Which engine is BEST for tuners, swaps and mods?! 

My favorite is v6 or v8

The underrated D16 for cheap mods and easy to build to 300hp in a 2200lb body. The Detroit Diesel V8 for the longevity and sound.

@@natthaphonnoble7946 If you're referring to the new J30 turbo in the TLX & MDX Type S, yeah, you could fit it. With time, resources, and money, you can do any build you want. But, that motor is not a crate engine right now, so kinda have to buy one of the cars to get it. With the market, that's like $70k+, then to swap it in and make everything fit and work blah blah blah, at least, at least another $20k. So for that, I'd just buy the TLX type s if you want that motor and power. Or boost your current motor, the J35 does great with superchargers and even fully built NA. It all comes down to time, resources, and money.

I got a j37 MDX engine for free.. but it’s got a dead cylinder 1 lol

I got a 98 accord v6, took out the stock j30 and swapped in the 01-02 mdx j35a3 with a 6spd lsd CL-S trans… with the basic intake, headers, and 3in exhaust piping to dual exhaust, I’ve manage 13.3 at 108mph. On stock CL-S ecu and crappy China made tires. I’ve gotten tired of that so I built my own turbo kit, built the engine, slapped on a haltech 2500 elite ecu, and now it’s pushing 535whp at 12psi… neck breaker.. Jseries power!! I still have my oem high compression longblock sitting in the garage.. the 13sec one.. First all motor built I’ve spent $2k.. junkyard parts and hand down parts and upgrade parts. Second built cost me roughly cost to $10k.. ecu, turbo, dif engine, engine parts.. Labor cost sweat, blood, and girlfriends bank account..

Even better is the LV3, which is a 2014+ LS-based version of the same idea.

@@A77738 compare the price to anything he just listed on here and yea that is? 700$ motor that can do 420 wheel easily with just a turbo upgrade. Small and light weight so it can fit almost any vehicle. My comment still stands.

Put in 5 different mass produced vehicles which makes parts cheap af to add to that.. Makes it very slept on...

@lscansir cured I had a daily drive 5 years with 500bhp and stock internals... the title said " best for tuners, swaps and mods.. granted there's not many 4G63's with over 2000bhp .but they do exist and usually nothing much touches them!check RU-vid 👍

A few things; 1. Higher torque does not always mean more power. Power is calculated using work (torque) x time (rpms). A car can make very little torque, like a B16 Civic, but still make ok power. Conversely, some old tractor motors make like 24 horsepower, but well into the 200ftlbs of torque. 2. No, engine stress comes from a lot of different factors. Heat is one of the biggest. In *general* a motor that turns higher RPMs will produce more heat (more friction, more explosions, less time to dissipate the heat) but that's not the entire picture. 3. Should you buy an i4t or a v6? It depends entirely on what you want to do with it. Modern turbocharged cars are very efficient and last a long time. Modern v6 cars are also very efficient and last a long time. The limiting factor is usually the rest of the car.
