Just a friendly reminder that David King during his media career from 2005-present has written off Geelong to not make finals in the preseason of years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022 and now 2024. Ironically he has missed the years where Geelong failed to make finals in 2023, 2015 and 2006 so take his predictions with a heart attack inducing amount of salt.
@@harryhodges7577 Well you weren't asking a question before you were making a statement, do i believe cats are a chance, then yes i do, do i believe we are most likely i will say no i have pies, lions, port, melb, saints and blues ahead of us. But as we saw last year injuries, form and other external issues can really effect a season. Cats got premiership hangover and were the last team to bring their players back from training and standards were poor as they had the "we just won mentality." Im more optimistic this season as they realised they actually had to put the work in. So i believe they are chance
Pies. Lions. Crows. Swans. Giants. Port. Dogs. Blues. Bombers and Cats to be dangerous. Saints tk be disappointing. Hawthorn to be the best of the bottom 8 with jai Newcombe 😊
Love my Dees but we are in turmoil and are not making the 8. Crows to surge up the ladder and the disrespect of the Cats is crazy, you can never count them out.
Have faith , Yze was a legend BUT he was not flexible on game day coaching and strategy (along boundaries and long to the pocket and reset) last two years , same rubbish. Everyone blames Goody but it was Yze running the game day .Mini is different watch this year and by round 10 you will believe again . The arrogance and hate against our club is amusing. Gus retiring will galvanise the team . We will be stronger this year .
Kane Cornes goes all out to keep Hinkles then says port miss the 8 🤦♂️ What's the point of keeping a coach 12 years if U are missing finals, what an idiot
thats such a valid lock for on finals, st kildas list has so much depth and i mean they only got better through the drafting and recruiting period. they finished 6th, they wont be sliding down 3+ spots.
@@vinton169 You may be right, who knows. It doesn't take much to slide 3 spots. I don't see the Saints with many match winners if any. I think a few other teams might go past them this season. We'll see. They aren't a lock is all.......imho
Kornes is infuriating. He should have a job in political propaganda schemes. Sydney is the team to beat with so many good ins after a down year with a young list. And why are the Tigers so degraded. They still have 13 premiership players and the growth of the 2022 draft list. No different to Geelong.
Stop saying AFL players have to do stuff the public doesn't have to. Most of us do drug and alcohol tests for work. On average it's once a year per player in AFL and it's about 4-5 times on average for anyone in mining, oil and gas, refineries etc. Anonymity is not there. Everyone knows if you go in for a drug test and don't come back to work. It's like going to do a head lice check in school and you don't come back to class. Everyone knows it's because you had nits 😂
My top 8 prediction (Crows fan) Brisbane, Sydney, Collingwood, GWS, Port Adelaide, Carlton, GCS, Adelaide. Notable absentees Melbourne = their off-field drama is going to have a major impact on-field. St Kilda = need another season under the Boss to get the structures working to full potential Geelong = rebuild time Western Bulldogs = still have not sorted their off-field dramas I will come back in September and realise how wrong I was....lol
I agree with the exception of Sydney, I think Melbourne will fall but not out the 8, and I don’t rate Sydney’s 2023 trades, James Jordon is a downgrade from Dylan Stephens, Taylor Adams can’t kick and is constantly injured, Brodie Grundy can’t hold a mark and Joel Hamling is another player who is constantly injured
@@TheLaughingMagpieyou're so deluded. Jordan will be a gun, Adams is a warrior Grundy was BIG behind Warner a day ago against GWS and Stephens was a lazy toad. I'll come back here in September to see the egg on your face
@@thejamesbondshow9754 a warrior meaning leaving a club after being omitted from a grand final when the team wins, doesn’t sound like a warrior at all, sounds like a baby spitting the dummy I’m happy to be wrong about the rest
Carlton makes finals for the first time in 10 years and now everyone thinks they're a lock for top 4. Insanity. Also Sydney and St Kilda are a lock? I'd have Port and Adelaide over those two.
King and others in the media are quick to rule a line through the Cats each year as they're desperate to see new teams play finals. More variety is what they want. They are tired of Geelong being a semi-permanent feature of September action and would prefer to write new stories about new teams. It's exciting if the Suns, GWS or perennial under-performers like the Blues, Bombers and Saints play finals and that's what King and others want to see and it colours and impairs their judgement.
I think you could make a case for the Sydney v. Geelong draw as the worst game of the year (despite what Kingy said at 8:41). I mean, 6-18 v. 7-12? That was not what Mark Howard might call a "ripping game of football" (which is what he said after the Gold Coast v. Essendon draw in 2020).
@@fergulator7297they lost away games by small margins so if they improve and win half games away that's top four with 10 wins or 11 wins home and 5 away gets top four
