I know it's off topic but I have a question. I have the Discover It Cash Back for students, I am new to the world of credit and now in August my first year of credit was completed. I have a very good FICO percentage. What credit card would you recommend to apply as a second tier? I have thought about Capital One SavorOne or else Citi Custom Cash (but I am afraid that Citi will deny it to me for having only 1 year of credit length history) I would like to know your opinion and advice on how I could continue climbing card levels with a plan. And what card would you recommend applying at this stage I'm in? I will appreciate your help. The Chase Freedom Unlimited also catches my attention, but I think that applying for that card would be an automatic rejection because I should have at least more than two years of credit history or am I wrong? PS: I'm a college student, I don't really have much income to be realistic.

Hi Kiven,  thanks for reaching out! Of the cards you mentioned I personally like the Chase Freedom Unlimited credit card as it has the best cash back earning potential (in my opinion).  Although it worth taking in to account which card will benefit you the most in terms benefits, perks and where you can earn the most cash back (or points).   Now for all of these cards you mentioned it Is best to have a credit score of at least 690 or higher, so if your credit score is lower than this its probably not worth apply just yet. Also, I would recommend that you have some form of income if that is at all possible? as that will help if you do apply.  In terms of a plan going forward I would recommend that you focus on is being consistent with your payments (and never miss one if possible).  Also, try to avoid ever getting a cash advance as it can end up just costing you a lot of money and cause problems in the future. Keep an eye on your what your credit utilization is and make sure it stays below 30%, this will help to increase your credit score.   I would not worry too much about getting more credit cards until you know you can comfortably acquire them with out too much worry.   I hope this helps out a bit?!

I have the Earner+ and the Business version. I would prefer to just have one, but Earner+ gets promos, it is a decent backup to the Amex Gold, and we get 4X on our timeshare, which the business version gives 0X.

do you have to be a business owner to apply for the business card?

Not necessarily, if you make money independently you may be able to apply for a business credit card. This could be anything such as being a freelancer, Uber driver, selling on eBay or Amazon. I hope this helps!
