It seemed like you had a lot of trouble because it really looks like your aim was very bad, there are countless times where you are shooting but the gun is going from side to side sometimes alot and sometimes a little but very few times where you just aim straight and stay still that may be way you had trouble

Sony's Halo? I immediately thought of Killzone. I liked Resistance Fall of Man and 2, but I definitely enjoyed Killzone 2 and 3 more. Honestly, Resistance 1 felt more like a competitor to the og Call of Duty and Medal of Honor games. Resistance 2 went more for the Halo fans. Bunch of games deemed "Halo Killers" back then. You had: Killzone 1, Haze, and even Warhammer 40k Fire Warrior that tried to claim Halo's crown. Funny how in the end, Halo ended up killing itself by no longer trying to remain faithful to its core game design. But hey, it did have a definitive conclusion with Halo 3. So, blame Microsoft and especially 343I for the failures that followed Bungie's departure after Halo Reach.
Halo is the definition of living long enough to become the villain. A franchise once so strong it fought off multiple attempts for the crown, became too gluttonous and killed itself. Sad.

I haven't played the other two games, but Fall of Man had a bunch of NG "+" weapons, a pair of Auto pistols that sort of track enemies, a flamethrower, an Ion beam, a thing that spits a big cluster of rounds you can hold in front of you and split, and a mine thing that incinerates a small area
I remember being maybe 6 or 7 when the ps3 and resistance came out, and I was utterly amazed at the graphics being super realistic compared to my original xbox or gamecube, and insanely scared at the ugly aliens and blood everywhere, such a good game
The story & themes of FoM, the co-op spec ops type missions of R2, and multiplayer from R3, as well as the unique weapons & series staples. Those are what stuck with me the most. The co-op missions from R2 are 110% what stick out most in my memory. It was a fantastically done mode. The custom classes, different 'operator' types, leveling, & unlocking perks/gear was all very satisfying.
I definitely agree with this. It would be awesome to have more rts games on console. Hopefully with the Microsoft Blizzard purchase and Age of Empires 2/4 coming to Xbox Microsoft will start focusing on rts games which would cause Sony to make their own console rts games in response. Sadly, that probably won’t happen. We need more console rts games. You can streamline the mechanics without having to compromise the more complex unit/building management of an rts if done right.
Killzone is garbage though outside of it's first games Story and this game has no possible way of stacking up to Halo Wars as the premise doesn't lend itself well to it
@@victorkreig6089 are you mentally challenged? Killzone literally improved with every release and peaked at 3. It would make a perfectly fine command and conquer clone, which is what halo wars 1 was.

Really loved the 1st and third game in the series the second was critically loved but felt dumbed down and was really just a lot of big bosses wowing people
I only played Resistance 3 but... its one of my favorite FPS games of all time. That level in the town with Satan was so terrifying my eyes opened wide and I paid attention after that.

I clicked on this video not knowing that this video was about the resistance trilogy. I had no idea it was about a game I already knew about. I used to watch my dad play these games for hours when I wasn't playing uncharted. Good times.

Same. I bought the games a few years ago as a way to drive myself to get a PS3. If there is a used game store or pawn shop in your area and you're interested, go check and see if they have copies of the game.
I have super fond memories of the Resistance franchise, they were some of the first games I ever played. Of course, they don't hold up all that well and were far from the best at launch. But I always found the concept of the games better than the actual execution, and the creature designs were really fun. It was cool playing Resistance back then with no knowledge of competition or bias, I had never even heard about Halo while religiously playing this franchise. Awesome it still sparks up conversation today; the menu music for Fall of Man is forever seared into the wrinkles of my brain.
Resistance trilogy is still one of the best games i enjoyed so much on ps3. Resistance 2s coop was a ton of fun and spent many hours playing with people.

