Today we are going to start part one of a two part series on when to change how you charge for sawmilling lumber.
Today we are sawing some rough, difficult Walnut logs. We will show you how we break one of the more difficult logs down to maximize the amount of lumber out of the log.
We want to give a huge shoutout to Solomon, he helps us so much editing some of the videos. Be sure to check out his channels.

I’m a hobby woodworker, from the city so I don’t pretend to know your work world….but, respecting what the customer wants, explaining what it’s going to take and that customer understanding your side of things…is what it’s all about. Common sense, common courtesy and I wish there was more of it. Thanks for your deep dive into it.

Thanks. It's best to be honest from the beginning, especially on small or odd jobs. The customer can make an informed decision with all the facts. Thx for watching

Hard work will give you a longer life. Driving a truck will give you a belly. You owe that customer for the extra 2 days of life he gave you, clearing those arteries out. Congratulations on him choosing you.

Thanks for the information you give but you didn't give any numbers and I know that price will very some but would you give an idea of what you charge per board foot and then what you charge for hourly rate? I'm an old man that used to run a circle mill 20 years ago but mostly grade and ties . I have bought a band mill just getting moving on it . I don't have a good working understanding of the current customer sawing market . Hope you could shed some light on it for me. Thanks

Kevin thx for watching where you're located makes a huge difference. I know guys around here milling as low as 35 cent a bf and some over a dollar. im not under selling my work, nor should you those too cheap will go broke the ones too high want get any repeat business.
