When you can’t stand ironing 🤢 

I'm not a fan of ironing but I still want my clothes to look nice and crease-free. So let me show you what I use instead of an iron. You can find her in my Amazon finds in my bio link: bio.link/andreasfashiongalaxy xx

Top tip: Stacy only likes *distilled water.* I had a mini-Stacy, and I angered her by using regular tap water. Too many minerals! She got constipated and eventually simply quit. Luckily, distilled water can be had relatively inexpensively by the gallon at the market.

As someone who works in a second hand clothing shop, Stacy (or rather her industrial cousin Brunhilde) is a lifesaver for us - clothes look ironed, bacteria is killed, and bad smells are eradicated! (Not tobacco though - that smell survives everything but a full wash cycle)

Steaming feels the same as ironing to me. It's the same level of work. I just buy clothes that either look good wrinkly or don't wrinkle. I have clothes that really should be ironed/steamed, but I never wear them. One extra step too much for me.

Stacy has been on my “to buy” list for a LONG time.

A tip from my years as a professional stylist & working in clothing stores: steam from the inside of the garment rather than the outside to achieve faster and more thorough wrinkle removal AND no risk of questionable water leaving visible mineral deposits or similar stains on your clothes!

I wish more fashion channels would also do wardrobe care and maintenance lessons!

I have a mini Stacy... She is very helpful for my more precious fabrics... But a traditional iron works great too. My best tip to avoid wrinkles, is to hang clothes as soon as they come out of the dryer / when I'm done wearing them and am planning to wear them again! Or even air dry the clothes in a hung / flat position! It helps a lot. I also only honestly iron my fancy / outing clothes, what I'm at home with, no one's gonna see, so no one cares 😂

Stacy is the household version of Medusa: snake body and you never look into her eyes, or else….. I want a Stacy, I need a Stacy, but Stacy will definitely end up hurting me….

In my early 20’s I was asking my mom for YEARS for a steamer for birthday and Christmas because I hate ironing… she was like bUt YoUlL nEvEr UsE iT. Eventually in my late 20’s a client of mine listened to me and got me a steamer!!! I’ve had it for nearly 10 years, she saved my sister’s wedding day with all the bridesmaids dresses, I literally used her yesterday!!! Highly recommend!! If you hate ironing, you WILL use it!

I never iron nor steam - to me it's the same level of work. 😂 But my mommy taught me the proper ways to hang dry and fold my clothes so they're never wrinkly ✨️

I have an Anastasia (Stacey, ahem). She's kind of great, but I still put steaming off until I need something or the pile gets higher. Fun fact, steaming kills bacteria, mold, viruses, so if you're on vacation and have only one or two shirts you're wearing in a hot sweaty climate, you can steam and clean at the same time. (Bring a hand-Stacey) or throw her into a steam dryer. Thank you, Andrea!

Since getting my own Staci (with an 'i' since she is smaller and handheld), I only use Ingrid (the iron) to press seams when sewing, to melt Stitch Witchery, and to press things that get (lightly) starched (very helpful on some crochet work on my summer tops). Also works great on those furniture covers (like from Ikea) or duvets that you would never want to or could be able to iron. I do miss working in a retail store and having access to the bigger, hotter steamers.

Another option is to hang your creased clothes in the bathroom after a shower! The steam from the shower will help remove the creases :) it works a treat for me🎉

I first had a cousin of Stacy, it died at some point. Nowadays I have the mini version of Stacy, a pocket version with a long cord. Very lightweight & easy in use, I love it! I use the iron only for pressing. Also a pro-tip: With some lighter fabrics like tule and mesh, you can hang it in your bathroom after taking a shower. The creases fall right out!

Stacy still seems like a lot of effort, yet I'm so glad she works for you!

I got a steamer thinking it would make my outfits look more put together but I still use it about as often (ie not very) as I do the iron 🤣

For those who are not iron averse, but do hate weird creases: tailor's hams and sausages. They're basically small, densely packed pillows to shape garments corrently when you press them

I've gone for the "I've become crease blind" option, like clutter blindness, but for creases on clothes 😂 I figure the clothes will get wrinkled anyway as I wear them, so I'm not really arsed to get my Stacy out for such short term results.... that's my excuse anyway 😂😂😂

Just a tip! You can also pop your clothes in the dryer for about 5-10 minutes and put it on right away and it gets rid of all the wrinkles :) Or if you're going to take a shower that morning, put the clothes on a hanger and hang it up in the bathroom while you shower. The steam will help- but it's not as foolproof.

I found a brand new portable garment steamer still in the box at a garage sale for $5 and it’s been a game changer for sure! I also make my own “wrinkle release” by mixing water and some fabric softener in a spray bottle.

Steamers are a lifesaver, I didn't know how much worse I lived before I got one. I hated ironing before school/work and it made mornings unbearable. With steamers you can even stack items so you can steam them on top of each other if they are thin enough. Also no chance of accidentally burning something - I've lost at least 5 favorite clothing items to the wrong iron settings before.

Love using my steamer, and it is less harsh on delicate fabrics too.

I'm so lazy that I choose the clothes I buy according to how much they tend to wrinkle... But sometimes theres a piece I really can't put back, for those few pieces I got something similar like Stacy in a smaller, more handy size. It's a lifesaver! Never want to miss it.

We had a Stacy in the department store where I used to work and we'd only take her out when we needed to put the new bedding out on display, but it was legit my favorite thing to do, I LOVED getting all of the wrinkles out of the sheets and comforters. Everyone in the store knew to get me whenever it was time because I'd willingly volunteer for that shit lol

I'm so bad and so slow at ironing, I finally started sending all my husband's work shirts out to the dry cleaner. Expensive, but a huge amount of work off my plate! My mother taught me just about everything I needed to know to run a household one day and she did include ironing, but she only got as far as teaching me to iron my Dad's flat, square handkerchiefs. That is no help when it comes to collars and cuffs!

