A quick note about Amanda. The reason why she rigs the traps is because she doesn't want anyone else to escape and become an apprentice. She is too jealous to let that happen. This is her way to steal as much attention as possible from her father figure. Therefore, I don't think she would spare anyone. She would more than likely go the extra way to make sure the survivor dies. Like shooting someone in the head, even though they are read, just to make sure.

I disagree to some extent with The Clown. In the official DBD lore he did spare Benedict Baker. "The Clown surveyed its new surrounding and its gaze lit on me. A rictus split its face in two and it nodded at me before returning to the caravan. I suspect that it prefers its victims to be less aware than I, and I thanked the stars for that.''

Nurse killed the patients because they were too sickly to deserve life, in her view. Thus, if you survived a trial without ever getting injured, she’d probably decide you’re truly healthy and thus deserving of life. On the other hand, Wesker might spare a knowledgeable survivor on the condition they meet up later outside of the trial and plan some kind of escape from the realm. Vitorio and Jonah in particular seem viable for this.

For my own head canon, I really want to believe that Carmina (the artist) sparks the humanity within Evan (the trapper) him seeing her art pieces within the trial sparking that joy for art Evan once had before it was squashed out by his father. Seeing the beauty in her paintings, & particularly if Trapper was ever able to see her Iri add on "Garden of Rot" which shows Carmina herself with a growing darkness within her. A path that Evan had himself the good squashed by a growing darkness. That Evan would leave art pieces for her to see. Im not saying a romance but perhaps a friendship where Evan would look around the trials for her art just to try to interpret how Carmina is feeling through her art.

The thing about Freddy (at least the original and not the remake) is that he clearly isn't completely unreasonable. If you managed to convince him that you are of more use to him alive than dead, he would probably leave you alone so long as you are still useful in some way. And the fact that he probably doesn't enjoy the Entity limiting his powers just makes him more likely to rebel against the Entity and it's wishes.

Xenomoprh Queen has potential to spare survivors She has an incredibly high IQ, and can understand bargains. In several comics, she has made deals with people. For example, if one survivor didn't want to die, and would rat out the others for her: she would likely spare them for their servitude.

The Hag's called The Hag not because she's an 'old woman' but because she represents a fantasy hag, an old crone, a witch. Also, I had to admit, the entire video clip with Deathslinger opening a locker because a survivor told him too and there was nothing there was hilarious.

In defense of Myers, he did spare an infant and two kids that bumped into him.

I would personally bump Oni up to the "small chance he might spare you" category. There is an anecdote within the Tome 17 lore pages where he purposefully spares a teenager despite the boy stabbing him in the leg and calling him an oni to his face. It's implied that he does so because he's impressed by the boy's bravery and also because the boy himself wasn't one of the men pretending to be something he wasn't. Oni's entire thing is very specifically about being a slave to his own anger, certainly, but if he's _not_ angry with you then he leaves you alone. He leaves witnesses to his brutal killings alone for one thing (because they're farmers who also don't pretend to be samurai), and in the Tome 17 lore he's also described as having something of a friend in another man who kind of eggs him on into attacking a foreign trade ship. He's also notably one of the killers that does have glowing white eyes. They're usually obscured by his standard mask, but if you equip certain cosmetics that reveal parts of his face you're able to see them. They're not as bright as the Deathslinger's white eyes but, if we're putting stock into the theory that killers with white eyes are being deceived or manipulated by the Entity, then it's likely he's one of the killers who sees the survivors as something they're not. Mostly likely, he sees them as the disarmed guards of the lord he murdered, the lord himself (with the mori capping that off with ripping a tongue out), men who pretend to be samurai, or perhaps as one of the many villagers who mobbed him after he murdered their lord. Obviously he's still monstrous, but I feel like there _is_ a chance he might spare someone if they somehow impress him. Or if his vision is somehow unclouded temporarily.

1. I think Pinhead belongs in small chance. Allowing a survivor to think they have his mercy and then killing them on top of the Hatch must be such a dark temptation to him. Hope ripped away. Pain and pleasure intertwined in a way like no other. You'd have to endure absolute rock bottom in order for him to spare you imo. Like three DCs and four gens unrepaired lol. 2. In Aliens, the Queen understood that Ripley was threatening her eggs with the flamethrower and did command her guards to back off. I think if a survivor put their flashlight or firecracker on the ground before Xenomorph, something that it knows is a weapon, MAYBE that would work as a bargaining chip. To the Queen at least. 11:28 That's impossible, he was going to kill her after killing the executives but he couldn't because of the Entity, it took them both just when he was about to kill her. If he finds Yun-Jin in the realm, he would definitely want to kill her more than any other survivor. I think I agree more with your second argument: He's more likely (and funny) to spare the lives of survivors who don't have an "interesting" scream. But I actually think he would also kill them because it's his job and he has to do it, but he would probably kill them in a less brutal and faster way (because he has less interest in them).

