I left the Turkish island of Bozcaada in the Aegean Sea and headed back to the Turkish mainland to catch a bus and head south, without knowing where I would end up sleeping for the night.

Hi Gabriel, the anxiety was weighing on you to get back to Greece just to relax but interesting enough you mentioned some interesting islands you to see and experience. This should be a beautiful trip, there are always some interesting things that happen when you haven't been to these new locations but it's part of the adventure, usually, it's something eye-opening.

I always seem to start watching the videos again when Gabriel is in Greece or India. As I myself travel mostly to those countries. I so appreciate to be able to get a glimpse of the scenery and how your laid back traveling style is brilliant. Turkey is another favorite of mine especially Ayvalik! I hope someday you’ll get a quality stay in Ayvalik, I have to mention my favorite coffee house Cafe Caramel, and the local farmers market few times a week, plenty of cute bed and breakfast places. And the food so fresh! Whatever your choices are. It is a true hidden gem. The oldest part has a village like feeling, very creative vibe and the most friendly people too. Cunda island (has a bridge between, so you can drive across) is quite nice if you want to stay by the beach in quiet atmosphere. Look forward basking in the upcoming videos until I start my travel in India in October. Blessings and save travels from Iceland

The ferry is "free" because the fare you pay upfront covers both your trip to the island and back :) Since the ferry is the only way on and off the island, you’ll eventually need to return, and the same goes for vehicles. It's just easier to take care of it all at once :)

I live in Plomari, on the south-eastern coast of Lesbos. You missed to see Ayvalik, which is a pity. It is a very nice place. The hotel rooms are sold out in Mitilini because of the big amount of Turkish tourists visiting the island. The same goes for the southern neighbour island Chios. So, in a way the Turks were celebrating the Republic Day in Greece. Quite ironic. Have a nice stay on this big and versatile island with long distances and quite good roads.

You may also find that there are still tourists around from northern Europe. Generally, the schools don't go back in England and Wales until the second week in September, although I can't speak for other countries. Then you'll get the wave of tourists who aren't goverened by when kids are off school for the summer, who will go to take advantage of the cheaper prices outside of the school holidays, and before the weather cools off too much. P.S. Good to see you back in the Greek Islands! 😊

What's the deal with the pebble beach at Aghios Petros north of Atsitsa on Styros? ( w little chapel ). " On the northwest coast, pine forests grow down from the rocky shore at Atsitsa. Beaches north of town - Kalogria and Kyra Panayia - are sheltered from the strong northern winds... " 💚 Gabe - are the hammock sites there worth the hike? I want Kyria Kali's taverna and fresh fish too, of course. Homemade cheese and basic rooms without electricity or plumbing? Could this still be true? ☆😎☆ ( looks like an hour and 1/2 walk from the airport. )

As you like to see all the Greek & Roman ruins in the Mediterranean area, why you miss Pergama(Pergamum) which is so close to where you board the ferry to Lesbos. Sadly. the Pergamon Altar is in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin. I have given a recommendation of a place in the Peloponnese Peninsula on my comment to your previous Bozcada video & you haven't read it yet, it is highly related the Trojan War in Homer's Odyssey. You may put it in your list of places to visit after touring the North Aegean islands.

Dear Gabriel what you forget to tell your subscribers is a little bit of history about this island. Its real name is TENEDOS and up to the 1960ies it was almost exclusively populated by Greeks. About 11.000 if I remember correctly (the figure includes the sister Island of Imvros) who were then ethnically cleansed from both Islands. The people now inhabiting these Islands were brought in from Asia Minor......The ethnic cleansing took place by means of turning the islands into ''open prisons'' with prisoners brought in from turkish prisons who started raping and pillaging the local populations. Under the treaties which ended the first world war these two Islands were given to Turkey with the obligation to arrange autonomy for the local population but this never happened...

I wish the high prices in Türkiye were just because of a holiday, but that’s not the case. The high inflation has made Türkiye more expensive than Greece, which has historically not been the case as long as I know. I was in Türkiye this summer and was just shocked. $45 for a small fish at dinner.
@david1george
@david1george 20 дней назад
You paid $45 because you either got scammed by the old two menu switchero for foreigners or you went to an expensive area like a restaurant on the Galata Bridge. It happens all the time. Trust me, the average Turk isn't paying $45 for a fish dinner. If you cover my plane ticket from Canada, I can make you a bet for the cost of the plane ticket that I can find you a small fish dinner in Istanbul for under 200TL ($6 US), which is what the average Turk is paying. Most can't afford $45 fish dinners. Turkey is nowhere near as expensive as Greece.
@dadisphat6426
@dadisphat6426 20 дней назад
@@david1georgeno I don’t think so. I AM Turkish and this was not even in a tourist area, nowhere near Istanbul. Go ahead and send me proof you can get a whole levrek or çupra for $6 there . And balik ekmek is not a fish dinner
@david1george
@david1george 20 дней назад
@@dadisphat6426 Are you f'in kidding me?? First, you say "small" fish dinner for $45 and now you you're talking about a whole sea bass or sea bream?? In Canada, Ocean Jewel sells frozen raw mediterranean sea bass or sea bream from Turkey at RCSS for $24/kg CDN or $18/kg US. A whole seabass averages 2.5kg. So, it costs $45 for raw frozen seabass and now you have to pay to cook it and restaurant overhead. $45 is a very reasonable price for that at any restaurant. You couldn't get that for $45 in a Greek restaurant. If you think $45 is expensive , get balik ekmek for $3 like everyone else. Ridiculous.
@dadisphat6426
@dadisphat6426 20 дней назад
Dude chill out. Any Turk or visitor to Türkiye in 2024 that has been there before will tell you about higher prices than before. That was my point. Don’t start arguments for nonsense just because you don’t agree with me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Better things to worry about than whether one person thinks one country is cheaper than the other. If this is your biggest worry today, your life is good. Enjoy it
@david1george
@david1george 20 дней назад
@@dadisphat6426 No, you generalized that Turkey is now more expensive than Greece based on paying $45 for a small dinner, which later turned out to be sea bass. Your generalization was so patently false. It's fairly easy to find a hotel room for $30 in Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya and many other cities in Turkey. Good luck finding a hotel room for anywhere near that in Greece. Turkey is a lot cheaper than Greece overall for a budget traveler. High world commodity input prices doesn't change significantly from country to country.

The Greeks, Serbians, Albanians, Montenergrians all fought for Independence from the Ottaman Empire. Seberia and Greece became Countries in the mid 1800s. The wars in the decade prior to 1923 against Bulgaria and Turkey expanded greek land in the North by 40% to what it is now. But after a change of Government and Hubris they were defeated in 1923'... They would today have a good chunk of the Turkish Coast (Smyrna - now, Izmir) but they got cocky, change of leaders, and tried to take much more including Istanbul/Constantinople. Attaturk defeated them and there was mass deportation of Greeks from Turkey and visa versa.

Looking forward to Lesvos, a Greek island I have very little exposure to. It was my guess a year or two ago when you asked for guesses on where you were going next in Greece. I was just a little early.
