Yeah Splatoon 1 finale was a lot better. I kinda felt a bit let down with the finale of this game. Ah well, still a great game. Just hope Splatoon 3 goes above and beyond.
I can't remember where I read this but I think what happened is that while Cuttlefish was asleep Octavio rocked his snow globe around till it fell over and cracked. That's why it has bandages and or stickers on the top. I'm not quite sure though if that's what really happened.
You can fight the final boss again and get different dialogue. And for the weapons, if you use a weapon for every level in the game you unlock it in multiplayer mode
Josiah The GamerArtist yep, Callie's is the roller, would have been interesting if she'd won the final splatfest and somehow had to hit a hypnotised Marie with a roller.
Sparx632 If you think about it, the rollers in Splatoon 2 have about half the range of a charger when you swing them sideways. If she used a dynamo roller, and swung it vertically, Callie would've taken down the goggles.
Comparisons! The first Splatoon game had the better battle & music (DJ Octavio, Squid Sisters). Splatoon 2? Better final phase!👍 The last weapon was the best part, plus the style of battle. It was awesome!😄
In the Squid Sister stories it's stated that when Marie went searching for Callie she discovered that Octavio's globe was shattered, and he was gone. Presumably they grabbed Octavio around the same time Callie disappeared.
I liked the single player in Splatoon 1 more. Everything was new and it was a fresh experience. Splatoon 2's single player didn't add enough new things in my opinion
I LOVED THIS BOSS! While it wasn't as good as the first Octavio fight, the moment when I saw that the weapon in the case was the rainmaker, I flipped. It got better when I got on a STALLORD STYLE GRIND RAIL!!!!! I loved the ending too.
21:56 i don't know if you know this but if you complete EVERY stage and beat EVERY boss with EVERY weapon you can unlock them at sheldons shop and buy them and use them in online modes. so upgrading every weapon can make THAT grind a bit easier (especially since there are levels/bosses that are harder to do with certain weapons)
Experienced this myself almost 2 weeks ago and thank Version 3 that we can see her and Marie at anytime. I even got the Callie Amiibo recently and did a pic of her and my Inksona which I posted on Twitter. ^^
To answer your question about Octavio being here: the Squid Sisters Stories indicated that Marie found a broken snow globe, meaning Octavio found a way to break it open and escape. It was most likely some time after Cap'n Cuttlefish left with Agent 3 (that info is in a Sunken Scroll btw). I think it was implied that Octavio kept hitting it until it tipped over and shattered. Even still, I would like to know more lore about how the Inklings think about Octarians now. If anything, they might be perfectly fine with them and willing to coexist with Octarians if Marina is any indication of that. My theory is that Octavio is a dictator of sorts that just can't let the past go and won't move on from The Great Turf War. I have this feeling that a lot of Octarians we took on did this against their will.
Ya know what I did in the boss? Send Curling Bombs everywhere on the map. That way I had paths to dodge attacks while I could focus on splatting fists.
I enjoyed the final boss. They don't really explain exactly why or how Callie got taken by Octavio, but the Sunken Scrolls and Squid Sister Stories do give a little food for thought on possible reasons. It's clear that over time, Callie and Marie had less time to spend together and Callie was getting a little overwhelmed by fame and schedules. Maybe Callie wanted something different in her life and started vlogging about decorating tips to Octarians like in that one Sunken Scroll. Maybe Octavio took advantage of Callie's current state and brainwashed her from there. I dunno, just thinking out loud. The one question that was never answered however is how Marina, an Octoling, became a pop star in the Inkling world.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventures is an anime adaptation of a popular manga in Japan. There are 8 total parts which each have a different cast of characters and plots. Only up to part 4 has been animated. A jojo reference is well, a reference to certain characteristics or characters in the anime or manga. Most of the time the reference will be a pose or a "stand". It's a punching ghost basically. For example, Callie was doing multiple poses, which most of the characters in Jojo have a unique pose to them. Do you see it now?
PK while I do agree with you on the fact that the Octarians need better background, DJ Octavio getting out does make some sense. if you play the final boss battle again at the end of Splatoon 1 Captain Cuttlefish talks about how Octavio got out of captivity even though he was being watched, it makes sense to say Octavio got out while Cuttlefish was "watching" him
I'm kinda low key disappointed about the ending I feel like they could've added more to it. They could've added more story about why he did what he did.
The final section with the Rainmaker was very epic, but I honestly overall didn't like the final boss. They just did the final boss from the first game yet they somehow made it worse. I wish they just had Callie as the solo final boss and done something completely new. I hated how I knew exactly what to do as soon as the battle started.
See I only got to playthrough the splatoon 2 singleplayer fully because my copy of the first game had a problem where it would crash anytime I entered level 6 but I do know of the final boss and ending and to be honest I prefer the ending to splatoon 2, after a long and hard fought journey you find the main villian who has also brainwashed the one you are trying to save, the music in all the phases of this fight really capture that feel and at first you can hear the affect of the brainwashing in Bomb Rush Blush but then in phase two when Tidal Rush plays it sounds more upbeat and hopeful and Callie has a change in tone when singing that can be heard and then when she finally escapes from Octavios grasp, Spicy Calamari Inkantation plays which sounds very triumphant and makes you feel like nothing can stop you, and to add to the matter you obtain the rainmaker which I am pretty sure something like that would make anyone hyped. Using the launchpad to get up to the grindrails you can see the squid sisters on the big screen and on top of the truck that they danced on top of during splatfests in the first game, flying through the air while Sheldon drove it around the perimeter of the arena, I also loved the little flair with planting the rainmaker and the victory tape appearing, it was a really nice touch. In comparison the buildup in Splatoon 1 did not seem as high stakes since the lose in power was not majorly affecting the population and besides that there was not too much at risk and the boss itself was great but the phases were not majorly different and were moreso small additions to his arsenal and the music that plays builds up throughout the battle and then it just gets swapped out for Calamari Inkantation which granted I am okay with due to it being a great and fitting song but nonetheless. One last thing I wanted to mention is the credit themes of both games, credits kinda give closure and visuals and music during them really helps to drive some feelings home for a lot of people, the concept of throwing burst bombs and shooting the wall to reveal credits exists in both games but the visuals for the 2nd had two things that really stood out to me: 1. The Splatoon 2 dude holding the dualies 2. Callie and Marie sitting on top of the performance truck with a defeated Octavio next to them I liked these little thins that even though the game has not been out for a week and a half, give off a sense of nostalgia and Fresh Start really caps it off as a credit theme, Maritime Memory was also a great song but to be honest I do not remember any of the visuals from it which might be due to me watching LP's instead of playing it firsthand. Anyways that is what I think of the comparison of the two storymodes, have a good day to all of you and remember to stay fresh!
surprised u didnt make the final phase of the fight more epic and grinded the ink rail the whole phase instead of swimming thru it like the first game, you lose the charge on the rainmaker if you duck down inside the inkline as well.......
