There are so many acids out there that it can be tough choosing which one you should be using on your skin. Well, rest assured that even if you chose the “wrong” one, it will still most likely help you with your issues - because really, acids all perform the same task - dissolving the bonds that hold the dead skin to your face.
**I want to mention something here regarding the Fitzpatrick Skin Typing. This is in regards to what color skin you have, how you burn, or freckle in the sun. If you have type 4, 5 or 6
**these are the medium to darker skin types **
then you will almost ALWAYS want to prepare your skin with a melanin inhibitor before applying a higher percentage or a stronger acid. If you are unsure - error on the side of caution. A melanin inhibitor such as our Fade Bright should be applied for at least 2 weeks prior to a peel.
This will help to dramatically lessen the chances that you could get Post inflammatory hyper pigmentation after a peel. ***
Now, let's find out which acid is the best one for your issues.
We can target:
Acne
Fine lines
Deeper lines
Scarring
Hyperpigmentation
Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation

I’ve never done a chemical peel in my life and last night I did 3 passes of tca 7% and I am hooked!!! It was so easy, I watched your videos 20 times each probably lol, I knew exactly what to do, everything went great! My skin has never felt so smooth EVER! I absolutely love your content. It's very informative, precise and easy to follow. Unfortunately being in South Africa, we don't have access to your products and have to do with alternatives. The range of acid peels available to buy is very limited, unless if you go to ridiculously overpriced clinics for treatments. Jessners are hard, if not impossible to find. The rest are sold at ridiculously low % (e.g. -TCA 4% and 6%) yet very pricey. Highest Lactic you can get is 40% and salicylic is 30%. On the other hand, you find different % for same quantity of the same peel going for the same price (e.g. 10ml of Lactic 20% is same as 10ml for 40%)🤣! Like, its so ridiculous, I don't even think anyone knows what they are doing!
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 3 года назад
Well, that can certainly happen. Saliyclic 30% would be VERY strong. The 4 and 6% TCA... yes very low and would require probably about 5-8 layers to get a good peel on the face. We are glad that you found us.

I'm a bit confused. This video tells me that mandelic is stronger than lactic. However, I read something different. "Mandelic acid has a larger molecular size than lactic acid, which means it penetrates the skin more slowly and is less irritating."
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare Год назад
Yes... but molecular size isn't everything! TCA has an even bigger molecule (almost triple the size of lactic) - and look what THAT can do! :) Basically anything with a dalton of 500 or less will penetrate the skin with ease.

Which peel is best for dark skin,without developing hyperpigmentation?Thank you.
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 2 года назад
It is always best if darker skin types use a melanin inhibitor like alpha arbutin (in our Fade Bright) or hydroquinone to lessen the melanin production prior to peels. But, "generally" the milder acids are just fine. The acid choice really depends on what you are wanting to treat? Acne = Salicylic 15 or Mandelic 40. Very sensitive skin = Mandelic 22. General refreshening = Glycolic 30 These are each great options.

I'm 45 and I have very wrinkled hands due to working in the sun without gloves for decades. Is there a way to reverse this damage with TCA peels? The other option is laser but that's a last resort.
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare Год назад
You can absolutely do TCA peels on your hands! It works very well. It can take 20-30 days to start and finish the flaking process - but, that is normal for body parts. :) Use lots of emu oil and/or shea butter to keep them as moist as possible during this phase. See this video on how to do that: www.platinumskincare.com/hand-and-body-peeling-tca-30-versus-glycolic-70-demonstration/ And this video: www.platinumskincare.com/body-peels-which-acid-what-percentage-fitzpatrick/ Remember that you will have to 100% protect your hands going forward. Gloves and High SPF always.

Very informative video! I've struggled with malasma and hyperpigmentation for years and have decided 2020 is when I need to do something about it. I'm approaching my mid 30s with sensitive, dry skin and prone to monthly hormonal breakouts which always leave a scar. I'm currently using the ordinary lactic acid 10% with HA 3x per week. I suspect I may need something stronger but I'm super nervous! I use spf 40 sunscreen. I'm at a loss with my skin. Any Suggestions?
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 4 года назад
10% lactic is pretty mild. I would suggest starting up with a weekly 50% Lactic peel. Then Fade Bright (or hydroquinone) 2x per day along with SPF 50. Retinoids at night will help the turnover as well. Consider something like our .20% Retinol Molecular Serum.

@PlatinumSkinCare

A melain inhibitor is generally only needed on those with ethnic skin tones. Most with very white skin have quite a low chance of getting PIH *though they still can. Now that being said there are many that have had good luck in NOT getting PIH... but that is really just that... "luck". And never forget that you can do 50 peels in a row that go great...but that next one might be different. It is always easier to prep properly than to deal with a negative outcome.

@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare Месяц назад
You do not need a phenol peel unless you have extensive scarring ... or ... you worked in a field the past 20 years without SPF and have very deep lines. :) Looking at your photo - I can't imagine that any doctor would dream of performing this type of peel on you. It requires heart monitoring and can cause death. Please use extreme caution in requesting something like this. Try instead ... a TCA 13. Begin with 2 layers and add on One layer each month. Take photos and watch your skin transform over a 6-8 week peel series. Much safer.