Albert Wesker had spared Jill before the events of RE5 as well as leave people on the ground after beating them up such as Claire and Chris when he gets bored and distracted by something else. If you can prove yourself worthy of his attention, it can be both good or bad depending on how you do so as he did personally recruit Rebecca after acknowledging her smarts. He also knows how to kill quickly and cleanly which makes his shot against Rebecca in RE1 seem more of a way to incapacitate her for later than kill her on the spot. Amanda Young is certainly a troubled person, but she struggles to outright kill people in a cruel manner seeing how she went back to Adam who was left for a slow death by Jigsaw to mercy kill him from the torture. She works herself up to kill Eric Matthews after he insulted her and Jigsaw, but ended up just leaving him on the ground for him to be collected for confinement. The rigged traps against Troy and Kerry have been hinted at being Hoffman's doing alongside his blackmail letter that made her snap and ultimately die with her shooting Lynn and getting shot by Jeff because of such. Sadako Yamamura is another complicated character in that she did personally put the survival clause into the tape so that people would know how to handle her curse, but it was sabotaged by the group of kids in the cabin who tried to record a sports game onto it iirc. Ryuji was able to briefly commune with the dead Sadako and relay the clause to Reiko after his death to save Yoichi. She also spares Yoichi and Mai Takano in Ringu 2 near the end. There's also a lighthearted manga that came out called "Sadako-san and Sadako-chan" where her vegeful spirit ends up befriending a Sadako child and takes up streaming as a hobby with them.

I think Charlotte would spare the survivors if she doesn’t feel threatened by them. She’s a survivor at heart, and in the lore she only attacks people who have hurt her first. I think she might see the survivors as members of the black veil, as I’m not sure why else she would attack them if they don’t hurt her or victor. Maybe it’s because she feels threatened by being in the enclosed space of the trials, or maybe she wants to loot them for things and food. I’m not sure.

About Trickster: In the new rift there's a cosmetic (The bat, I think) that says Trickster didn't kill someone because of the way the person sang, or something along those lines. Imagine working through you life aiming to be a singer, only for it to save you because of how awful you sound lul

The unknown would 100% spare a survivor purely because it increases his power- if you believe he gains power from the rumors spread, if everyone dies that’s no rumors to be spread, I also think Knight and oni would spare survivors if they put up fight, a survivor sees somone in trouble and fights the oni- despite his power, that’s honor- that’s the code of the samurai, they may not be a “true” samurai but they have the honor of one same with knight- he hates hypocrisy, and if he heard a survivor say they hate the killer and want to fight back- and then do it, he may spare them because unlike most survivors they aren’t a coward

Wesker and skullmerchant would either team up as they see themselves as better; or throw hands because they think they’re better than the other and would want to prove themselves better to the other. Wesker could also just blow her off cause he doesn’t feel the need to prove himself to someone inferior, which would lead skull merchant to attacking him and them fighting

demogorgons do have emotions as shown in season 2 of stranger things, although the only person they spared was dustin because he raised that demogorgon when it was a baby

I reckon Chucky would eventually be sympathetic, he recognises Nick Cage and during the movies he mainly tries avoiding killing people who aren’t in his way, I think there is a very strong possibility that if he saw a survivor that never stunned or blinded him and they were injured opening the gates he’d pretend to not see them

maybe worth noting that in season 2 of stranger things, dustin imprints on a baby demogorgon, who later spares him. So demogorgons are probably most comparable to wild animals, though i don't know how a survivor would bond with the demogorgon

Tier list idea. Base it off how much damage each mori does to its victim. So Pig at the bottom with a stab in the grand and slash in the throat, and then Dredge and Unknown at the top.

Elliot Spencer is still within Pinhead, though the means to bring him back out are not likely to be available within the realm. In one of the movies he is turned back into Elliot simply by being reminded of himself and his memories, while in another movie Pinhead was split into two individuals, one being Elliot and one being Pinhead, though they were remerged later on. In the comics he has been returned to human form as well a couple times.

