometimes, though, it's difficult to be so "naked", especially among people who just think I need more faith, or to trust in God more, or to get those "demonic influences out of my soul"! Oh, please! Bipolar disorder is a brain-based, biological mental health disorder. There are specific symptoms that must be present in order for the diagnosis to be made - and very often, bipolar disorder is misdiagnosed as depression. Anti-depressants only make bipolar disorder worse. CT scans of bipolar brains differ from those without bipolar. Maybe with my educational background, teaching experience, and faith in God, I can make some small different in how His people here with mental health issues are perceived and supported by their churches and community. And Dr. Faith, your video helped me put all this together. Thank you so very much. May God continue to bless your ministry.

This is a very touching impact as a Catholic with bipolar disorder a friend who was in a pentecostal church constantly told me that my disorder is all in my head which really invalidated my experience not to mention it nearly put me into a psychosis being constantly urged into speaking in tongues which is a good thing in my opinion.right now I'm in a dilemma of whether or not to leave the church

Thank you! This was very helpful, as I’ve been questioning if I should leave my church through most of this pandemic. I realize it’s probably some ways I could help, if I just communicate the dilemmas. But, I’ve kinda been stuck on how to go about that as well.

My church doesn't really believe in the prophetic. I had an encounter and they said I was demon possessed and schizophrenic.

Agree, I once experience that the force of God to move. Immediately when I am called to prophetic Intercession it was like a divine disconnection where the leader could not understand the level of my prayer life and he started to be irritated and people were asking me to leave but I resisted until God take me out with a force to another province where now I have a ministry of raising Intercessiors for God, teaching about how to understand traveling, groaning, wailing and pushing and God is moving in a Mighty way. Which was like a taboo in my church to travail and groaning. I hear you very well woman of God. God continue to blessed you

Great advice here but but I’m concerned seriously that if women are preaching that is not biblical. We must listen to God’s word and the roles we are supposed to do. Men need to step up and be leaders
