He seems totally in control of the instrument; the way he swings sounds like he's improvising yet he literally got all of the parts right (with couple of his own tasteful twists here and there). Great work!
This is just the right prove that you don´t need a very BIIIIIIGGGGG kit when you are a good musician but especialy when you have the Vibe to play . Brandon...you are not "just playing " the song....YOU´RE FEELING THE FUCKING SHIT
Allow me to explain something about this. We have cars with a lot of technology now days. Drummers cheat all the time as well with hi hats every where and drums even up their ass. Cymbals not to mention we could wear them as hats.....this guy is the Raw Bad Ass as Drummer as a 1968 Camaro . Just plane jane on your face. 👍👍👍. I know what I am talking about. I'm just as raw as that. Drumming is my passion. Kudos to this guy. Simple and Heavy. No BS.👊👊👊👍☝
Nicko doesn't use all his set on every song jaja Maiden has lots of instrumental songs, imagine having to go get a drum piece every 2 or 3 songs in concert
This, in my opinion, is the hardest Maiden's song to play, yet it seems like you play it without any much effort. Oh, and with a very simple set, too! Simply the best drum cover of this song I've ever seen on this site
@@erichand7548 IM drumming isn't needlessly fast or filled with fillers. Ask any real heavy metal drummer, playing songs like run to the hills and where eagles dare is extremely taxing on your arms. It's frikin amazing how Niko plays them so effortlessly, live, at the age of 60+!!! Playing double bass isn't so hard. This stuff is actually hard!
@@erichand7548 Just like Led Zeppelin drums aren't hard right? It's in the player. No-one sounds like Bonham, and no-one sounds like Nicko. It's not about hard or easy in terms of hitting the notes, it's about the legends that played it and their feel.
Clear proof that you don't need a fancy drum set to play one of the most difficut and iconic Iron Maiden drum arrangemets, you just need massive talent. Great job man!
I remmember the first time i was at work and decided "let's see a where eagles dare drum cover. no one can do it even close to Nicko" then this guy showd up xD Great fuckn job! Up the fuckn IRONS!
The best Where Eagles Dare cover on RU-vid. Very nice technique. Awesome sound. Even with 2 toms, the cover is near to Nicko's playing with the minutiae -bass drum kick both with snare on hi-hat playing themes, are here. Like
Love the accuracy of this cover. And hats off to Nicko for coming up with such a outstanding drum arrangement... What a legend. Right, now where do I begin trying to learn this?!
Man! You have such a good groove that is just awesome. It's exactly what the tune is. It's way more of a jazzy groove than a straight rock tune. . . if ya know what I mean. Great feel! Awesome job!
And this, my children, was the grand opening of the Nicko McBrain era of Iron Maiden in 1983. The first song on the first album with him. For me, mind-blowing drumming until this day, after all those years. @Brandon Bolt: Your cover is amazing, you really nailed those tripple and quadrupple kicks AND: You made this sound really full, even without a massive multi-tom and multi-cymbal Nicko-sized kit. Great job. Up the Irons! ;)
¡¡IM-PRE-SIO-NAN-TE!! Estaba pensando "dicen que es el mejor tema de Nicko... 'vamos' a buscarlo". Y se me cruzó, "quizás alguien lo hace cover", y en ese preciso instante me imaginé MUCHOS intentando o hacerlo bien, o ejecutarlo con... ganas, con verdadera alma... ¡¡Y te fuiste al carajo, man!! ¡Nada, absolutamente nada que reprochar! ¡Todo por elogiar! ¡Insisto: BUENÍSIMO!!!! Saludos, ¡y seguí así!
As a non drummer I am amazed to see people play this good on a "small" drum set. This prove that you dont need a huge drum set to play :) must start playin drums :)
Since this was right after Clive Burr set such high standards of drumming, Nicko mcBrain ended up giving his best shit straight out in the first song he played for iron maiden ever. This drum cover is not just simply brilliant but shows to full extent the efforts in both composition and cover play ! Awesome shit !
What I absolutely love about this cover is the fact that (despite what some say on here) that it is NOT a note-for-note cover, far from it actually. Rather, Brandon made it his own, by reproducing Nicko's awesome track at times, and tastefully improvising his own fills/beats in lieu of Nicko's at other times. Simply put, this cover is a grandiose tribute to one of Maiden's best songs and Nicko's finest works, played by a very, very talented guy who is immersed in his art and reminds us that you don't need a huge kit to make a big impression. Well done!
Thanks for uploading, this is EXCELLENT. All of us lay people appreciate this is McBrain's splashy entrance to Maiden's Piece of Mind, but I had no idea it was so technically challenging. O.O
I'm going to have to second that .. Considering Nicko plays this today on a what? 8+ piece kit? I think he sports some 6 rack toms at times .. Here is another 4 piece wizard that you may not have heard of .. But probably should be aware of .. Of just what can be accomplished on these basic "jazz" kits .. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y6IYM6W3B6M.html
@@fooser77 I think it's a 15 piece drum set its all for show it like kiss n van Halen they have all those guitar n bass amp but just use one the rest of them don't have speakers
You fit well Nicko's Groove (i hope my english it's correct), and it's absolutely not simple . Congratulations ! Maybe the best drum cover i've ever heard on youtube of an iron maiden song
I wasn't gonna click when I seen the small kit glad now I did. I always thought u would need a big kit to play maiden stuff. This is just unbelievable this guy is a genius total groove hope he makes it big some day.
Now this is what I'm talkin' 'bout!! This guy killed the epic song!!! Not by copying how big the kit, but by THE SKILL!! The legendary Nicko can play with a big kit. He is a legend and has made his mark in metal, rock and music. This guy did a superb job with a small kit!!! Much kudos to you man. I am saving!!!!! UP THE FUCKIN' IRONS! RESPECT TO NICKO MCBRAIN!!!!
Man.. I hope you're in a band or drumming professionally now or considering it in the future. You get more out of those 7-pieces than most drummers do with 15. Any musician/band or music school would be lucky to have you as a drummer or student...hell, you could prob just skip that step and go directly to faculty member haha.
Blimey...I mean really awesome stuff here. Granted I am a Maiden fan, but still! The drumming is just way out and up there. Simply awesome...simply, simply awesome...
It's not a recent video and I only discover it now... the very best cover of this song i've ever heard! It's accurasing and so close to the original (hi hat at 2:34 love it). Great job man!
You have a lot of groove!!I'm a very old time maiden fan and now i call this one "where Brandon dare"!From a drummer to a drummer i say you are Great!!!
I never comment on youtube, but man I keep coming back to this video. brilliant performance, genius energy - one of my favorite songs, thank you for sharing your talent!
