A genuine question is 450 really necessary? I just recently started seeing flat Irons being sold that go that high. Is that heat only appropriate for people with tighter curls/ oils and thicker strands only?

450 is all I use unless the have a really loose curl pattern. Using a lower temperature won’t make the style last or get as sleek

I have the same hair type as her. If I use under 450 my hair is frizzy the next day. Could be my products as well. But that’s my experience. I flat iron every two weeks. It only lasts the whole two weeks if I silk at 450.

I also had been trying to heat train my hair. But it isn’t working. It’s always a Bush again when I wash it. Sigh.

I use 450 and been using it for years and my hair is not 4c. It works for me and my hair is healthy. It's a personal choice.

Yep, other than that it won't last long. It may look nice for a minute but 450 gives you the 2 or 3 weeks of straight hair.
