The matches with Foley in 2000 and this made HHH in my opinion. Say what you will about his golden shovel, but dude has given his life and body for this business. What's also funny is this injury was a blessing in disguise. The two man power trip(hhh and steve) was not very good. It felt very forced. HHH getting hurt when he did made him miss the entire botched invasion storyline and he came back a bigger star than when he left(he also was the biggest musclewise he had ever been)

Amen, Fantatsic on the mic, a real danger in the ring (very physical and able to wrestle for days). Always more satysfing when the heroes defeat a villian. Knew when to play his role. Dude was the toughest MF in wrestling. So many great matches. To tear a quad and think.... gotta do the spot. Unbelievable.

We've all heard about him burying people but it's moments like these and pretty much everything since around 2010 that has cemented his legacy as a huge positive for the business. He learned so much from Vince, both in what to do, and what mistakes Vince made.

jericho is a fascinating communicator. people love to take the piss out of his current run imo he had a better in-ring year in 2023 than seth rollins did. you can tell he loves the business and the people in it, some of the old tough enough stuff with jericho is such a good watch

All man every night. Got a nasty gash in the Hog Pin match in 95 on PPV and continued the match. Still got the shit slop bump all in his bloody cut. Still has the scar on his back from it. Tore his PCL at a house show late 97. But still wrestled Austin in the main events Feb -APR 98 on the house shows because Shawn wasn't. Because Shawn hurt his back and was pilled up; so only worked WM14. -Tore his MCL around Summerslam 98. Had no business having a great match, much less a great ladder match with Rock with his knee in that state. -Vince partially broke HHH'S leg during rehearsals at Armageddon 99 practicing a dumb dive spot. -Almost died when RVD crushed his larynx in the first chamber. -Fought Undertaker at KOTR 02 with lose bone chips in his elbow. -Parts of the sutures from his quad surgery came a part on the road to WM18. Told his doc, "it was bothersome, but he'll deal with it." Doc wanted to go back in and clean it up, but he put it off til his other quad tear in 07. (So basically HHH was wrestled 4½ years with discomfort all around his knees during his babyface run, heel turn and feud with HBK, Goldberg, Evolution, Flair, Show, Cena, all that, all through DX's reunion). -Tore the other squad on at the NYR PPV and finished that match vs Rated RKO in 07. -Wrestled the BOD with a torn pec a few years ago.

On top of the unprotected chairshots. All in that Rumble match. He was probably concussed like a mofo. And had no business wrestling the night after on Raw. That wouldn't fly today. Had a few broken fingers around WM16. He had a splint. Separated his shoulder at Backlash 2000 vs Rock.

Had a really bloody ear hell in a cell unforgiven 06 against McMahon's and Big show.

On WWE Network in UK he's on. Not sure about Peacock in US. I'm currently watching all Smackdown & Raw Shows 1999 onwards. I'm midway through 2000 and every episode featuring benoit is on there.@@JacksonOwex

That’s modern day thinking, they still had the old school mentality. There are at least 5 famous moments during the attitude era that they absolutely would stop the math in modern days. You just “toughed” it out if you got hurt wrestling. Not only does it unfortunately make WWE which is now part of a huge company and publicly traded…they can’t have “scandals” about wrestlers coming back saying they were told to do moves they didn’t feel comfortable with and pretty soon everyone is suing. It really comes down to the unfortunate fact they can’t just do whatever they want because this would look very bad if they continued a match in modern times that had the disastrous results of Lesnar v Angle or hell in a cell 1998

WWE erased it from history due to a child killer being in the match.

Anything with Benoit "doesnt exist" in the WWE world due to how he went out. Regardless of his work rate.

If WWE were to, say, do a "best of Jericho's matches" list, or many other top guys from the era, then many of their actual best matches simply won't be included or even alluded to, due to having Benoit involved. You can still watch all of the matches on RU-vid _and_ on the network. They simply pretend Benoit and everything he did doesn't exist, but they can't actually erase it all from the archives without ruining the events themselves.

I think what Chris is referring to is that the great matches many of these guys had can never be mentioned on WWE programming as they featured Benoit. Everything Benoit did in the company and WCW is still on the network. It'd be impossible to remove it all whilst still keeping the events themselves intact.

They DID have all of his matches pulled at one point but quickly realized that Benoit was too great a wrestler and he was in some of the biggest matches back then and that it is unfair to the other people that their matches are gone because of something someone else did!
