What happens when your budgie lays eggs? Here's how our first experience was with a budgie laying eggs.
Our Misty surprised us by deciding to breed and lay 5 eggs! We never thought she would choose a partner, but she proved us wrong. Out of the blue, Cyan and Misty started showing interest for each other.
Now we have 4 little eggs in the nest (she ate one), waiting to hatch. If you're wondering how it looks when your budgie lays eggs, this video might help :)

Nemo is back with my parents quite far away in another country 🙁 But he fully recovered and is doing great 😄 Pacalina is one of the birds we got from family (together with Cyan), I was calling her Annie before but I prefer the name Pacalina 😋 Yes Cyan is very proud of the nest, eggs and his wife Misty 😁

Congrats on misty laying eggs , :) sorry I didn't get back to you about mason jar ,as my mum had bad stroke , I got mine on amazon , put in search seed sprout mason hope this help

This was so helpful thankyou so much today my budgie sky and blue they mated and she layed her second egg but unfortunately the budgie had drop and it cracked but now she layed her second egg and she is currently keeping it warm I'll like the video to save it

True, by breeding I just meant that one couple would lay eggs and have chicks. Sorry if the language I used was a bit confusing! We don't want to have more than one nest because it would be too much for the size of the room 😊

What happened to mini? I'm confused, why couldn't she lay eggs?

I'm not sure why Mini has it, but there are several reasons why some budgies can't lay eggs. Sometimes it's genetic, some problem in their genes that makes it impossible to make eggs. Sometimes it's overweight or malnutrition. Mini is a bit heavy, so maybe that's why she sometimes has problems.

In my, opinion it's not good to breed birds. You need to have a lot of knowledge and be very, very careful. It's kind of risky. Do several checks to your birds to be sure they are okay. Btw, could you make a video introducing us all of your birds because I am a little confused...

I know, it's very risky with egg binding and things like that. We monitor them very closely and we don't intend on letting others lay eggs after this. We'll remove the nest so they can all rest 😊 I currently have a meet our birds play list here: Meet Our Birds: ru-vid.com/group/PL1X-WIMt22kgW-WwR_XmdSWAH1I_65TpN It's not complete yet because Cyan and Pacalina are quite new to the flock. But I want to make videos for them as well later on.

When they're adults, it's quite easy: blue cere is a male, brown cere is a female. When they're babies, I've noticed some things. Our female babies had blue ceres with some white around the nostrils, our males had pink-ish ceres. They all start with similar ceres but then you start seeing some differences. It also looked like the males had more rectangular ceres and the females more heart-shaped. And the males had more greyish feet while the females had pinkish feet. They're small differences, but if you look closely you can sometimes guess the gender of baby budgies as well.
