I got skunked in that same cove 2 weeks ago with my son , saw one lighting trout with a trout magnet hanging out of its mouth but that was it. no bites

I was thinking it’s a great fishery but I guess that’s if your on the boat.

@@fitfishing I was talking to a boater that had a bass tournament there and he was snuggling for 3 days trying to locate the bass. Weather going from rain to hot again and a lot of people say the strippers eat the trout up after the 1st week or so.. You real need to hit it right after a stock. Hemet Lake had some success there and the size of the trout where huge with easy shore access and only a $5 wilderness parking pass... great for taking the kids too

Learned my lesson (for shore fishing) you gotta fish this lake within 3-4 days after they stock the lake. Besides fisherman catching them within this time frame and having big predatory fish (Stripped Bass) them trout are not going to stick around them coves.

I agree i was a young buck years ago when this lake was built i now live in AZ the water in DVL is from the Colorado river .. stripers are definitely one of the main predators in that lake buuut there’s something ever more territorial and aggressive … flatheads they will eat anything and everything that swims