All Legion Members - Jeff, they where proprably friends Tarhos (the Knigh) maybe not sparring but maybe ignoring everyone if Vittorio is in his Trial Or Sparring only vittorio, just to repeat the stuff that happend in both past Huntress - when a female survivor looks too young to her maybe Amanda/Pig - after what she learns, when a survivor fights back and want to life

I think Wesker would have spared Chris in the past (up to RE5) because the way he always tries to convince Chris to see "reason" or to join him let me think that Wesker sees potential in Chris. During RE5 it's hard to tell if Wesker still tries or if he finally realized that Chris will not join him or let him do his plans, so he tries to kill him. Another survivor Wesker might occasionally spare is Rebecca. I don't really know why he had a picture of her hidden deeply inside his desk at RPD, but there has to be... SOME reason, however messed up it might be.

There's a bit in the Malevolence tome where Ghost Face decides not to kill a guy he'd be stalking for a good while, because he got slightly distracted by a newspaper after breaking into the house, and decided that it wasn't professional enough to continue the murder after his emotions interfered with the scheme. He even hides in a pantry while the victim almost detects him, and Ghostie prays desperately for him to not open the door, because he does not want to kill him at all unless it goes exactly as intended. The newspaper in question was from a group of to-be copycats that Ghostie thought disgraced the reputations of several serial killers, to include himself, by writing about them in a parodical way. He hated them so much for disrespecting the "legends" that he looked up to, that he ended up losing his composure and killing them all when he was supposed to just be doing reconnaissance. Ghostie really takes his image seriously. At the slightest going that it wasn't going to be a perfect design, he aborted a kill that he'd been planning for probably weeks. But during the creation of the next design, he was so overwhelmed by indignation that he disregarded his image for just a moment and killed three guys, one of whom he stabbed around a hundred times in the face, without even wearing his mask.

I think Oni would should compassion if it were shown to him. Not likely he would do it first, so it would be have to be over time of showing him compassion before he would at least decide not to bring harm to you.

By the way. Michael does not kill children (sometimes) unless they are a part of his family tree. Also in TTCM2 Leatherface spares the DJ Stretch due to her being pretty. However when she breaks into the families underground amusement park, That does seem to change.

Pinhead isn't under the Entity's control, instead answering to Leviathan if he answers to anyone. His decisions about killing or sparing would be based on that, not the Entity's desires. Survivors that like or enjoy the Entity's Realm, such as David, Bill and Sable, would be hunted mercilessly. They want the suffering, after all. But Survivors who just want to escape and never wanted to be here, like Dwight, Claudette and the RE characters, he would be inclined to let go. He sums it up in the second movie: "It is not hands that call us, it is DESIRE."

I would think Susie and Joey from the legion would sometimes spare a survivor, given how Susie didn't want to kill the store clerk and (as far as I know) Joey didn't trust Frank. Perhaps Susie is reminded of the store clerk with certain survivors, while other survivors remind Joey about his past qnd why he didn't trust Frank(Perhaps the survivor who was released at the same time as The Legion).

See - the Pig I see as completely unwilling to spare anyone. This is for one simple reason - her entire character in the Saw series. She goes from being fair with the traps and going with Jigsaw's idea to literally spare the son of the cop that caused: her false arrest, drug addiction, and why she was tested by John Kramer in the first place. She could have easily gotten Xaivar to kill the cop's son multiple times in Saw 2, on video, as he was also arrested via false evidence via that same cop. But she didn't do either of those option - she let the son live, and took her (in my opinion, completely just) revenge by locking up said cop in the original Saw bathroom after he failed his test by beating the heck out of John Kramer rather than just watch the tape and let his son be found in a literal safe. It ends at the end of Saw 3 where she literally is confronted by her mentor and denounces his ideals completely by saying ,"No one ever F*cking changes!" That is literally right before she tries to shoot the cop that performed surgery on John to save his life under threat of the Shotgun Collar killing her otherwise. After that, she gets shot. She also purposefully messed with the Angel Trap to make it completely unbeatable. Considering that trap literally is an updated version of the Blood Eagle Execution method - this is likely one of the top 5 worst Saw traps to die to by pure pain level possible. Detective Kerry should have won that trap, but instead, gets a death at least as horrible as the Rack trap, (which is literally one of John Kramer's personal favorite traps), because Amanda messed with the lock! So, I imagine Amanda (i.e. the Pig) being more likely to kill survivor (especially cops and detectives) compared to literally almost any other character (with the exceptions of the AI guy and our multiple Sci-Fi monsters) I actually see Ghost-Face as more willing to spare a survivor to purposely mess their heads on purpose and make them feel guilty any time they have to see the other survivors. This would also help out the Entity via creating all that anger at Ghost-Face and the guilt towards themselves for not saving other survivors.

