Which boost to buy? Lichtlaerm Audio Aesahaettr vs The King in Yellow (Pedal Face-Off) 

Hey man, wanted to see if I can help make it a little more clear, because it can be super confusing. The best way to think about it is tiers of distortion. Boost being the first, then you move into overdrive, then distortion, then fuzz. Best way to think of it is a boost pedal is simply increasing the volume of your clean signal. If you have an amp set to clean, you can use a boost pedal to get an edge of break up tone, or to boost an amp at the edge of break up into a light overdrive. Overdrives start to add gain to the signal, but many like a tubescreamer can be used as a boost. You'd use an overdrive as a boost if you want it to color your sound, where a boost won't color your tone at all. An overdrive being used as a boost can also help you clean up a muddy high gain amp. Distortion is just adding even more gain, and this is where you get into high gain territory if you aren't using a high gain amp like a Mesa or 5150. Then fuzz is just distortion pushed to it's extreme. You can basically think of them all doing the same thing, but adding more and more gain and volume as you go.

it's in fact something we're thinking about - the gate-circuit is pretty sophisticated, tho and will raise the price considerably. We won't compromise on the quality of the gate in a design for sure but a boost/OD with built in gate is definitely an option we're looking at!