It’s so funny how back in the day all these different games that simply did not understand what made Halo great would dub themselves “Halo Killers” instead of being their own thing (Haze is probably the funniest example. That Halo Killer was so bad it killed the company who made it). Then everyone started calling themselves CoD Killers, and other popular games of the day. The only thing that could kill those big franchises being themselves (it’s amazing how Microsoft appointed the most incompetent people to head Gears of War, Halo, Rare, and other franchises. They think that throwing money at a problem will fix it). Speaking of CoD, Sony should just remake/revive their shooters like these instead of crying about the Activision Blizzard purchase. If they do remake Resistance, Killzone, and their other FPS games they should remain mostly faithful but use what they learned to improve the gameplay, have better ai/enemy variety, have soft retcons here and there to better tie the games together so they don’t feel disjointed and make the lore more consistent. There would also be stuff like respecting the art style while making the assets be higher grade (if the enemy designs remained mostly the same then just reusing assets across the trilogies with slight tweaks would be fine). That would get me to finally buy a PlayStation (that and Ratchet and Clank, and Little Big Planet). Unfortunately they most likely won’t do that. Hopefully Sony starts porting more of their games to pc. That way more people would be able to enjoy them and they’d be preserved. It’s so funny how a bunch of companies will sperg out when you use ROMs for games they outright refuse to legally distribute (Nintendo being the worst offender). The Chimera make me think of the Pandorans from Phoenix Point (this Xcom style game made by the guy who created the original) how they’re this parasite/virus with numerous different forms made of different creatures. Hopefully We get a Phoenix Point 2. In fact it would be awesome if they made a Resistance or Killzone game like that. Even if there’s not much of a reason to continue the main story of those games there’s still a lot of room for spin-offs in different genres exploring different aspects of the universes (Gears of War and Halo are the same way with their awesome universe that aren’t being utilized because the people in charge are Chris Chan level incompetent). Someone else in the comments said they wanted to see a Halo Wars inspired game and I wholeheartedly agree.

Kiki Wolfkill and Bonnie McFarlane forced them to greenlight more because both of them knew they were hacks and wouldn't be able to make it in the industry on their own The problem with Gears is that it kept going, I don't like the series at all but had they stopped at 3 they would have made out like bandits.

That they should have retained the horror/gore elements of the game. Which were totally removed from gears 4 and 5
Resistance needs to come back it was a cool asf of a game, and I really wan to see the aliens that created the Chimera hybrids. Also I thought the Resistance games were a mixture of Halo & Gears of War.
2:20 to be fair, this is the reason emulation is a thing. To archive and reserve any old games like this. I'm against pirating, but when the only options are to pirate or pay 10x the price for a physical copy, you know what most of us are gonna do.

Copies can still be found in pawn shops and used game stores. If you have a working PS3, keep an eye out for the trilogy of games. A few years ago, I did the exact opposite. I bought the three resistance games and other classic PS3 titles so I'd be well motivated to get the console.
Tbh resistance's story pitch is one of the coolest out there. There is now way humanity should win and few games actually just drop stakes as high as this game did during its initial reveal
There was tons of Alien/Monster invasion games throughout the 2000s and early 2010s. Doom 3, Crysis series, Gears Of War series, Half Life 2, Halo, Prey 2006, Dead Space series, Mass Effect Trilogy, Starcraft 2, XCOM series, etc. But what I think made Resistance so unique was the time period it took place in and the Chimerans. Other than Dead Space, Resistance was the only alien invasion game with no actual purebred aliens. All the aliens were actually hybrids of humans and other earth animals. The enemy you as the player were fighting was other people mutated into alien hybrids by a virus. The actual pure Chimerans were never in the game and didn't have to set foot to take over earth. It's what made it so scary to me as a kid. Not to mention the game took place in the 1950s when we just created the atomic bomb meanwhile the Chimeras have vehicles and weapons far more advanced that they realistically should have taken over the world no problem considering they have guns that let them see through walls with energy shots that can travel through them and a gun that has bullets that will seek out whatever it tags.

