I know this commet is A LITTLE late but I want to tell you about something that happened while doing this "trick". I was doing this trick for some friends of mine and I already found the coin a few times but we were not standing up, we were sitting at a table. One of my friends brought the coin behind his back and brought back his fists, but I couldn't figure out where it was, so I said "you dropped it on the chair". It was actually what he had done and his reaction was pretty hilarious :)
When you mentioned annoying your family all I could remember was that one month where I made my dad, mom, brother, literally anyone who would do it, put anywhere from 1 to 10 cards in my hand and I'd try to guess by weight alone how many were there. I got really good and the concept was I'd be able to go, feels like two 10s and a five in my head. This would mean that I could simply know the order of the deck, turn around let them deal cards onto the table and then take the discard after and be able to know their card. It didn't work very well, I'm still learning and getting better I think it'll be a great trick eventually. Just wanted to share that with a couple people, I'm not good at keeping secrets.
I tried it on my mom and she was exited because at the end I told her how I did it and I never tell her when I do a good trick on her so she was really happy and then she went and did it to some people at her work and it worked
not many people wear watches these days, so I came up with another way to do the same effect, requires a little more setup though. Add a bit of double sided tape or one of those sticky dot things to your duplicate coin, and when you grab their hands, load it onto the back of their hand, take the other coin and tell them to leave their hands out and palm up, when you say the coin is in their hand, they look down confused and say "no, on the back of your hand" .... its a bit weird because it has something sticky on it, but still...
Great stuff Chris! I sometimes would do the opposite where I use some sleight of hand while having the spectator guess which hand it's in using classic palm and then doing the final by asking them to time how long I take to vanish the coin after dupe loading. I like this idea as it removes the whole aspect of simly fooling the spectator and instead immerse them more into the routine.
Ugh. Tested this out on my wife, did three tries with the crossover the last one. Got them all wrong. Tried again an hour later, got the first two wrong and then did the crossover, and decided to do the opposite of what I would normally do (seeing as how I was 0-5). Did that, and got it wrong again.
it is a color temp change they did. If yo notice that the background and his cap and the wire is all an 'off' blue tint to the white. So yes he has pretty blue eyes, but they really emphasize it.
when i was doing it, i just one more way to find out where the coin is. when the spectator brings the arms out, you should look on the eye. you want know why ? It's because one of the eye its getting bigger same direction as the coin is 10 times worked like 8
Chris! Amazing video buddy! I just have a question: What do you do when they look away when doing this? EDIT: Crossed arms unfortunately worked less often than that it didn't work, as people are often more comfortable putting their dominant hand on top
This trick kinda reminds me of Cross Out by Jay Sankey. Neither really involve any "real" magic, but use psychology instead, and have a slight risk (since you can get it wrong). Sankey also encourages the performer to explain the trick to the spectator, and usually, they find the method even more interesting than the actual trick.
I went out and did this and the guy I did it on says “how did you do that” and I used one of your methods and said can you keep a secret he says yes I’m like so can I(I ended up showing him though)
Didn't know the cross thing. Tnx! Btw: I've done this five times in a row, that's enough. Everybody will be impressed especially if you explain some probabilities. Another easy fallback I used is to ask a question they can answer using only their heads, but they can lie if they want. Is it in your right hand? is in the left? When they nod yes, look at the nose then.
hey Chris i would like to see how you are making mental tutorials like this one where you are in barber's shop and you put cork in one of the spectators hand and the other one was with close eyes and feel the same thing in his empty fist i would like to see something like that i guess its mental i dont know..
hi chris...i wanna tell you that i tried this thing...but both the EYE TWITCH and CROSS ARMS method failed....that too 3 times in a row....and i think that i did everything properly
Adter 30 or 40 attemps with diffrent people i was able to do it correctly. Verbal miss direction makes them to twitch a little bit . And it really helps.
From the teaching of how and why to use this effect as a means to divert attention away from more precious methods that layman may inquiry myself about, this method has further increased my street performance. Also I started street performing with music and later with divination mostly tarot readings so when ppl ask if magic is real I simply explain all of existence is an illusion and if they want a more spiritual experience I offer a tarot reading(mind you I have much experience with divination so I get very accurate personal divinations/psychic readings) but trust me anyone can do it, thanks Chris for this valuable method of display and explaination!
this is not an insult but out of 5 times, 2 times the hand went above with the coin. But the nose angle always worked. And a subtle way to check the nose angle is by drawing a line from the nose and say your 'building a connection'
It doesn't always work. People are different. But that actually speaks about your personality a bit. For example when crossing my arms, I always put my left hand under my right hand. I don't care what is in it or not.
Not sure how often this happens in life but I noticed in the examples that the hand the coin is in is always ever so slightly held lower than the empty hand
I was actually looking for this. While watching a video about chess hustlers where if the ches piece is in theeft or right hand. And im searchung slight of hand and run into this vid. Great stuff man. Some people think tutorials are bad but honestly the ones who find these videos are the ones who do the magic which grows future magicians. New sub here. Ive learned good slight of hand basics woth coins but this one seems cool ill try it when i can
Often it helps to look which hand has the geater pressure. Most of the people try to press the hand together where the coin is. It works! In school my teacher had a present and we started with 30 guys to get it. the had a coin and mixed it behind this back. Only using this and his other body language I won.
Can you please make more Videos about Psychological tricks I`m very interested in these topic and you can explain it so easy and funny at the same time
hey Chris. love your videos, I just did this to my girlfriend.. I actually paused the video to try I was so excited. first I thought there is no way I will notice her eye twitch like you showed us when slowing it down... I just watched her eyes and it was ever so slight but so noticeable and I got it right instantly... love it, cheers man!
Hey Chris, Im a big fan, like you are one of my tops (if not the highest) favorites magician. So thanks a lot for all your videos. Also went are you planig to upload a video in your gaming channel?? Thanks again.
I have seen you do many versions of this. I absolutely love it, for me it is a HG! ONE QUESTION ... in the video you told two of the spectators, "Usually put it in their left hand, I don't want to influence you but normally people put it in their left hand." One did & one didn't, does saying that make the first read more obvious?
There's another way to find a coin. You can ask someone to raise the hand that they have the coin in whilst your back is turned. Once they show you the coin it will be the more pale hand as the blood will have flown out of the hand.
Did it to my girl and blew her mind away, love your channel and you got great content, also got my self some white lions to mess around with and learn some tricks
HAHA just tried this! So the first time, I caught the eyes and sure enough, they didn't lie. Second time, I didn't notice her turn her head at all but while looking at her nose I noticed she had a naturally angled nose. This made me die of laughter but only in my head of course. I went with the direction of her naturally pointed nose and got it right. Now the THIRD time was the best. I asked her to cross her arms imminently and she pauses.... "what?" she goes. (In my head i'm telling myself WOOOOWWW this one already failed) I repeated myself... she then folds her arms against her chest XD I was so done! I got this one wrong trying to pick the one underneath but I mean if you cross your own arms while holding fists, you're tucking them both away as if to "hide" them so it made sense. But it was super fun/funny, thanks for that laugh Chris ;) Keep up the good work!