I have a question jennifer. I am black and have acne scarring on my back and shoulder. I prepped my skin with fade bright and melanin inhibitor for six weeks. I also washed my skin with soap and water and then cleaned it with alcohol. I did not spot treat, I applied the skin peel 50 percent on my right deltoid (shoulder area). I waited a few days and saw no frosting and no peeling. I felt a slight tingling/warming sensation when I applied but just the area closest to the arm pit got dry and flaked a little. No peeling. Did I do something wrong? What would you recommend?
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 2 года назад
Hello. You applied a 50% what? Glycolic? TCA? We do not manufacture a 50% TCA... so I can not help you with that. What is normal though on the body... is a peel taking 30 days to exfoliate. Don't expect to see anything for a good 10-14 days.

I think there is a place for ALL of those amazing goodies out there. Needling, peels, lasers... Peels of course are my favorites.. with professional needling and PRF being a 2nd favorite. If you want to jump to TCA... then there are REALLY some positive changes that can be had - guaranteed. TCA has been proven in studies to stimulate collagen and elastin in the skin. So that is the #1 I recommend for anti-aging. For hanging skin.. or excess skin? That is surgery all the way. Nothing can fix loose skin other than a scalpel.

Hello. What we want to stress is that the Mandelic 22 is the LEAST inflammatory peel that we have. It would be the Safest choice if you have Rosacea - but still want to do peels. Now that does not mean that you can NEVER do another peel ... ever. :) It is always your choice and many will use stronger acids on occasion without any issues. But that is the best option to Not Flare your Rosacea.

Hi, I have been using a 50% glycolic acid peel (not my first) for 2 or 3 months, but I have never experienced any peeling or flaking on my face, it does burn and I see very little improvements. A dermatologist told me that is normal that it doesn't peel and that it should be used daily, and I tried to use it more times but not daily. Yesterday it didn't even burn. Sould I start using a TCA peel?
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 3 месяца назад
A 50% glycolic peel should not ever be used daily. Possibly they were referring to an acid serum - like our Serum 15 or Serum 30. Even those you must start off with about 3x per week and work up to daily ... as your skin tolerates/acclimates. AHA peels are not meant to give you a lot of flaking. They are the "lunchtime" peels for a reason. No social downtime. Expect a bit of dryness ... maybe a few flakes with these acids. If you are looking for flaking you need to move to a TCA or Jessners peel. Start with 1-2 layers your first time. Next MONTH you can add on 1 more layer. Continue as you see fit.

If 20% TCA can be applied in 2 or more layers on the whole face, why can't I apply 30% TCA in one single layer?
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare 4 года назад
If you apply an acid that is too strong for your skin....it is possible that your skin may go into a "shock-like" state and purge melanin....which is Post Inflammatory Hyper pigmentation. So you always want to work your way up and follow our guild lines. See the video below on how TCA works... www.platinumskincare.com/understanding-tca-safety-layers-frosting-percentages-schedules-preparation/

Oh... that is not true at all. Don't think for one minute that if you do ONE higher percentage TCA peel you are going to have all of your skin problems solved. Peels don't work that way. No matter what you choose - it is going to be a series of 6-8 peels. TCA is great! But start with the 13% at 1-2 layers and work up to 5 layers* maybe... and then go from there.

I would suggest something simple like adding an acid cleanser to your daily regimen to get some of that off. Revitalizing Cleanser: www.platinumskincare.com/revitalizing-glycolic-cleanser-10/ 1-2x daily will help. Then add on a retinoid at night if you haven't already. Retinoids keep the skin turning over MORE quickly. I suggest Retinol .10 for sensitive skin before bed: www.platinumskincare.com/retinol-molecular-serums-10-20-30/ Now.. if you want to do a peel, I suggest the Mandelic 22. Great for sensitive folks. :) You could do that 1x every 2 weeks.

I will be doing her alternate treatments of RF microneedling and chemical peels at monthly intervals. (every 2 weeks will be one peel. one RF mn.. then 2 weeks later the peels and so on.. we want a good 5 to 6 months or 6 treatments of each to really get her skin transformed I will of course also guide her home care too.

30% glycolic = very mild *Mandelic 40 would be a better option for a mild peel and hyperpigmentation. Can be done 1x every 1-2 weeks. TCA 13% = much stronger. Then layers increase. This is a 1x per month peel. You must wait 1 month prior to doing any other treatments. Most are well to begin with 1-2 layers of TCA 13. That is a common starting point for many. If she has olive or darker skin she will need to pretreat with a melanin inhibitor for 4 weeks prior to a TCA peel. We have a Peel Finder Tool on the website if you are unsure of which acid is best for her needs. Whether or not she wants "social downtime" or a milder acid which gives little to none. That is here: www.platinumskincare.com/peelfindertool

If you are dealing with acne: Salicylic 15% is a great place to start. Mandelic 40% would be another option that is a bit less "harsh". These are each a peel you can do 1x every 7-10 days. ... So about 3-4x per month. A stronger option would be Jessners. That can be applied 1x per month and is layerable.

Can a 30% Salicyclic +20%TCA combination beneficial than TCA alone?
@PlatinumSkinCare
@PlatinumSkinCare Год назад
Use each acid alone. You can layer a Jessners (14% salicylic, 14% resorcinol, 14% lactic) for 1 or more layers prior to a TCA peel. But do not combine these 2 different peels (TCA and Salicylic). 1. You would be diluting each in 1/2. 2. You do not know how the acids will react being combined. 3. You want to use each of these separately to see how each benefits you. 30% salicylic is VERY strong. Use caution with that. 4. You could "potentially" use the salicylic application in place of the Jessners peel. But I would not do this unless you have worked with each peel several times individually.
