2011 was the year of Sonic the Hedgehogs 20th Anniversary. Celebrations started on the Xbox and PS3. Was the 3DS a continuation of these celebrations or did this version end the party too soon?
I only have the 3Ds version of Generations, and I like it a lot. I actually found the game to be quite challenging, especially the later special stages. I like how they gave Classic Sonic the homing attack. Also, the Modern and Classic Sonic stages are quite different from each other, since the Classic stages are more platform focuses, while the Modern stages are more focused on timing boosts and homing attacks correctly.
Ain’t going to lie. I mean if you think about it, it would be a great opportunity for them to bring even more stages from the Sonic’s past into SXS Generations. I mean if they brought back Shadow complete with his own stages from the past, along with both Sonic’s getting the drop dash, then it would make sense Sonic should get his own beyond Colors instead of the usual Sonic 1 to Colors stages since we’ve long since passed Colors. I mean it literally came out in 2010 for crying out loud.
@@TheMainMii Yeah, man. If Sonic Team was smart, they’d do this. That and it would suck as hell if you can’t carry over Mods from the OG Generations into SXS Gens. Actually if I’m going to be honest, PC version of Gens is the best version of the game no question. And I think you already know why. Best graphical fidelity, smooth 60fps, little to no load times and mods if that wasn’t obvious enough.
I regret not having these games in my younger years, now i get to make up for what i didnt have. Will deff use this as a guide to what to expect on them
What I really wanted for Sonic X Shadow Generations was to have at least the inclusion of the 3DS stages remixed to the console edition, and an extension to cover game up until the Forces era, along with the Shadow content. Even beyond that, I've always just wanted a "complete" edition of the game. Base Gens, and 3DS all rolled into one.
Excellent review man. I always thought Generations 3DS could hage been a lot more unique if Modern Sonic actually played like the Adventhre titles. I'm not even asking for boost gameplay, just moving forward in a 3D space. They did it in Lost World 3DS, after all.
I’m still bewildered how Super Mario 64 can run smoothly on an original DS, with better graphics, multiple playable characters, and more content than the original. While the 3Ds couldn’t have Unleashed styled 3D stages for Sonic Generations. That utterly confuses me. 😂
I definitely wish they pushed the 3DS some like they did with lost world when making this version. But maybe time constraints were the only reason it didn't happen. Who knows.
@TheMainMii it was definitely time constants, a fully 3d game of that speed on the 3ds would be insanely hard to develop quickly i used to have a friend on discord who was trying to port a 3d game to the 3ds and apparently the 3ds renders things in a super weird and obscure way, so converting assets (like stages from past games or even just small objects) was insanely difficult, with that being said the 3ds version would have to be built from the bottom up besides, the special stages are awesome so that makes up for it imo
