I use mouthwash in the morning, 3 times a week. So, Wednesday, Saturday, and Monday, in the morning before I brush, for at least 2 minutes. Been doing this for over a year, no problems so far.

I've always been brushing first then mouthwash straight away after. And my teeth are fine. Only have two fillings one one each side. Due to lack is self care. My gums don't bleed. My dentist is rather pleased with my teeth 😁

@@JeffBourkeIt's literally not, you shouldn't eat or drink or have mouthwash for at least 30, but ideally 60, minutes after brushing your teeth as it washes away some/all of the fluoride, or makes it less effective. Yes some mouthwashes contain fluoride but they're not as powerful as the ones from toothpaste.

This may be helpful for your your teeth but I would be concerned about harmful toothpaste ingredients getting into your digestive system and maybe causing gastro-intestinal issues down the line.

Holy moly, i was doing it wrong all this while. Right after brushing my teeth, i rinse with mouthwash. Now i know i shouldn't. And also i learned that right after brushing, just spit out the access but dont rinse, keep it in for a while for the paste to work on the teeth and gums. Thank you.

My Hygienist advises me to not use mouthwash until 30 minutes after I’ve brushed my teeth. I floss, brush my teeth 30 minutes before bed and then use mouthwash just before going to bed. Seems to work fine for me.

In case everyone is confused yes brush and mouthwash twice a day, mouthwash is optional, After you're done eating floss right away and wait for 30 mins, When you brush your teeth for 2 minutes than you'll spit out the toothpaste do not rinse it will remove what you just brushed than wait for 30 mins for mouthwash, After you waited for 30 mins than you will use the mouthwash for 1 minute and once 1 min is over spit it out and wait for 30 more min before you consume anything.

@Sunta Cloose Yes, I suggest you to do your research first not sure if you need a mouthwash that labels receding gums or if you can just get any mouthwash that will help with that situation, speak with your dentist they have more information to your problem

Namaste Alcohol dries the mouth , hence we can avoid alcohol based mouth wash. Instead gargle using salt mixed in lukewarm water twice a day. Thanks

Use your mouthwash in the middle of the day. Not after brushing, or else you'll get rid of the flouride from the toothpaste. Brush your teeth in the morning, then use mouthwash at around 2-3 PM and then brush teeth at bed time.

In my own opinion it is not recommended to use mouthwash every day. It would affect your body’s bacteria that can have good affect on your health. I only use them only when I have a sore throat or a highly acute cough or something. I often use it minutes after my brush and not right afterwards.

Yeah IV washed toothpaste out all my life I'm now 30 years old and learnt IV looked after my teeth wrong all my life 😳 and used mouthwash straight after.. information is always changing who ever knows what is correct :( nice teeth are for people who can afford a dentist not for the rest of us sadly :( something like 70% Australians have bad teeth :(

It is best to use it at another time of day. For example you could use it after lunch. You will ideally want to leave it 30 minutes after eating before using. How many times a day will in part be up to you. Most wont use more than twice a day. It is important to refer to the instructions available on the mouthwash you use. If you use it directly before or after brushing you are not getting the best results/benefit of the mouthwash.

Yes, if you wish. Only issue here is that by eating your lunch it will likely rid your mouth of the freshness of the Listerine. If you rinsed 30 minutes after lunch you would get that shot of freshness, help wash away bacteria and debris and apply a coating to the teeth to help keep them protected.

If you use before, you are going to be brushing the mouthwash away as you brush. If you use after brushing, you are going to be rinsing the toothpaste away. To get maximum value from the mouthwash use after brushing, but wait at least 30 minutes if you can.

It's so annoying. Brushing requires 30mins before you can mouthwash/eat/drink/smoke. Mouthwash requires 30mins before you can eat/drink/smoke. Eating/drinking requires 30mins for the enamel to recover, before you can clean your teeth. So say goodbye to immediately brushing your teeth after eating. Not to mention that if you've eaten or drank something citric, you'll have to wait a whole 60mins before you can safely clean your teeth of the acid.

