I respect you for not trying to force yourself to make the content you didn't want to with TFT. Compared to your TFT content, I can really feel your passion for FaB. Just being up front, I think you'll be making the right decision by sticking to something you enjoy, regardless of its viability as "algorithm-favored" RU-vid content. I know nothing about FaB... But I'm excited to start learning!
I've played a lot of TCGs. Started with Magic in the late 90s and have tried just about everything along the way. Flesh and Blood is one of the few games I've ever played that didn't feel like "Magic but . . ." Basically every other game is trying to "solve" perceived problems with Magic despite the things they are trying to fix are a huge reason why the game is so popular and has endured for forever. Flesh and Blood is doing it's own thing entirely and that's why it stands out so well and a huge reason why I was drawn in. I already play and love Magic, I don't want to play "Magic but", I want to play a different game.
Same here, love Magic, but also love that FaB is just a completely different game. Also love that there's a draft format, which is unfortunately not universal amongst TCGs. Unfortunately local support for it isn't great right now and also I don't have the most money to invest into the game so I'm stuck to just kitchen table play and Talishar.
(Cardfight) Vanguard is quite different from Magic too, but sadly it's got a very small scene in the West :') being Asian though, there's plenty of enough players over here.
@@Sercotani great to finally see some Vanguard representation! It was such a jarring experience being an Asian kid and everyone of your classmates bringing a deck or two to school only to move to Canada where not a single soul in a 1000-mile radius has even heard of it. It's such a shame that MtG and Pokemon hold most of the Western TCG space, give some more attention to the little guys! You might like what you see :>
Seconds in and already throwing shade at Bravo, tht's how you know its gonna be a good vid. In all seriousness I'm surprised this is the first video I've seen on this subject since figuring it out when I started was really tough.
Watched this when you went through it on twitch, great video! The powerpoint made it a lot easier to follow. I'd love to see further deep dives into how to play the different heroes/classes and maybe a high-level overview of how to get started trying to compete in FAB and the different events.
Thanks for this. As a new player everyone says "pick a hero you like" Well that doesn't help. I know FaB has a steep learning curve, I definitely don't want to jump into a complicated hero. Thanks for the break down on the difficulty level and defense/aggression. Definitely helps me make a better choice.
I live in a small town where my playergroup only plays mtg commander. But last week everyone got a blitz deck(i picked briar) ,so far we been having a blast trying to mastering a New game and discovering their favorites classes, i preorder a mistveil set to try enigma
One of the best intro videos! I noticed a lot of people teaching the game to new players get way too into the details. This was just the right amount of info in a really entertaining format!
You can play digitally on talishar, and there are some communities who do online tournaments on it, but the true competitive scene is in person and as declared by lss, always will be
There's a digital version called Talishar, it's not "official", but you can build decks out of whatever cards you want and try them out to figure out what cards/class/hero that you'd like to go for! Free too!
I wished more ppl made content like this. My fiancé and I have been playing this game for the past 3 years but I don't play as often as he does and when I do I never know what to play. We live in small town in Arkansas so our one local we have is an hour one way. He is great at the game it just sucks bc he doesn't get a lot of opportunities that most do. He is super competitive. I'm getting off topic here but he thrives on great content. Thank you for this. This will surely help me.
I played a bit on TTS with my friend, but dropped it because I didn’t have anyone else to play with. Super glad you mentioned the pre-release, because the LGS I got to for YGO was hosting one this weekend. Excited to go, thanks for that!
We need more fab content like this! As a mechanologist main, I think exodia-type decks are the intended archetypes for mech: Teklo has Singularity, Maxx has Nitro Mechanoid, and Dash has pistol items.
Speaking from the perspective of a FaB player very new to the game, this was a great watch! Really nice breakdown of the current CC heroes and the general game plan of all the archetypes. Thank you for making this vid!
As a LGS owner F&B gives out the best promo package, hands on support. Great price point. Super easy onboarding, on top of a great game. Bonus points because you get to talk to kiwis with there bad ass accents.
Been curious about Flesh and Blood for a while and a friend gave me a nudge to check it out. It looks really cool and from my understanding if the rules, it seems to play a bit like a fighting game crossed with some RPG PvP such a cool concept. You even get to pick your "main" like a fighting game too. Sounds like the best kept secret in TCGs not many tak about it lol
Hey, a thing! I've been trying to play some different classes, so this is exactly what I've needed. Haven't watched the video yet, but I'm fascinated by Assassin and want to hear your take.
Got into TCG again bc of you and LoR and then got into One Piece and been sticking to that to scratch my itch. I think I'll try and get into FaB even though there doesn't seem to be much of a scene in my area like there is for OP (have almost every LGS host locals and maybe one for FaB) bc you make it seem fun!
Thank for making this to help explain FaB to the new ppl out there. I hope to see some nuu faces out there at our pre-releases! Long live Flesh and Blood!
When I started looking into FAB about a year ago, it seemed to me that the wizard/illusionist class was just going to win every time. It is like blue/white control vs red deck wins in MTG. If they get established passed turn 4 and have any life game, control wins. I haven’t played much except with some blitz precons but plan on getting further into it. This video is great. Thanks.
