I have several long time customers that I will do the occasional “freebie” for. I look at it as a show of gratitude. These are customers that no longer ask for quotes, give me the freedom to schedule at my convenience, are always appreciative and pay promptly.

42 years later after my first year, my key element is developing trust with customers, next is showing you can be fair dollar wise; third is delivering more than you said you would.

I’ll give up freebies if I’m doing things already at a property for certain customers, but I have a lot that come back year after year with a “get it done, send me the bill” attitude or continually refer me to friends which turn into the same model clients.

I have some regular customers that spend $5k-$10k every year. I think my best customer has spent over 175k in regular business over 10 year's. I treat my customers like family.

Whenever you discount a job or do extra work for no cost, always ask for a referral in exchange. Otherwise, you don't come across truthful
@keith-kalfas

Interesting.
@jamalsmith5326
@jamalsmith5326 26 дней назад
Meaning, specially with discounts.. say you quote a job at $5500, but the customer says that's too high, and you agree on $4500..now in the customers mind they are thinking you tried to overcharge them... however if you say "hey, I can certainly get to $4500 but I need you to refer me to a few of your friends, will you do that for me?"

Love your vids Keith. But I say, don’t ALWAYS! Offer something for free. If they have respect & treat you well- do the same. If they expect it on the first visit- that’s just rude.
