For MANY players (over 9,000 players currently sitting at level 49!), heck almost @everyone who watches this channel, the choice between G4 Epics is a difficult one. Do you get one of the level 50 ships in Star Trek Fleet Command or should you skip them? Well let's discuss the Pros and cons! Pros: Really strong ships! Cons? COST!

You should skipp all the g4 epics and get a g5 uncommon. With the faction you spend on bps for a g4 epic, you can get 2 g5 uncommons.

@@Schoder66 I have 2x G5 ships, an unc and a rare both at tier 5 and it still says "Claim the Borg Data Node Tier 8 from the refinery after upgrading the Tribune, USS Enterprise-A, or Hegh'ta to Tier 4. Reaching a requirement for any future Borg Data Node will also grant this resource." Not sure what the next requirement is but would be nice to skip it.

I started planning to get the Tribune when I got to ops 42. I decided that I would skip the Newton and pick up the Pilum and Korinar to use as my 46 ships. That saved me a lot of 4* ship parts and mats so that when I finally got the Tribune I was able to take it to T9 on day 1 without additional spending. Planning a head for what you want will save you a lot of headache.

Thanks for putting this video as this has been talked about some recently on some of your streams. I will skip the Tribune so I can save credits for g5 ships, maybe I can pick up later one day to collect it, but 1 mil faction credits still takes a while collect even with voyager stuff.

The Tribune is truly amazing, by tier 6 the ship ability more than doubles your total damage. The ship ability is what makes the ship and can not be overstated, you're given direct access to one of the biggest damage variables in the game with plenty of room to abuse the system to squeeze more damage out. I have a maxed Neelix and Tyler, I can back to back solo 6 level 52 G5 uncommon armadas without any buffs. With Picard+Bev+Tyler I can go into level 60 freebooter space and complete dailies taking less damage and having a way cheaper repair bill than the Corvus.

Yep, you take a G5 uncommon and I'll take the Tribune. The Tribune is twice the cost of a G5 uncommon, but I only pay that cost ONE time. The repair cost of a G5 uncommon is 10 times that of the Tribune, and you will be paying that over and over and over again. With the Tribune's ship ability to add 5 shots PER WEAPON at T12, I'll be pushing 50 shots in round 2 alone with Carol and 60 shots in round 2 alone with ST Laan. The Tribune will take ships twice it's power. You showed it in the video. Have fun with those repairs. I know I will.

I saved faction creds and away teams for an Ent A. While I remain undecided if it was worth the faction credits, it really added to my alliance armadas contribution (Kelvin was my flagship prior). Furthermore, it has been great for rep grinding. Ultimately it brings me joy and that's what I find important to stay happy and engaged in STFC. Thanks for the video, Rev

Might pick one up as a collector's item at some point. I skipped them . Went to 53 with only a pilum and got a corvus and Northcutt.

I have a T10 Pilum that is keeping me going at Level 52. I'm pushing to 53 to get one of the uncommon ships, or maybe 2. I have enough credits for a Northcutt and closing in on the Corvus. Plus, the 5* epic chests are so much better and I've been getting a decent amount of ship BPs each pull.

thanks for the ideas Rev. playing on server 178 i´m currently on lvl 45 (non spender with the exception of additional build and research lanes) and going for the korinar shipparts at the awayteam shop. always heapy if there are ships that i can eventualy skip. greatings from germany

The benefit of a G4 epic is to get G5 striking power for G4 repair costs. G5 uncommon ships usually see (depending on research) repair costs of a billion tritanium or so after daily grinding. If you can't afford that, and don't have ambitions towards hitting higher in the 50's, a G4 Epic might work, though a good G4 Rare like the Pilum is better value If you can afford that (and you do get more daily through chests, dailies, the Monaveen, etc. as you get above 50), and you're looking to go much beyond 53, then a G5 uncommon works better and has a higher "ceiling" for upgrades. And you can buy a pair of Novas (or a Nova and a G5 Uncommon) for less than a single G4 epic would cost.

