Is there ever a time when it works to give a more exaggerated or quick flick/brush on the ball, or will it almost always result in the ball sliding off your paddle?
I have seen multiple different coaches on RU-vid teaching the "forehand roll" or "forehand roll volley" in a different way, where they brush the ball at a 45 degree angle toward the top of the ball, rather than the 90 degree brush that you show here. One example, timestamped to exactly where he advises this part of the technique, from Cliff Pickleball: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4vAD0ItMJvo.html I'm not sure what his coaching credentials are, but as I mentioned - I've seen other coaches advise this technique. From my own experience, I can have success using both methods, depending on how attackable the ball is. Can you shed any light on this? Is it bad advice, or just me confusing two different shots?