Everytime I think about getting something you post about it 🤣 I really want a steamer. Some outfits I have are from Mexico and they're handmade. I'm so afraid to burn them or they don't even iron out. They get weird lines.

I have a h20 mop that immaculately cleans floors, never leaks water like other steam mops and magically transforms into a multipurpose sterilising cleaner, upholstery/rug cleaner, window washer, grout cleaner AND a powerful garment steamer! Those late night infomercials aren’t kidding around, the H20 steam mop really is brilliant. And I feel better spending that money on a device that fulfils many purposes other than just steaming a few garments when I can be bothered.

Stacy is definitely your best friend! Although, I've been washing my clothes with a washing detergent meant for Delicate wash and wool, but with the regular programme I mostly use and my otherwise wrinkly blouses don't come out wrinkly anymore (I don't even need softener)

I absolutely hate ironing! My most hated chore. I have resorted to buying clothes that don't wrinkle too much though.

I worked retail as a teenager and we steamed almost everything before we hung it on the racks. I loved it so much, I bought a hand held steamer as a 19 yr old and never looked back! I didn’t even own an iron until about 10 years ago when I started quilting. Yay for Stacy!

I want a steamer so much. Unfortunately, I also want a lot of another stuff but it's on the list. When I worked in a clothing shop, I liked to place the steamer underneath the fabric and direct it upwards (still being careful to not direct at my face, but I think the fabric held most of the steam back. I find the extra bit of weight from gravity helps get creases out of more stubborn fabrics this way. If the fabric's thin enough, you may also be able to steam both sides at once with this technique. I actually kind of enjoy steaming. It's a bit relaxing and I can let my mind wander. Plus the steam is nice and warm on a cool day. Definitely easier than ironing.

I recently learned a trick for some stubborn wrinkles. Basically you steam it from the inside and get Stacy's "eyes" close to the fabric so the steam had nowhere to go but through the material. Idk how this would work on all fabrics. But it worked nicely on a very wrinkly nomex jumpsuit. (I was steaming race car driving suits for a museum exhibit).

I have a handheld “Stacey”, and I LOVE her!

I just spray with a little water and pop it in the dryer and then take out and quickly hand press. Works like a charm. If it can’t be put in the dryer I hang in the bathroom while I take a shower then hand press while still steamy.

Here's a hack that will have the same effect as Stacy: toss your clothes into the dryer for 10 minutes with an ice cube!

I have both a Stacy and an Iona.... They both are excellent!!

I love natural fibers, like silk and cotton, but hate ironing. What I do instead is hand-wash them gently in cold water, never letting delicate fabrics soak. Then I hang them up, soaking wet, on plastic tube hangers. I straighten out the garment and let it drip dry. The weight of the water in the fibers of the supersaturated garment pulls the fabric smooth. Rarely do they come out wrinkled. Maybe won’t be as glossy-smooth as ironing, but much tidier than machine washing & drying, and far less work. It does take up a bit of space, but I wash only a couple at a time and it’s fine. Works really well on silk and linen. Less amazingly on cotton, but still mostly good. Just hard to do on patterned silk, because colors bleed. This is why most of my silks are solid colors. Lazy gals can look polished, too! Just within certain parameters. 😂

I do not iron either. But also I live somewhere v small and do not even want to find room for a handheld steamer. I mostly deal with the problem by ignoring it! But when something really needs to be flat, I use my hair straighteners on it. Swish swish swish, quick and easy.

Clothes steamer is a game changer. I hated ironing my husband’s work shirts and it really helps speed up the task. For my clothes, I find it great for silks, linen, chiffons and anything with fussy pleats.

There's also the method that requires zero money, but doesn't work quite as well - bring your wrinkled clothes into the shower with you - just don't hang them directly in the spray. Only works if you have a hanger with a hook that rotates and a shower that doesn't have not a floor-to ceiling solid wall/door around it. May not work for small-stall showers either. My blouses are always wrinkled from the closet and I use this as a quick and cheap method to make them more presentable.

I've been using a Stacy for years and have never had issues with the hanger bottom creating creases. Also, I find it's easier to steam by putting the "eyes" lol inside the shirt and steaming upwards. Just keep your fingers out of the way.

I used to work in a boutique and I loved the steamer we used!! She was fast, could handle literally hundreds of pieces in a day, it was great for my skin lol, and it helped with any smells from the factory or any smells from customers because she helps with getting rid of bacteria! If you have a chance to get a steamer, do!!!

The fabric dewrinkle spray, Downey, works great, too, & without electricity, but there is a wait time to dry. I also NEVER put my nice clothes in a dryer after washing. I hang them on hangers & let them air dry.

My husband and I finally spent the money on a steamer like Stacy a few months ago and it's been the life changing appliance we both needed. Recommended!

I never iron in the summer, and rarely do in the winter. I mostly wear clothes that don't require ironing... If they get crinkly, I hang them and pull them a bit at the seams when they are still humid.

Wrinkle release spray works when traveling or if Stacy is unaffordable. Not quite as nice, but helps you look presentable in a pinch.

I have a handheld corded version, 1000% rather steam stuff than iron. No more weird iron marks or baked in weirdness, just need a good steamer and 5-10 min depending on attire (I've resorted to steaming with an iron at hotels when on work travel, hotel irons always seem awful but steam option is a middle ground if the iron works)
