Didn't finish watching the video but I wanna say thanks for making these, they are super helpful to new players and I can see they take a lot of effort to make :)
"The color abuses trigger units, which means turning your life into a slot machine and punishing your opponent for playing the game." I love the passive aggression that almost every OP player feels towards yellow 😂
I just put a bunch of money into packs to try to learn. I feel like yellow and black are the coolest to me. Reducing your opponents cost on cards to remove or Ko them was really cool to me. Yellow I didn’t understand at first looking at the cards. “If your life is less than 1 draw a card” but then I realized. Vegapunk only has 2 life and all the egg head cards play around with your life total. Definitely one of the ones I wanna learn to play first
These videos helped immensely when I just started, so It's pretty cool watching this now and totally understanding everything. I used RP Law when I first started, but have moved to playing OP04 Queen mainly, with some Vegapunk for fun now.. Stacking life, Healing, & triggers with Yellow is by far my favorite way of playing the game now~
coming from a yugioh background, seeing this games prices where the TOP deck is 300 €/$, and that being on the expensive side of things is wild to me, especially with the black/yellow luffy deck i'm planning on buying being pretty much all inside a preconstructed structure deck
Arent Yugioh deck prices okay right now?(except stuff like Dragon Magia right now). Build my last decks around 5-6 years ago and there it was okay with some rarity changes in boosters and reprints if i recall it correct.
I just got into One Piece TCG about a month ago, and I've been loving the game! With my Katakuri Deck, I went to a local last week with my buds and went 2-2, so I was happy for that and I can't wait for more Big Mom support in the Yellow/Purple Pudding as well as the new Katakuri starter Deck in a couple of months 👍 Speaking of Big Mom, I would LOVE to see your take on the yellow Charlotte Linlin Deck profile. While obviously not as strong as Katakuri, Linlin herself is pretty fun to mess around with haha.
Another amazing piece and exactly what attracted me to you in the first place. Looking forward to Kyros... The deck i wanted to play the most before i experienced what a dumpster fire it is.
This is a fantastic video. I wish Belo Betty had gotten a shoutout under either New Player picks or Monkey Recommends. Shes my personal favorite deck in one piece (as a very fun aggro option), but more than that she is probably the cheapest deck in the game, with solid meta potential clocking in at around $30-$40 The downsides here are that she's very skill testing for both players (making her less ideal for newer players) and she is luck based.
The reason I can't play black is because my locals is after a 10 hour shift, Im far too tired to play hard combo decks, i feel blue and purple very easy and fun to play
Really just got into One Piece today, so this has been extremely helpful. I will try the Zoro and Sanji deck with warlord engine you mentioned because it seems alot of fun. Thanks for the recommendations bro!
My main deck is arlong, and honestly he is good now thanks to a the support of op6 and 7, I made him more fishman centered and put some other good cards in there like kikinojo and he is great, the first tourney I won was with the fishman Arlong himself
My girlfriend bought the UTA deck (ST11) and our score now is 28-4. That UTA deck is annoying, with just 7 don, spawning 3 cards, unlimited blockers, refresh attacks, unlimited draws. Plus, an EVENT COUNTER +6000. Really hard to beat. Mannnnn. I play ST03/ST14 by the way.
The trick to beating uta is removal. It doesn't matter how big their hand is if they can't leverage it into anything. For st03. I reccomend picking up the cards gravity blade and red roc. I hope this helps
@@MonkeyFightTCG I appreciate your reply! I need other blue cards for the Blue Crocodile deck to be viable. I have some success with Black Luffy Leader (ST14) when I play 8C Luffy, life gets easier. I am waiting for the new booster packs and hope I get to build a better deck. Keep posting videos. I watch them and they are very informative to new players like us.
You also should get the 10c kaido that sends 1 8c and a 3c to hand. Paired with croc effect. You can remove an 8c a 5c and a 3c. Sure they can play them back down but they will spend the turn dealing with that and you got a 12k on board
This video was super informative, I've been playing the game casual for awhile and I'm wanting to try making the next step to improving and I'm hoping some of the info in this video will help
I think you could have mentioned Nami deck. It is probably the cheapest deck to build but it is very situational and also hard to learn but that alt win condition is awesome.
Another weird deck that I highly recommend is Blue Yellow Ace. The deck is this bizarre mix of midrange and stall. You mostly want to be abusing all the cards that take cards off the top of your life (makino, flampe, hiyori, 6 drop Newgate, kid Luffy and Ace, as well as some tech options like 7 drop shanks) and then you just fill the rest of the deck with 5 cost characters to hit off of leader effect. The deck is nowhere near solved and could benefit a lot from more people taking a look at it. Also Purple Yellow Croc can be built very cheaply, just don't play bon clays aces or katakuris and the deck is like $50.
i wanted to say the same about blue yellow ace too.... i just started playing one piece recently and tbh you have 90% of the deck after getting the 3 brothers package twice, the obly expensive cards are hiyori and yellow luffy.... but there are decent substitutes for them
It's really good and has a few different builds. But really all you're trying to do is to ramp to 9-10 don and start dropping top end. If you can afford the pieces for it it's not bad. It does lose hard to quite a few match ups though so I recommend testing it online first.
