Absolutely the truth for me too. I started my single living in 1981 and although there have been moments on the whole my life has never been lonely.

When I was younger, the most loneliness I felt was in crowds. I disliked crowds for other reasons, foremost their clamoring, incessant craving for attention. Next to that, their inevitable mindlessness (both very gynocentric behavior). At 72 I still dislike crowds for much of the same reasons. I've never experienced the feeling of "belonging" in groups or crowds. In marriage I've never felt alone as I spent a great deal of my life from toddler-hood discovering the world and being mostly joyful alone. But marriage DID bring exploitation and marginalization and incessant feminine narcissism and blame and guilt-tripping and MANipulation. And then the financial devastation of divorce and the loss of respectful fatherhood with the children, and the restless nights filled with angst. Pretty tall price just to experience that expansion of self, caring for young and exuberant children. Women mostly hate being alone. They cannot stand their undisciplined mind's constant buzz. For them, to engage in meditation is with considerable difficulty. Not even yoga calms them down. The worst of it is women have no sympathy (as Florence Nightingale declared), but are always clamoring for it, especially from men. This is because they can never remember the affairs of others long enough to develop it. What they call a "relationship" is actually collusive symbiosis. They do not understand that a relationship is not something a person has. It is a byproduct of working intimately with another toward a common objective. But women are not concerned with objectives in their social interaction, only states of being. And that's why women make terrible companions. Once in a while, and with considerable patience, a man will find a woman who values him enough to outgrow their natural destructiveness and become "male."

The term you're looking for is solitude. Taking comfort in being by yourself.

My father always tries to get me to find a relationship but I don't want to deal with other people's problems until I deal with some of my own. He firmly believes that any relationship is better than none. I had to explain to him that I do not want to date someone who is less competent because of the frustration of having to explain things rather than them already understanding and being able to contribute.

Seriously man. It's a complete time suck. People are so afraid to be alone. While some of understands the fear, the other part thinks that if you're a man, you should absolutely learn to be happy alone. I feel like being alone and working and focusing on improving and being happy, will work not only to attract women, but also help attract the right kind of partner. I really like being alone. So much peace and time to pursue things that make me happy. I'd suggest buying a motorcycle. Nothing helps me relax like taking a ride. Also, chick's dig bikes. Just saying.

It's amazing. I'm introverted. Just got out of a 15 year relationship that wasn't good, but wasn't bad. Nonetheless I am loving being alone again. It's just so peaceful

All significant issues and problems in our lifes are coming from the fact, we are not honest to ourselves. If you feel like you can do nothing about it, than cry. What do you think ppl from middle age would say on "you can easily communicate with a person half the world away"? And they saw, that He did build in hours for Himself, but always to come back from those in more power to serve.

Interesting, I also enjoy solitude and agree with the peacefulness of it. I like to go to flea markets by myself. Even though I am amongst people I am also alone. However, I never considered getting to love myself. I use it as a time to communion with God and the world.

I've been alone for 10 years. There's still some social interaction, because I live in town. The society we live with has gotten so bizarre that it's not to take part in it. I think it's by design, and a result of social engineering. In solitude we can deprogram.

I'm sorry I know that your comment is a month old, but I just had to tell you "thank you", I am you. I have been with my husband for 35 years, married for 32. He is a firefighter and is gone 24 hours per shift, sometimes he is gone for 3 days at a time. People have often asked me " how can you stand being alone for that long" and they think I'm insane when I respond "I revel in it" I love my husband and can't imagine being with anyone else, but I absolutely cherish my alone time. Thank you for making me feel like I'm not just a horrible person , sometimes I am afraid I am. God bless you.

I was married for decades loved my late spouse and having our children. I have now been alone over a decade. I have adapted to it and it’s peace and quiet most of the time yet I do miss loving companionship with a spouse but won’t just settle to not be alone.

He knows that u can have a proper life partner like u, but he isnt going to settle with someone just to not be alone. It was SO cool and I was delighted - the pilot and I were strangers, and we communicated - it was really neat. The simple things in life are out there for you - look for them. And next birthday, buy yourself your favorite consumable because you deserve to celebrate! Some people may think I'm a little odd but that's okay; they probably have forgotten to have fun!

I've distanced and self isolated for over 8 years now; I don't trust people either. Alot of it comes from bad experiences and my anxiety. I love my solitude, but I want to talk with strangers again. I've been working on my anxiety and learning better communication so that I can. Some interactions are nice, but a lot in the past were negative &/or a trick. People seem to have gotten worse now, as well. It's going to take some more time, but with small steps I might be able to have friends again.

That entire concept is the problem. The fact that modern people think it's their PARTNERS responsibility to make them happy. That's absurd. Truly. Make yourself happy. As an adult your responsible for your emotions. Someone else shouldn't curb what they want and make constant concessions to give their partner what they want. I can think of few things more selfish than expecting someone to only do what pleases their partner. That's not love, it's servitude. The absolute entitlement and arrogance of that is astounding.

Not having to worry about when the next blowup is coming, worrying about what they’re lying about, are they cheating or hiding something, watching what you say or do so you don’t trigger them etc is so freeing. The lack of stress and anxiety and the peace that comes with being alone is priceless.

They heavily judge those who don't focus on relationships and label them as "stupid" or "weird". That always struck me because their line of thinking connects to what society wants us to think of those who are outcasts. Me, I currently don't understand why we should even be in relationships. I find happiness in solitude and in the hobbies I pursue.

I don’t see the link between the title and the content - you don’t need to be alone to do this, nor does it result in being alone. This is about taking personal responsibility, not waiting for others.
