Well I mean the plywood itself is just held together with glue between the layers anyway.

While they are thin plies, it didn't look like the separation was along the glue joint between plies. I would have been surprised if either the factory glue between plies or his glue joint between the two pieces of plywood failed cleanly. I've dismantled many old cabinets and furniture, and the wood (plywood, softwood, or hardwood) always fails but never right along a glue line. 👍🇺🇸

Most likely it will, I do carpentry for a living, working primarily with hard woods like oak and walnut, and as long as the correct prep work is done, the wood will always break before the bonded glue. Absolutely crazy stuff

I worked with Sika for like 4 years at my old job, making sure that power supply cases that were meant for outside use were waterproof. when new people came and tried to use it without the primer because they thought it would make their job easier, it would be really obvious when like 50% of them wouldn't get through the water test. Then they had to completely clean the cases which was absolute hell because that stuff is though and quite resistant to cutting and reapply the sika properly. That happened maybe 2 times and after that they learned to use the primer :)

@Bacnow
@Bacnow 5 лет назад
Intelligent Unite - Different fasteners for different applications! If building a home then screws and nails are the definitely the superior solution! If building non-weight bearing furniture then glues/epoxy may be the superior solution! Most current (quality) outdoor rated glues would probably struggle to make it past a few years in a very wet climate. However, keep in mind, that many boats utilize glue/epoxy and have not failed in decades! A good glue/epoxy can last 50-75 yrs in the right environment! Typically in a glued wood-to-wood bond, you can’t even pry the pieces apart (at the joint) with a chisel!