One thing for teklo with singularity, with the new arcane barrier evo helmet boost is probably a viable option because itll let you return an action card to your deck. Will be cool to see what comes from being able to be more agressive and recover singularity when you need it. Also love the olympia moment rofl
Arakni isn't easy to master. You have to have an understanding of every other hero in the game, their threats, what their plan is into you, and how to disrupt that. You can argue that everyone needs to know that, but it's most relevant in Arakni when you're given information about the top of your opponent's deck. Their ability is incredibly slept on, because it doesn't provide an apparent, quantifiable reward. It's something that rewards you next cycle, when you've set up for the threats you've bottomed, and it gives you the time to deal with the opponent before they can use those threats meaningfully. Arakni is also one of the best defensive decks in the game, not because they can block better than everyone else (although all their cards block 3), they function better on 1 card hands better than anyone else, which makes them great at blocking 9, sending 4.
Yeah, they're definitely a lot harder to master than this video would suggest. Keeping track of your opponent's pitch stack is critical to playing Arakni optimally, and that's Very Hard. I agree that Arakni can play a very rich and solid defensive game, certainly has some of the better 1-2 card hands out of the cast of heroes. That being said, until they get a significant amount of greater support, we're unlikely to see what Arakni mastery truly looks like, because, objectively, they just aren't worth mastering to that level at the moment due to how underpowered they are. Kinda sad, but that's the truth of the matter. tldr: I'd say with the video's rankings, I'd put Arakni at a 2/4/2/4/1
I got into magic about 2 years ago and have been struggling to play it due to the fact that EVERYONE only wants to play commander. I mainly like to play modern and standard, and the scenes for those formats are super small compared to commander where I live. Been pretty interested in flesh and blood since I like the art and style of the game, I went today and bought a booster box of the outsiders set. I’m looking forward to playing soon!
A bit of a correction about levia: Shadow runeblade cards tend to be playable from banish, shadow brute cards are usually very strong, above rate attacks, that have blood debt and require to banish random cards from your graveyard, so you slowly get a bigger pile of blood debt damage in your banish, making it super important to turn it off from levia's ability.
There are a couple cards that let you play things from exile, or can be played from exile, but it's not often and not enough to keep your blood debt low
Started playing FaB with OG Dash and I agree with everything you said. Mech equipment is kinda doodoo at the moment. We've got Foundry Heart and Achilles Accelerator, but that's honestly it.
As someone who wants to dabble into FAB but is hard walled by the exorbitant pricing of staples, how should I go about when trying out this game? Of course, Talishar exists, but then if I keep only to Talishar, that means half of the Pros you said in the introduction wouldn't apply to me (Prizing, competitive events etc.) So as a new player guide: 1. What should be my priority when starting out in this game? 2. Do I invest into the staples immediately or try playing "budget" decks first, even if it means being slapped around in armories? 3. Which Heroes are relatively inexpensive but still be "competitive"?
Nice video, I like the sub-breakdown for every hero, too often I see this type of intro content only attempt a very broad pigeonholing of "Guardians do X and Warriors do Y and Mechanologists do Z " which feels a bit misleading
Hard disagree on Vynsett, when you consider how much you have to think every single action in order to even compete with other decks, how punishing any mistake can be on your overall damage output and how easily you can counter her just by pushing damages that makes it super hard to survive and have decent turns, I would say it is at least a 5 difficulty to begin, a 4 to master, and its power level is 2 at best, at least pre-Mistveil... Otherwise, love the video, pretty unbiased even though your love for Wizard is showing, and I think it's really cool for new players, I'll share it around
You should really check out Lorcana. The prizing in that game is insane. As you get through T-128 T-64 etc each level you get more exclusive promo's. The T8 one is worth over 10k alone. Plus winner gets full foil set worth another 5k+. Old Magic pros are cleaning up.
As a new player Ive found Azalea WAYYYYYY easier than riptide. If you just go tall you win some matchups very easily. Where as Riptide feels like he gets decimated by so many MUs. Loved the video, I may pick up Wizard :3
@@MajiinBae I guess I was thinking in terms of “easier to win = easier to play” lol. I can fumble through Azalea games and win. Not riptide. Idk, makes it feel “harder” in a way. Semantics I spose.
I'm also wondering if you could do an affordable class guide. What are the more affordable classes to get into with, warrior? Runeblade (not)? Or others? Love the vid!
Usually classes are divided between: high generics numbers (high cost, but usually on cards that are easily re-sellable or playable in other decks) or highly specialized (usually talented heroes play a bunch of cards that are only playable in their specific deck. A good example for that is vynnsett, which despite being a runeblade and full of majestic rarity cards, play close to 0 pricey generic cards, so the deck is on the lower end). A hero can be specialized in many ways, for example the 3 new mechanologists play very different cards, and few generics due to boost). There are exceptions to this rule (katsu plays a good number of generics but most of his equipments are super affordable, levia is very specialized but has like 6 legendaries in the deck + brute class card which right now cost a lot) Best budget classes/decks: Ninja (fai, katsu. Probably zen but we'll see) Mech (dash io, og dash, teklo and maxx) Vynnsett Boltyn There are probably other decks but these are the ones that came up to me rn
so i just recently got into flesh and blood, and the first pack i got were 2 blitz decks from the heavy hitters was able to get Kayo (first one i actually played and i love him) and Olympia, i have yet to use knuckleheads ability, just cause theres a 1/3 chance its going to actually go well but im having a crap tone of fun with kayo, (i got 4 others, betsy, kassai, victor(the young one cause blitz) and rhinar) I know hardly anything about the different sets, but im liking heavy hitters lmao
