ASA has become my go to for anything needing to be tougher than pla. With an enclosed printer, like the P1S I'm using, it's been hassle free.

Definitely, but it is usually more expensive than ABS, so maybe overkill if you don't need the UV protection.

@thenextlayer funny enough I've barely even touched abs. Petg is a great, more cost effective choice though. I am curious if asa would be better for aquarium goods that are 3d printed over petg. Flow nozzles and such I've done in petg, and even tpu in saltwater. Can't say any have seemed to breakdown yet, but my oldest one is maybe 4 years.

@@casualreefkeepingwhat kind of petg Filament are you using in your Aquarium. I have problems with my petg because it seems to get eaten by the bacteria.

@sbs7396 I was buying a lot of duramic or Inland but I've never noticed that issue with any brand I've used before.

Can I use the ABS setting on my printer to use for ASA?
@thenextlayer
@thenextlayer 8 месяцев назад
Kinda. You should up the bed temp and hot end temp by around 10 degrees each ideally.

See what it says on the package. Different brands may vary a bit.

How is abs rigid?
@boqs
@boqs 7 дней назад
impact resistant. PLA and PETG can not handle sudden impacts very well as they are strong but brittle.
@riba2233
@riba2233 7 дней назад
@@boqs that is all fine but when saying rigid we are talking about he bending modulus, and abs has almost half the stiffness of pla so not really rigid.
@boqs
@boqs 7 дней назад
@@riba2233 True. My bad. English is not my main language, so technical accuracy can be hard for me. Video just said ABS is rigid without comparing it to other materials. Is there any settings which you would chose PETG or PLA over ABS because of its rigidity?
@riba2233
@riba2233 7 дней назад
@@boqs petg is similar to abs, also not as rigid. There are definitely some applications where you want higher bending modulus, that is why we use gf and cf infused materials which have even higher modulus and can be very stiff.
