I think bigger topic with Laine is how great it is that he's better, mental health is delicate thing and nothing is more important than NHL getting a healthier Laine back.
I expect Washington will make a big push here given their recent aggressiveness and their recent salary cap space from the Kuznetsov termination. Washington likes size and they need a scoring 2LW. His contract ends exactly when Ovechkin retires which means Washington could seamlessly re-sign him. His age is exactly where the Caps have been acquiring.
Not giving Stamkos what he wanted is probably going to be a positive career defining move for BriseBois. It will most likely extend their competitive window compare to keeping Stamkos at the price Nashville paid.
Honest question : what cap space? They currently have $6.44M in cap space and they haven't signed Jarvis yet (who should be getting at least $6M). What am I missing?
Feels like he will stay in Columbus? Josh Anderson has an 8 team no trade list. Gallagher And Price have the only NMC in Montreal. Bergevin is handing them out like candy but it seems that Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, william Nylander, Morgan Rielly and John Tavares all have them and Tyler Bertuzzi had one. Hmm Apparently it wasn't that crazy.
It will be interesting to see If Laine actually has a diagnosis and medication (bipolar?) to it. It could fix his streakiness. I mean, when you hit low, you’re extremely low and when you hit high you’re flying. Fits the picture pretty well.
Here is my optimum "spend to the cap" suggestion. I'm Nobody Important in Hamilton. I'd love to hear what you think. 30 Million Top 6 forwards 10 Million Bottom 6 forwards 20 Million Top 4 defencemen 12 Million Bottom 3 defencemen 8 Million 2 Goaltenders 3 Million Goon, healthy scratch roster, AHL callups 80 + 3 total
I doubt the Jackets send Laine to a team in the eastern conference. I think they will most likely keep him until he re-establishes his trade value. His trade value won't go any lower, but it can go higher. If and when he is moved, I would think his probable destinations would be Utah or Anaheim. The whole notion that he's on his way to Toronto or Montreal is a creation of the Canadian hockey media. It's certain sportswriters throwing ideas out there they hope will stick that gets Laine traded to their favorite team for a bag of doughnuts.
OMG Montreal get him for Harris but also a second pick in bonus because the Jackets don't retain any salary , this can be good for montreal even if he doesn't sigh after the 2 years left on his contract because if he's half what he was in winnipeg , we will get something good at the deadline for him also.
I think teams want Laine for cheap but the CBJ knows how good Laine is and wants market value for him. My guess is that if there's a taker for PLD at $8.5mil/season times 7 or 8yrs without salary retention, then there should be taker for Laine... Reference what the Kings paid to acquire PLD from the Jets, Laine would probably fetch a similar package...
Jackets are gonna need to eat $3-$4m of his cap hit unless they throw in a 1st rd pick. Def not an $8m/player, he only plays half the games and is one-dimensional....
Houston will get a team before Arizona. Houston has been on the radar and ready to go for more than 10 years now. So next expansion I see Atlanta and Houston.
Wait just a hot second! First, why name the 15min video about Laine and talk about him for 2:30?? Second, you honestly think Kent Johnson is a capable 1C?! What planet are you on??? Clearly not actually following the news in CBJ land cuz PL played C for like 2 games and that was over. Old news. PL/JG just don’t work. Tried over and over. They just don’t. KJ is like the 7th C on that team now. New 1st line Gaudreau-Monahan-Marchenko. Cycle Laine in there when he’s healthy.
JBB is doing an amazing job in TB. The Lightning will continue to be competitive for years longer than any other GM could have achieved with this roster.
10:40 “Nashville we know is a good team” Huh? How do you know they’re a good team? They didn’t make the playoffs and they have a lot of new talent incoming. How can you possibly say “we know they’re a good team”? wtf? F the Preds btw. Go Stars
It’s not Fortnite. It’s mental health, probably related to getting concussed and losing his father unexpectedly. The Fortnite guy that you are thinking of was drafted by “a high-profile franchise” and you have no idea what his name is. Winnipeg is not, and has never been, a high-profile team in the NHL.
Laine to Toronto!! He seems to get his motor revved up around Austin Matthews I think if he was on Toronto he and Austin would have a rivalry and push each other
Laine sucks… any team he’s on suffers, and is immediately better after his departure. Look at Winnipeg. Hope he ends up in San Jose or Anaheim… let him fade away into nothingness
With Laine Jets got some success, but after that not so much. And he was one main guys when they went far on playoffs. But Laine has big flaws on his game, would need on his line good center feeding puck and 2-way guy to defence. Mostly on his career he had Brian Little and Boone Jenner as a center. That's not good enough. Also Jets have good team now even if there haven't been success yet after Laine.
No where, he's a waste of skin... why must guys like this makw 10 million dollar contracts when there are thousands of players around the world who will give there all.
