A very common self-defense question is the following one: "When do I go pre-emptive?" or in other words, "When to Hit in the Streets?". That is a great self-defense question that will be answered today.
When you're faced with an angry person in the streets, you should try to defuse the situation as much as possible.
However, keep in mind that it's not always possible to defuse a fight. Some people just don't want to hear anything and are ready to fight at all cost. That being said, at one point in time, you will need to hit first to protect yourself.
There are certain indicators that your opponent might do before he decides to throw his punch. It's important to recognize these cues to help you defend yourself effectively by going pre-emptive.
The indicators that your attacker is about to strike are the following:
1 - He will start "shifting" his weight, angle off or try to reach for some sort of weapon by putting one of his hands in his pocket. This usually means he's getting ready to strike you or use a weapon against you.
2 - Your attacker is no longer communicating with you either by not saying a word or by talking very aggressively.
If you do need to strike, you should strike from a natural fighting stance. You want to avoid getting into a "shoving match" with your opponent. Instead, you want to surprise your opponent with an effective first strike.
It's important to study a person's body language by doing self defense scenarios in order to pick up those important pre fighting cues.
An effective way to train for streets fights is to learn an efficient reality based self defense system.