I build my Tribune when i was 50 and Skip the 53 uncommon go direct to 56 sanctus. In that days My though was you the uncommon has to less warp rang to cover up G5 area. But the rare g5 can. My g5 resource I full invested in Building to get quick to 56. Uncommon g5 will slow your progress. You have to bring it at less to tier 6 because of the cube. But tier up g4 ships in in 50+ cost you only g4 mats. You don't need it anymore if you pass 50. Only for some research. The cube G4 epic bring two tier 8 + 9 where the cube get more and more usefull. With voyager tailos and cube the uncommen g5 is more and more skippedable. Is my opinion. I will build epic g5 Enterprise D and Roteran for Wave Defiance. The uncommon g5 is to expensive for repair. You need the Sigma resource.

We talk about wanting more game stability, updates to events and changes to many of Stfc’s in game loops. However, if Scopely reduced some of the faction credit costs for some of these ships as well as an adjustment to ship parts, free to plays might consider moving up in ops level to get closer to the premium areas. “That would mean more money for you now Scopely, and going forward”

I'm ops 50 now (pushed the button for a spend event.) Going slow on buildings, not pushing up again until I have the Tribune I've wanted since they entered the game. I have the ship parts to get to t4 right away, and may have enough for t5 by the time I get the last 100 or so bps....I also already have all my Nova prints so she's ready to go when I get there....Didn't spend a single Rom credit on them....

i'm ops 49 and i'm collecting my faction credits for vorcha and novas. But in the same time i'm taking heghta bps from ATA store everyday) i know its a long road and i will be okay without this ship, but i want it for collection. I didnt skip any of klingon ships since D3 and want to save this little tradition)

At lvl 49 my kelvin is doing me just fine, and I still have a load of research to do to make it even stronger… as I don’t do PvP I’ll skip all else until I can get a northcut - even got a few BP, from grinding already! (No idea where mind as wasn’t paying attention when I pulled the cheats lol)

As far as crits go - i already have some players that I deal 0 damage crits to. They've spend so much on the PVP primes and FT that i do more damage to them without crits than with crits. (yes, they're like high 50s/60s and I was a 39 at the time - but I still got a good laugh)

I am a level 45 with a maxed Voyager for ops. Since I have to wait to get to ops 50 to upgrade it again should I focus on stockpiling parts for quick upgrade at 50 or go to the borg systems and stock up on message's? Sadly was 2 shards short of getting Neelix to level 15..

time #5:25 hi @revDeuce when going ops51 and further we all unlock G5 Chests, there we can do pull for uncommon daily and rare/epic every 3 days = lots Faction credits awaiting there for us all.. we have to do...armadas.. with the Team. ( oooh.. and bp ships and uncommon stuff.. #spoiler alert) i'm ops54 and all gets better organised ...way more LOOT. greetings all from Belgium

I would rather max out the rare G4 then faction grind. The issue is rev. Is scope is sorta screwing the bigger players. How come the Feshia grows with you meaning G4 and G5 parts drop. But the voyager and the pulls for DS9 ie Bajoran armada pulls its based on lvl and takes away G4 parts. Those should be put into those pulls. Especially for higher ups such as myself. For scrapping.

In the long run you should go for a G4 epic ship an max it. It‘s not mandatory for entering g5 economy, but will be very helpful maxing a G5 Epic ship (scrap the g4 epic). At the moment G5 epic ship (at least t10) is mandatory for entering the G6 economy.

it always felt to me, that scopely switched the ship ability of the enterprise A with the normal enterprise. it just seems odd, that all those ships at 34 gain weapon damage but the ent gains shield regeneration: and then you look at the 50s. tribune more shots, heghtah more crit... enterprise A... weapondamage. 🤔

my short answer is: none. rather get the 46 ship to a higher tier and shoot for a 52 ship which are way cheaper (at least in faction credits) and way more powerful compared to the 4 star epics

Depends on style of gameplay. I’m Ops49 and still rocking just Valdore (T7) and Kelvin (T7). I have completed every mission in G4 space and have completed all non-faction missions in G5 space up to needing the main question mission “Interlude” at end of Ops51. I don’t PvP, so there is zero reason for me to invest in any ships until the uncommon G5 ships.

@@RevDeuce I’m dual locked at 1bil champion with feds and roms. And getting very close to 1bil with Klingons. I have all the speciality ships maxed to my Ops. And I did it all by only spending $20/mo on battlepass plus the $100 whenever a new special arc ship is released.

