@Asrah Xai At that time I happen to live in an area that was dry and the rust process hasn’t taken hold of the exposed metal in the dent. My plates were of a rust belt state. They were “cowboy cops” so to speak who possibly saw me as an “outsider,” the cop who dismissed me was a friendlier officer who I met before. I had absolutely nothing to do with the crime and presented my friend’s airline ticket to prove that my story was legit. The “cowboy” cops didn’t care about the plane ticket evidence. I was also a bit naive to my rights back in those days. The people who actually carried out the crime took merchandise from the sporting goods store after they used their car to break the store room windows. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Honestly, I used to get blamed for things a lot so anytime my face any form of accusation or even I feel like I’m getting accused of something I immediately get defensive. However, one of the first things I do is explain that I’ve been accused of a lot of things in the past that I haven’t done. A good example is that my sister accuse me of trying to kill my mom and setting my apartment on fire. There’s no proof that I tried to hurt my mom and that’s because I never tried to ask for the apartment fire. It was later proven that my mom was the one to set the place on fire, and I was asleep, so I physically could not have been the one who started it. There was also a time in grade school, where a kid said I tried to spit on him from across the classroom and instead of just saying that I didn’t spit on him I explain to the teacher that I couldn’t spit that far even if I tried, and that I’d be willing to prove it. There was a time in middle school, where a kid said, I hit him on the arm, and I proved him wrong by buying myself in roughly the same location, and not only was the bite mark larger on my arm after I bit myself, but I nearly drew blood, which his arm wasn’t near that point so it quickly became obvious that he was lying. Anyways, people usually take me for a good target when it comes to making accusations, but what they don’t anticipate is the fact that I am willing to destroy my mind and body to prove my innocence because I much rather die, or go to a hospital, then get in trouble for something I didn’t do, also when I actually did do something I get angry, and not scared.

The advice is relevant whether youve committed a crime or not. Cops don't really care if you didn't comit a crime, only if you might've and "potential evidence" is an EXTREMELY broad category. So if you dont want cops going through all of your personal belongings, its good advice to follow.

It doesn't matter if you did or didn't commit the crime honestly, it's easy enough to frame someone for a crime all the way to court that the federal government estimates there to be an extremely large number of falsely convicted and imprisoned persons in the US. Evidence is so easy to plant that a plant could do it.