I would give Nemesis a "small chance" to spare survivors instead of "unlikely." Nemesis wants to kill STARS members and really that's his only directive. He'll kill anything between him and his target, but he wouldn't go out of his way to target someone who isn't a priority. Afaik the Entity just drags him into the fog instead of altering his mind/perception, right?

Well Leatherface did actually spare a victim once. In the second movie (canon to the first) he spared Stretch. Tho his brothers did later catch her, he himself did not participate in the killing, he just let it slide. So if one of the female survivors plays the same cards that stretch did, without his brothers around he may spare them. I am pretty sure he doesn't understand the entity (i mean learning to speak was too hard for him)

I think Susie would initially however over time her darker nature would get the better of her. When she's clearly allowed to kill without consequence? Yeah, that's going nowhere good. Joey would kill initially but only on the threat of what would happen to the other three if he refused. However he'd need to constantly be conditioned because once he saw that the other three are no longer the people he thought the were, he would have no reason to kill and even for self preservation he would refuse. He would also be smart enough to figure out that the entity needs the other three so concludes it's an empty threat. This would likely result in being sent to the void or being repurposed as a survivor.

Fun Fact, in The original Benedict Baker text for the Pig he hid in a locker and saw her and she was going to his locker until she heard a noise and walked away giving the locker one last look as if she knew he as in there but was giving him a second chance.

I'd say Charlotte would be in the "unlikely" category. Not out of cruelty or inhumanity, but love. Since the Entity allowed her to reunite with Victor (even if he is just an artificial recreation) I'd guess that she'd at the same time feel a strong sense of loyalty towards the it, as well as fear of having Victor taken away if she's too defiant.

This may be an incorrect take since I haven’t seen the hellraiser movies, but pinhead doesn’t seem evil. I only think he kills because the survivors are forced to interact with the cube, otherwise he has no reason to do anything. I believe he could also leave if he wanted to, as he is seen to have extreme control of spatial abilities in the trial. I think if anything he’s the true definition of a neutral character in this list

If we’re going with the narrative that the brainwashed killers no longer see their enemies (ie azarov) i think slinger should be higher. he’s one of my favorites for the humanity shown in his lore, i think if he could break through the “entity vision” he’d be a lot more merciful

the Cenobites aren´t really cruel, they´re just Leviathan´s "tools" summoned by the box and they kill more likely just offering sacrifices to Leviathan (pretty much like The Entity), so I think any Cenobite has quite a high chance of sparing someone under specific conditions or depending of Leviathan´s will

I think nemesis will more likely to spare especially when he is primarily programmed to hunt star members. He'll kill when he considered them getting out of his way but in the movies and debatable in games he been shown ignoring humans because he prioritze star memebers.

As a legion main (mainly Susie) I tend to spare survivors who're too cute or after convinced them they have lost and no way of winning (if the last one or two choose to give up). If they want to keep working against me then I'll play that game too. I'm usually really nice compared to most other "killer mains" in my experience and can goof around and vibe. When I play Julie or occasionally Frank it's usually when I'm not in the mood to spare anyone. Not to be mean but to play the killer role as intended. As Julie, If I get my 4k I'll take it. As Joey I usually have the same mindset as when I play Julie or Frank but I don't mind sparing anyone if they give up.

Basically killers are very friendly sometimes if they’re in a good mood, of course no toxic Business

I think pinhead would spare the most survivors. If they die, they forget about all the suffering they experienced. This cannot be allowed.

The dredge is drawn to people like those in the garden of joy it would likely not chase a survivor who feels good about being in the realm since it senses what people feel.

I can see Pyramid head sparing somebody. In the Silent Hill lore he was mostly a tormentor who seemingly guided people to the truth of what they did. Just like he did in Silent Hill 2 with James Sunderland. He was a manifestation of James's mind wanting to be punished for what he did, then he stopped once the truth was revealed.
