LYRICS: i once had some sweet memories It's worth remains all the same How can I remember those moments, sweetheart? Tell Me TELL ME If there's a man who can make anything Give me the tools to live in the past It's all gone down so deep, I can't see anymore. If that's not the way to go Let me Let Me Let me carve your way I'm a shadow, always... with you.
Question from someone who hasn't played the series - what's the context of this song? It's REALLY atypical for a fighting game. What does it reflect about the character? I've been listening to a bunch of Guilty Gear music, and it's so strange when compared to other fighting games - but I sort of dig it.
This is the ending part of Zato-1's theme, Let Me Carve Your Way. Zato-1 is an assasain who traded his eyesight for the ability to control shadows, but unknown to him, his shadow was alive and started slowly killing him. A little bit before he died, his lover betrayed him, and then he died, with his shadow now controlling his corpse like a puppet. Eventually, he was revived, but lost the ability to feel emotions. He now only feels something around his former lover, Millia, but he is not sure if it is love or hate. His theme reflects his regret over everything he has done, destroying his life and the life of the one he loved, all for the sake of power. However, there is a faint glimmer of hope, with the last line being "I'm a shadow always with you" being (I think) a reference to how he now stays with Millia, acting as her bodyguard and companion.
