Love how you called yourself out on those overpriced SBD knee sleeves! Nobody's judging :D This is one of your best, most informative videos ever-- thanks for making it!
Yes!! You chopped the hair!! Highly encouraged absolutely everyone to go for the chop! Did it over 2 years ago after a bleaching accident, went pixie and then grew it a bit and never looking back!! 😅🤣
I commented this on one of your older videos but I'd love to see an "every day" clothing haul For muscular or broadly built women finding cute, affordable clothes that fit can be super difficult..I.e. JEANS, and tops that for shoulders/lats. Love you 🖤
Just a heads up to anybody considering a powerlifting belt.. Pioneer has an adjustable lever available now which gives a wider adjustability before needing a screwdriver. Check it out! Best of both worlds in my opinion (between prong and lever)
Oh my gosh thank you so much for this overview! Been getting into a bit of heavier lifting and I have been so confused about all of this. Thanks for the info.
sorry, but this lifting video reminds me of the guys at the golf course who thumb their noses up at newbies. That's why a lot of newbies quit golf after a few rounds with more "experienced" golfers. There are no rules to what gear to use when working out. If a knee wrap provides you with more comfort and confidence in your lift and allows you to do the exercise properly then go ahead and use them. If you prefer the added rigidity of a leather belt, use a leather belt. it's silly to try and set rules on what type of person should be using which equipment. Use whatever allows you to exercise proper form safely and properly. And let the "pros" and workout snobs think what they want, you're not there for them anyway. That said, I'm usually a big fan of Meg's videos.
Your vids are so incredibly helpful, you have no idea! I’ve been training in the gym for about 3 years, but now I have an actual routine. You’ve helped me perfect my deadlifts, squats, chest press and more. I feel so confident now in the gym. Thank you so much!
This is the video I needed, not the one I wanted. Now I undestand better all this gear. I've been ambivalent towards them. I haven't gotten a good explanation on benefits or use before and thus I haven't used any.
I need some arm sleeves for Zercher deadlifts. My forearms are bright red and swollen today, lol. I love the lift and yesterday was the first time I did those. Psycho Eric Bugenhagen got me on em.
Been 9 months since I could lift due to COVID. And I've lost all motivation, even having my SBTD subscription, and haven't done any workouts in months. Depressed to say the least.
Sorry to hear you're depressed. It's a tough time esp for those experiencing stricter lock downs. Take care of yourself, and try to keep moving. Its a huge mood booster. There are so many lifters running the SBTD at-home option, and really supportive in our FB group. Please come back and vent or talk to some of your teammates! We're here for you!
@@Megsquats thanks Meg! Yeah I was doing the at home workouts but just got so tired of my cramped, dusty basement. And I love the SBTD community but seeing everyone in their gyms is a huge downer for me because I can't join in, y'know? And lifting was super important to me. Gyms around Toronto Canada are either shutdown or at a severe capacity limit and also the ONE time I did do, no one was wearing a mask and it was hella uncomfortable. Just going to take this year for me, and remember that when I bounce back it'll be harder and faster. But in the meantime, it sucks and I have to focus on mental health.
@@friedbolognasandwich I'm in the exact same position right now, can't bring myself to do home workouts at all, my apartment is tiny and i hate it. My city has even closed those outdoor spots where you could do some pull ups and stuff. Now my winter depression is really kicking in hard and i know working out would help it but i just can't. Just trying to cope at the moment but like you said, once i get back i'll probably make up my lost progress really fast so i'm kind of excited for that :)
Who the hell doesn't wash their knee sleeves at least once a month??? All it takes is a few minutes and you don't have to worry about them smelling bad.
Thank you for this information! I’m digging this new format, I think that showing us what you’re talking about when you talk about it the whole time is cool. I think at some moments (like when Ryan was showing the belts) a slow mo would be useful, but idk how much work that is. ☺️❤️
Wish I could buy just the long loop resistance bands from the at-home training kit. I have glute bands and sliders and other resistance bands already, I just want the long loop ones that aren't the "pull-up assistance" ones you see on Amazon.
@@Megsquats 🤍No here in Georgia they have been open since summer time , just recently I’ve complete gave up on going sometimes i get really nervous inside the gym so I stop going and I have weights inside my room but I haven’t worked out at all and I love working out so idk what’s wrong . I even tried drinking a lot of energy drinks but I always take a nap after lol so it might be cause of caffeine/ no sleep
@@naomii494 hey naomi i know how you feel. I recently got back into weightlifting after a year long hiatus and depression. Thinking of you and hoping you find the push to get back into it. Be kind to yourself ❤️❤️ start small, just a walk. No rush. Sending good vibes and love😊🙏 #buffchicks
@@naomii494 I agree, there's no rush! Take things slow and focus on you. Think about your goals and what you want to achieve and work your way there! You've got this! Just make sure, whatever you do and whatever pace you do it, that it is what makes you happy!
Have you been able to do any at home workouts? There are a few on my IG here if you want some ideas! instagram.com/p/CIiwfdzl-jS/ instagram.com/p/CIT8rwulZ50/ instagram.com/p/CII_ulploA7/
I have previously suffered from unexplained lower back pain at various intervals, then read that using a belt can help this. I have not experienced it again since I started using a belt!