I ain’t no what’s wrong with me am scared af I went back to brushing twice a day 3 days before Christmas break my teeth or gums started bleeding I thought nothing of it I thought it would go away then I went on a trip to visit cousins then I realized my teeth bleeding is actually serious so once my trip ended I used salt baking soda and hydrogen peroxide floss and brushed my teeth like crazy!i soon started my period and bought some mouthwash and continued brushing twice a day and flossed to my gum bleeding I feel like got worse!Am scared AF maybe when my period ends my gums will bleed less?

What "good" are you exactly rinsing out if you were to use mouthwash straight after brushing your teeth? I'd suspect only fluoride. I use a non-fluoride toothpaste, so would it actually make no difference to use mouthwash immediately after brushing for me?

In your case, you would be correct. If you were to be using a fluoride based toothpaste then you would be rinsing away the flouride.

Different brands will have different directions. Rinsing with mouthwash after brushing just washes the layer of toothpaste left behind away. Most dentists will advise waiting at least 30 minutes before using mouthwash.

@@ber1779 You're supposed to brush your teeth with toothpaste, spit out the excess toothpaste, and go. No rinsing with water or mouthwash. Otherwise you remove the benefits of the toothpaste.

Because if you rinse out the mouth with mouthwash or water, you are removing the residue layer left by the toothpaste. The toothpaste is designed to help clean and protect your teeth and rinsing just after brushing will stop you gaining the benefits of the toothpaste.

So if you’re not rinsing your mouth out with water after brushing, how do you get rid of the pieces of food, scraped off your teeth? That’s disgusting. Maybe brush, then rinse your mouth thoroughly. Then apply a small amount of tooth paste on your brush and brush your teeth again, lightly.

It washes away the toothpaste. If you use a fluoridated toothpaste this helps protect the teeth. Typically mouthwashes, even those with fluoride in have a lower percentage of fluoride than the toothpaste. So you are washing away the benefits of the toothpaste.

Brush your teeth, spit out all the remaining toothpaste and leave it. Ideally use mouthwash at a different time, when you wouldn't normally brush, say after lunch or a snack. If you do want to rinse shortly after brushing, it is preferable if you rinse 30 minutes after brushing.

We would not nor,ally advise rinsing after brushing. This allows the toothpaste to have a positive effect for longer. If you brush, rinse, use mouthwash and then rinse again you are washing off all benefit of the toothpaste and the mouthwash.

It is led by you and the mouthwash you use. You don't have to use it at all. Many brands recommend twice a day, but this is by no means a necessity.

Unless advised by your dentist there isn't a need to brush immediately after lunch or dinner. As long as you brush last thing at night and at some other time of the day. If you do want to freshen up you can use a mouthwash to rinse the mouth and give the freshness. One with fluoride in will give some extra protection.

I've read some claims about that if you use alcohol based mouthwash everyday, then it can "help" develop mouth cancer and other issues, so it's better to use alcohol based products only time-to-time. Is this true, or not?

Yes it does, you may use it but don't do it everyday. You can use the one that has zero alcohol "antiseptic" everyday if you want for gum care

Ideally you'd wait 30 minutes before brushing after lunch. This allows the acidity level in the mouth to reduce before you brush. You could then use mouthwash another 30 minutes later.

The idea is not to rinse w/water bc you’re rinsing away all of the fluoride in your toothpaste. You should just spit out the excess. Don’t rinse, eat or drink for at least an hour to get max effect of fluoride.

Whilst this could be an option the problem would be getting a thin spread of toothpaste across all the tooth surfaces again having rinsed your mouth out. Rinsing can potentially help remove debris, but with good brushing and several spits the majority should be removed.

Pretty much or you want a freshen up of the mouth, say after a snack or lunch when you wouldn't usually brush. There are particular instances where mouthwash is more important, but for the vast majority it isn't necessary. The toothpaste ideally needs to sit on the teeth for 30 minutes or so to get the positive effects of fluoride that is in most toothpastes.
