In this video, find out where the Collar is on a propane tank and why the Collar is important. The Collar on a propane tank has three main functions. First, the collar is where the handle is located to carry the propane tank. Handling and moving a propane tank without the handle would be very awkward. Also, the Collar protects the propane tank's shutoff valve from getting damaged. A damaged valve can leak propane gas. Lastly, the Collar has important manufacturing information about the propane tank stamped on it, such as the expiration date.
