Gypsy, in fine form. A great song by this underrated calypsonian. This was when music was music, great lyrics, melody and a wonderful beat. This song is still so relevant today in 2014.
I think this is the best composition that Gypsy released in 1985. It was a social commentary song. I think 'Where Do We Go From Here' is a great song. His other song in the following year of 1986 'The Sinking Ship' was one of his best composition up to date. I have the song from his titled track album The Action Too High from 1986. I'll put it up soon.
When I listen to our Great Kaisonians I can't help but feel so sad for our culture...it is losing ground ...soca has been Jamaicanized our present calypsonians are trying but the fact that the word calypsonian comes up as a wrongly spelled word says it all. We as Trinidadians have to regain our culture look at what is happening to us without it. bring back our Kaiso!
I was brought here because of Gypsy's interview with DJ Rawkus. What a bright, innovative man, he is; a real, conscious Trinidadian. I'd never heard of him before, but you should check that interview, I'm so impressed with him!