I started playing less than a month ago. And bought the 3 brothers starter. And also decided to play sabo yellow/red on my first deck to play/learn the game with.
Thank you very much. I‘m a mtg veteran and am quite intrigued by the luffy combo deck - you said you didn‘t recommend for new players, but do you think a mtg vet could play still? I‘m extremely familiar with many card games
@@RamyASMRI agree there. If you’re willing to buy Mh3 for 10$ a pop. One piece I’d definitely much more affordable. The only issue I have Walmart sells packs for like 4-6$. A local shop in my rural town sells them for 6$ Any city 2-4 hours out sells any pack from any set for 11-20$ It’s freaking insane. Makes the game harder to access. And not to mention half the one piece cards unless you hit alts or parallel foils. Every card is literally one cent.
New player here willing to drop some money on a competitive deck. Really debating between Katakuri, Lucci, or Bonney. What are the prices for each and which should I get?
For prices check either tcgplayer.com or cardmarket if you're in Europe. Lucci is the best competivly and is the strongest of those options going into next set. It's a very aggro removal deck. You might be able to pick up katakuri now for cheap. Know the deck is very luck based. Bonney is also good competitively. But it's more stall and stun based. It might be cheaper than rob Lucci depending. It comes down to playstyle. There's an unofficial online simulator for one piece I recomend trying out decks there first If you're conflicted
Hey thanks for the video, im new to the OP Card game and want to build my first deck! I really like the purpel Luffy deck but why isnt luffy himself in the deck list? Is there a reason or am i blind?
I like him a lot and he's not bad. But his unique skills aren't great and he feels directly worse than perona. Maybe with the new navy support he'll get better.
@@MonkeyFightTCG I can understand that, I only bring him up because even though the leader Sakazuki has returned with a new promo, he's just so bad it's not even worth using him anymore as Issho basically does everything better now and being able to restand blockers imo is strong. I wanted to play GR Oden but as you said it has problems with consistency and a death sentence if you never see Hiyori.
As someone who mains her, id say so. The deck is beyond cheap (like $40 to build) and can keep up with most of the meta reasonably well, it just takes a lot of practice since it plays so differently than everything else. You will also draw ire from other players who dont like playing against her, but dont let that deter you
Personally I dislike playing against nami. But it is a solid deck that's cheap. Just know it's not playing the game normally as it's an alt win con leader.
Today I played around 15 games with BY Ace and just won 1 game. Then just for "fun" I played Enel. Never read the cards or knew anything about the leader. I've instantly won 2 games. This is ridiculous.
Well blue yellow ace takes a lot of work to build and even more skill to pilot. I've known friends who have seen success with that deck. I recommend finding other groups and sharing knowledge or testing to find the optimal way to play the deck. I know you can do it.
A deck is not just meta cards thrown together. Like you can't just take out meta cards and throw them into another deck and make it meta. It's entirely with how you build it.
it's a shame that even "budget" decks end up being around 100 dollars. this just isn't feasible as an introduction point for new players. local game stores don't play on starter deck/structure deck power levels either so you're SOL if you don't have anyone new jumping into the game with you. cardboard really shouldn't cost this much
Law as of now is not the best deck in the format. It is inconsistent and can be starved very easily. Op08 law is another story. Lucci and enel are the top dogs, the east does not like to play yellow as much as here.
I'd still recomend it, the gameplay is fun, back and forth, and the balance is really solid. Plus Bandai does take actions to listen to the playerbase. Even if slowly.
@@MonkeyFightTCG that's good to know, but I'm just not a fan of One Piece's artstyle. Looking at the cards is gonna be more of a challenge than winning the games, lol
For starter decks. I grabbed Uta and zoro sanji before I started getting packs. The Uta deck seems to have very good synergy between the cards where as I haven’t looked as much at zoro sanji.
I’m disappointed to hear Enel is meta because I wanted to build him when I saw the card as a brand new player lmao. Well I guess I’ll make a garbage deck instead
@@MonkeyFightTCG Haven't actually seen deck building guides for other TGCs focus this much on which is cheaper or more expensive. It's sad on multiple levels
No most games have way higher barriers to entry. The average yugioh deck is $800. Mth varies but it's around that price point for most formats outside of standard. Which has the additional issues of cards being rotated out of the game forcing you to buy new one. Other card games are all quite bad, and have been rising in price. Idk where you got your info from but it's not honest to say that those games are cheap.