@Daxter609 I agree with everything except the hybrid monsters in action games. The time period absolutely elevates the intensity of the scenario, and I don't think many games can say they capitalize on that as well. However, Half-Life, Doom, gears of War and I know I'm missing some, all have hybrids of humans. Half life the zombies and any combine above civil protection. Doom has possessed humans and other hybrids. And gears of War's locust are actually a race of former humans, which I totally missed that part the entire time I played. I'm sure I've missed some, like perhaps the denizens of rapture or something else but I really enjoy discussing plot locations and monsters 🤣
Nah, Resistance isn't like Halo. Halo is built around mystery and exploring the unknown, Resistance is themed around rebellion and the indomitable nature of the human spirit, hence why the franchise continues AFTER Hale's death in 2 and ends with Mankind continuing and WINNING the fight against the Chimera in 3. HOWEVER, Resistance has more than earnt its fan following, especially Resistance 2 and 3, which I feel are way better balanced than Fall of Man could ever hope to be and are must-owns for the PS3 alongside Killzone 2 & 3, inFamous 1 & 2, The Uncharted Trilogy, both Ratchet and Clank trilogies and ESPECIALLY practically the entire Metal Gear franchise barring Portable Ops and Solid V. The ending of 2 still stands out in my mind as one of the ballsiest endings to any franchise sequel. Here's hoping one day Insomniac can make another strong First Person Action game, considering they're still going strong.
Resistance was ight. I actually really enjoyed the very last killzone. I thought all the previous killzones were pretty dull but the very last one I thought was a pretty damn good game, especially co op with a buddy. It had great graphics, game play, and its story was actually interesting.
I always figured that it was PlayStations answer to X-box’s Gears of War. Gears was one of the first games on Xbox 360. Resistance was one of the first for PS3. Never once did I get a halo killer vibe off this game. Once you play both games I’ve talked about you see the similarities.
Regarding the Manchester real life thing, it was more that Manchesterian(?) thought that Sony and IG were making fun of the fact that Manchester has a history of violence. Rather the the whole the chimera don't care about what Humans think is important.

Resistance was my pre teen childhood. I platinum the third game with ny cousin and it has a very special place in ny heart. I wish it wasn't abandoned.
Oh, and replay the games and on higher difficulties as well! You unlock other weapons when you replay the game. Fall of Man had a lot of weapons that I wish made it into the other games. Same with the second game. The gun that shoots saw blades was so cool to me.
Can't wait for the hypothetical sidequel to this older franchise Resistance: Fall of Men with Invasion: Rise of women, it's going to be even more bombastic than Killzone 4 and Ratchet and Clank series also what happened to Lost Planet games? The current era of gamers may never know...
The spinners knock you out, infect you, cocoon you up, and then you gestate into a chimera. That's why there's so many gestation pods in the neighborhood. People were running from the swarm and trying to barricade their homes unsuccessfully.

I remember being in the top 20 players on Multiplayer when the game first came out. I had like 50 million experience just in online, I had another 20 in co-op and 2 in Campaign haha
Okay but like, the PSP one is only outdone by the PS3 one. Retribution, especially when emulated or played via 'merging' it with a copy of Resistance 2 on your PS3, is one of the best Sony shooters of that era.
Hated 2005 war of the worlds. To me the best adoption is 1953 war of the worlds. The iconic Sound effects which if you didn't know was used in the original star trek. And the best alien beat down humans i have seen. Resistance is a good game, kept you on your toes.
man... i'm surprised with how much i disagree with your assessment of the first game. i loved the bullseye and auger, and i thought the aiming of the sniper riffle was crisp, a little too easy to aim with in fact. i also really liked how difficult the enemies were, and i even loved the health system. and although it's been years i don't recall being stuck at any one place. the ONLY thing imho that keeps it from being as good as halo CE is that halo has better big set piece battles. not that resistance's aren't good, they just don't rise to the crazy high standard that halo set. still cool video though, and it was a fun watch!
When i first (and last) played this game years ago i was like a baby trying to learn how to walk again because of that controller button scheme and didn't even complete the first chapter before i stopped playing the damn game completely. I only enjoyed and loved the Resistance: Retribution in the PSP console honestly. In hindsight the 2nd game feels really different from the rest. It's basically abandoned the WW2 aesthetic all together. Also shame that the character from the first game just relegated to the psp game especially that cliffhanger line from Parker from the 1st game.
Resistance and killzone were the only reason I bought a PS3. Resistance was an amazing game. You gotta understand that the first one was hard because games back then actually were a challenge. Resistance 3 is on PS4/5 now though. It works soooo much better. Get it on those