Is the 'Powerlifting: World's Strongest Sport' shirt coming back? And does shipping to Europe cost any additional taxes for the receiver (from my experience that depends on the seller). Looking forward to ordering from your webshop!
We don't have plans to restock that item, but perhaps in the future! For shipping information, check out our IG page @strongstrongsupply instagram.com/strongstrongsupply/
I did not include them in this video for a few reasons. Not as popular, not allowed in competition, rare to see powerlifters or weightlifters using them. Usually we see SHW or geared lifters using them or Strongmen. I don't have a strong opinion on them.
This was really super helpful! And thank you for covering the difference between different types of each too, that was a question I had for myself while shopping!
I wish my belt lasted me more, but I went from a SHP to now at 125k and dropping down to 115k competitor for USPA comps...had to downsize twice!! I love the prong belts!!
What if you lower back pain? Will this help for support? , I lifted and squatted two 45’s yesterday and my back is killing me even tho I watched my form and everything 😔
Thanks Meg. Great info. I've recovered from 7 months of tennis elbow and going back in to starting with lifting. My hands get very fatigued. I enjoyed this video!
Great video. Wanted to ask that my if my strength is not increasing on a weekly basis then am i an intermediate lifter ? And if i am then what could kind of changes should i make to my program ?
Yes - usually the indicator of level is rate of progress. I would switch to an intermediate program (get off a linear progression) once you're no longer making from month to month on a linear progression.
Honestly I only came here to see how a natural girl bodybuilder would look like. That is impressive, girls who think they will get bulky if they trained at the gym they will never look manly as long as they stayed natural, they will just look better.
I only use straps for higher volume rdls and barbell rows! I was able to add 30 pounds to my rdl instantly once i implemented straps, but i don’t wear them for any other lifts. Great video!!
But wait...should you use a belt when you're starting to stall? Is there a weight (or bodyweight multiplier for how much you're lifting) that's a good rule of thumb for when you might use a belt?
Hello my strong strong friend! I have a back strain, it is gone now but i use a belt because when i squat or do some exercise bending my back hurts so do i use the belt correctly?
Pre lockdown I used to use lifting straps, and sbd belt for heavy low rep lifts. Now my knee is giving me some issues due to mal-tracking and has made a bodyweight squat painful. I could cry, hoping to learn more about knee sleeves
I see a lot of bros at my gym wearing wrist wraps like bracelets and wearing them the whole time while working out. I learned not too long ago Olympic style wrist wraps assist grip strength.
Tried to buy a Cali belt this last weekend, but you were out of XL and don't offer XXL. I figure mostly the women will recognize the company name, and any dudes that might try to give me a hard time for wearing a belt offered by Meg Squats wouldn't be worth interacting with anyway! I'll keep checking back.
RU-vid’s censorship is out of control. I want to continue watching your channel but will be deleting my account soon!!!! Will you have a channel in other platforms?
Time to get those elastic wrist straps I was hesitating to get. I thought it wouldn't help me at all but seeing as they provide some form of support, I'll go for it! I have chronic wrist pain haha
Love your new hair! just to follow up on the belt, my current BW is 62KG and i've recently hit a PR deadlifting 80KG (i know its not much), my back is good no pain whatsoever but i'm wondering if i should purchase one just for when i hit 100KG, whats your opinion? Many thanks
From personal experience: you will know, when you need it. For me, that was around 100kg btw...with a similar bodyweight. But the strain on your back also depends on your proportions...I have long limbs and a short torso, so deadlifts were always my strong point. But around 100kg, I suddenly started to feel a little 'uh-oh', when attempting PRs. It's hard to describe, but I just knew, that while I would be able, to get the weight off the ground, it didn't feel completely safe anymore. I would also recommend filming yourself, since the camera will show you any 'give' in your lower back, you may otherwise possibly not notice, depending on how 'hyped' you are before your PR attempts.
Pioneer general leather craft is an amazing powerlifting belt brand! They will customize anything for you, and the have unique prong and lever belts with 1/2 “ increments. The best! Surprised you didn’t mention them Meg! They are a Texas company and the best!!!🙌
Interesting point on the knee sleeves. For some reason when I wore them (they weren’t that tight) I felt like my right kneecap was about to burst out...maybe from the years of wrestling idk lol
In regards to straps I lift heavy on back day as it is my strongest body part and it’s been about 5 months that I took it very seriously and after those five months I had to start using it because I started deadlifting roughly 200 kg after only 2 of those lifting months would it still be okay if I do use straps as early as I am?
Have you run through your linear progression? Are you still progressing on a monthly/weekly basis? I'd say most likely you're probably find to use them as needed, but hard to say 100%., esp without seeing form are having a great understanding of your progression.
@@Megsquats yes my linear progression is constantly improving. Form wise I constantly have a straight back because I’ve been trained as a front row rugby player to keep my back straight my posture has always been a positive point and helps with keeping my back straight while doing compound and isolation movements. Thank you for replying back as well I’m a huge fan🤗❤️
