My niece was diagnosed with TAPVD immediately after she was born. She was transferred to The Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne. She underwent open heart surgery only hours after birth and continued her stay in intensive care for a further 2 months. I can fully understand what you and your family have been through. It is such a traumatic experience for a family to go through. Although she needs to have ongoing checks for the rest of her life she now lives a happy and healthy life. Hi Michelle! I’m so glad to see you back and giving a little update about where you’ve been. I’m so sorry for your family’s struggle. I can imagine and do know the difficulty, grief and pain of what you’ve been through; yet each parents experience with major medical conditions in their children is completely different. I can empathize and understand where you’re at; know that you are not alone! I am also the mother of a baby with congenital heart disease. My second was born with a large ventricular septal defect, double outlet right ventricle, and A very narrow aortic arch. She had her first surgery at 9 days old and the second at 8 1/2 months. She is now 2 years old and vibrantly active! We too feel incredibly blessed and we are also “lucky ones” in the sense that her condition and outcome could have resulted much differently. We spent months in the hospital and also went in and out to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Interstage (between surgeries) was the hardest season of her and our lives.Congenital heart disease is definitely on the rise and awareness is a wonderful start. I very much admire and commend you for getting on RU-vid and making even this brief video about it! Your peace and strength is heard in your voice. I may have shed tears through this video of grief for you, but also so much gratitude and joy to see your sweet boy moving about so actively beside you. As a Heart mama, you wish upon the most basic function of your baby’s body and become a grateful for what is normal and natural for most others. Woow, we had the exact same story almost 11 months ago with our baby boy as well. Also TAPVD, Mix type. As you said- traumatic and hard, but we are the lucky ones. Wish him and you guys only happiness and health!!
Hi I love your channel and I can relate to this situation I am 39 years old and I was born with a congenital heart disease and life was never easy, but I think I have done 100 more things than the doctors would ever imagen. I manage to a lot and also do a little miracle I got pregnant and having my baby boy 7 years ago. anyway we born with some problem but that doesn't mean life won't be amazing.
