The reason why it took me so long to release a 7 minute video is because I lacked urgency. It even took me 5 minutes to write this stupid description.

I like to imagine that truttle isn't just voice acting all of the characters in these videos. They're all his split personalities and whichever one he uses at the end of the video is what he stays with until the beginning of the next video.

oh don’t worry i only have 3794289 split personalities

That’s actually a really creative way of storing data without being able to use variables and stuff. Entirely useless, but I guess that’s esolangs for ya

I can't get enough of these characters... I came for the esolangs but now I'm here for the characters.

Whenever! reminds me of bash's & operator. For those unaware: when placed at the end of a line, it makes the command on that line run as a background task, allowing you to continue doing stuff. "jobs" lists the background jobs' statuses. "fg" and "bg" are for sending jobs to the foreground or background. "wait" blocks until (background) jobs are done and can be configured with options/switches. It *does* however have variables.

Yoo love these videos, they’re edited and written so well

My guess: It's an esolang that goes through each line whenever

I absolutely adore your channel. It's really informative and completely absurdly comedic at the same time. Keep up the fantastic work

This is actually really interesting, a similar concept could (impracticaly) allow a program to easily run on multiple cores. Useless as is but imagine a language that let you say something like sep() to run multiple lines at once and then defer() to make sure it isn't ran early. I'm no expert, but this seems like it would work out but may already exist in a way

When I read the title, I thought it was going to be a reactive paradigm type thing where a particular line would be called "whenever" the condition happens to be satisfied in the whole program (using global variables I guess).

The fact that several commands can be stored on a single line and be ran in the chronological order kinda makes this whole language's gimmick entirely bypass-able

From testing, it does appear that you can put print statements inside of a defer statement. It evaluates to false and runs whatever is after it. You can print things in a guaranteed order using something like '1 defer(print("Hello")) print("World");'. However, if you want to do any actual programming, the only way to do loops and conditionals is through clever combinations of defer, again, and forget. These statements are a bit incompatible with sequential flow. Also, any manipulation of data is impossible, since the "change number of copies of a line" statement is not a valid expression.

I suggest you take a look at Hexagony in a future video. It treats the code as if it were a hexagon like other 2d languages treat the code like a rectangle. It was recently added to code.golf.