I think the G4 Epics are at a difficult spot. They are awesome ships but at a bad place in the game. F2P should ignore them in favor of a G5 Unc Warship and a Nova while light spenders will might be able to afford them but they push through the point where they have big value to them too fast. I started working on my Ent-A at ops49 but only got it 2 weeks ago at ops55. I have a Vorcha and Talios which do the Job my Ent-A would do and for Armadas the loot ability on the Pilum helps me more as I can’t punch higher till I have the Sanctus and can defeat the 60 Dreadnoughts reliable which I can’t right now neither with Ent-A nor Pilum.

One thing which you kind of touched on but didn't dive into too much is how long would it realistically take the average player to level up to 53? In that time frame would it be worthwhile/just plain fun to get one of the epics?

Really don't get it when people say the 50's is pain. I found it to be way fun then the 40's. The 40's were boring and mindless, the 50's is way more lively, almost feels like I'm back in the 30's (f2p)😊 due to the new rewards even spining on the daily slb's is worth it again. As for the epic factionships. I'd skip all g3 and g4 these days. Even the higher ops uncommons quickly outpreform them in multiple ways and you don't even need the firepower at your ops due to specialty ships like Talios, Voyager and to a lesser extent Monaveen/Defiant being useful for both your daily grind and their desired specialty functions. Heck even if we talking PvP, now that I'm in the 50's, I'd totally pick Talios over any other ship I got. Only use my Pilum still has is rep grinding at low trit cost or as 3th ship in a solo armada.

You are not forced. You can skip and just get the 53s and progress if you want.

Scopely does not really believe in "balancing" things. I mean the only time they really did that was with the G3 Epics and that took quite a while before they got around to it.

Dont forget, once these was the biggest ships in the game... after ruined with 5* ships... actualy all 5* an under totaly useless agsinst 6* :D I have EntA, not bad, but have double powrred Northcutt... At op55, need bigger ships than any 4*.

I am sitting at lvl 48; so every lvl 50 plus player I have spoken with (in my alliance and outside) says to skip these they are a waste of time and resources. They are toooo expensive for what you get.

I'm sitting at 49 and will be for the next several months at least. The Tribune's ability is intriguing to me so I'm (slowly) working my way towards that. I'm also a collector so I'm also pursuing the Hegh'ta, but more slowly. Been spending the last several months really pursuing them, especially after finding out about the armada directive farming technique from Blue, so right now I'm: 135/650 for the Hegh'ta and 215/650 for the Tribune. Now that I'm ops-locked for the Talios I'm able to pour Borg grind loot into faction credits, have faction messages out the wazoo, and am near-maxing the Away Teams missions for faction credits. Also 35/150 towards a Nova too. Plan/goal is to earn enough BPs for at least one Nova (preferably two) and have at least a Tribune ready to go before I go 50+. Slow and steady is the order of the day; I'm in no rush and in the meantime I'm slowly grinding away at all the research I have left at my level. Already completed all I can in the Outlaw tree.

Not much info in here for higher level players. I guess Cath and tLaan won't work on 51+ hostiles, and the refines are crazy expensive. I won't be doing a double chest at ops 56 with a Quv at tier 4.

The G4 Epics are vanity projects. Once you have finished all your researches that need mat4, then maybe. But the G5uc ships will completely outclass a T12 G4e ship.

i skipped all 3 of the 4* epics. The 5* Uncommons were better value for me at 150 BPS to unlock and smokes the 4* Epic even at low levels.

None of these ships are even a glimmer in my eye for at least two years. Heck they don't even show up as an option in my game. 😂

my research is going great at lvl 45 my ships are mainly 3million off of urs but the klingons is maybe 4million off so i got 4 more lvls worth of reserach to do to catch up to u!

Getting 4 star uncommon broken parts is mind numbing takes forever to tier up ships they need to change this or more people will get fed up and leave the game the disparity between whales and ftp is ridiculous

I'm 52 now, skip those ships and spend the resources on building upgrades and research. The price vs reward for these ships is very poor.

Absolutely no point to getting a 50 ship. 46 ships work right up to the first g5 ships. Pointless and costly to get them where you could just go to something that's long term useful

I just scrapped a t11 tribune. I kinda regretted getting it 1 or 2 month later as push to 53 was shorter than expected. I had a pillum prior and it was serviceable and could easily take you to 53. I'd I had a redo, I'd go ent a vs trib.
