Which Ear Trumpet Labs Microphone Is Right For You? 

After a phone consultation with owner/chief engineer, Philip Graham, back in Summer of 2015 about which mic would suit the two guitar two voice duo I play in, we opted for Louise. That summer we were the opener for an up and coming Darlingside in Chico, CA. During the show, they (Don Mitchell) commented on how much cooler the opening act's mic was than theirs. Less than a month later, Darlingside also had Louise and now has numerous different Ear Trumpet Labs mics, notably several Edwina's and an Evelyn if I recall correctly. Six plus years later, my duo is still using and love playing with Louise. She still sounds crisp and clear and we often get comments about the quality of our sound with Louise. I am considering adding Myrtle to the mix as well. I should also say, working with Philip and his daughter, Malachi was a nice and memorable experience. How often can you call a company and get their owner, (a kind and decent human being by the way) on the phone to help see if their products are right for you? I can't highly enough recommend Ear Trumpet Labs and their products that have performed with consistency, longevity, and tasteful style.

A friend of mine brought the "Louise" to a gig where we wanted to do single mic, traditional bluegrass style show. It performed exceptionally well, zero feedback trouble and everyone at both venues said you could hear each musician clear as a bell. I just bought my own. Now I'm looking at the Chantelle.....

This was helpful. I'll probably go with the Josephine since I like the look and have heard great results with the Louise. I primarily play acoustic guitar instrumentals, but I tend to move around a little so I think it will be a better chance than a closer range mic

Hi! I’ve just asked my friend to place an order for a Josephine for me. Can’t wait to get my hands on her. I just revisited this video and really wonder. Did you record the sound in this video with only the Edwina (I suppose) on your left hand side or you have some ambient mics set also. If it’s only the Edwina, the sound I hear in this video is just unbelievably out of this world. Thanks

Quick question….I have the Edwina, and when hooked up through my Bose L1 PA systems phantom power, I really need to dial up the trim and gain unusually high (3 o’clock) just to get reasonable volume, and this creates quite a bit of hiss…does this sound typical??? Looking for guidance

Depending on the room, our four-piece bluegrass band (guitar, bass, mando, banjo) uses the Louise. Sometimes we add a 57 as a wing mic in case someone doesn't need to crowd around the Louise for a song and just wants their own mic and some space. The problem with a 57 though is that it really needs to be in the right place for each instrument and you really have to get up on it, which makes it tough to share if, for example, the mando and banjo might want to hang out and share the wing mic while the guitar and bass player use the Louise. Seems like the Edwina might be a better option than the SM57. How do they work with two instruments sharing it and, when taking a lead, one leaning into it and the other pulling back? Would the gain required to do that be detrimental to the sound or a feedback concern?

Hi, I’ve recently bought a Myrtle and I am delighted with it. I intend to use it live, for vocals and acoustic guitar, with a compact battery powered PA of some sort and I wondered about possible feedback issues. Would it be ok for example in front of a Bose L1, or something similar? I just wondered if you could offer any advice for a simple, portable live set up with Myrtle. Many thanks, Phil

Would you recommend to set up 2 off these mics if you big acoustic band, around 7 8 musicians. I already have access to a Edwina model.

Man, we really need one of these amazing mics for our livestreams. Too bad they are almost a thousand dollars. If anyone has a suggestion for a microphone thats as good but cheaper please let us know.

What is the spring suspension for. Does it make a difference in sound between myrtle and Delphina?
