I wanna give YOU a special shout out Jon! Thx to YOU, (& seeing you using the 4s 2700 smart packs in ur night timber x), i bought 2 to finally get my x's CG back where i wanted it. NOW, i can 3d it like i want to!👍👋👋👋👋👋
The X-fly? Send me one and I'll check it out! I'm sure it'll fly similar to the 64mm, there's probably not too many differences aside from things like flaps.
@@TwoBrosRC Yes, the X-Fly, spell check got me. It's a 4S plane and priced at just over $200 No flaps, gear nor rudders, but build quality is very nice.
I have an xfly, it is great quality, but if you're okay with no retracts then it's the most affordable at the 64mm edf range that can really fly with ease. they do sell an improved front nose wheel with spring oleos.. but the stock one is already solid
Jon this is a perfect video for me today. I had the 64mm and liked it but crashed it (to low upside down). Was thinking about the 70mm or V2 Arctic but I think I'm going to get another 64mm. It is so fast, takes off and lands great, looks good in the air and longer flight times, which I'm all about.
Definitely go with the 64mm. If I YT gave me the ability to edit videos afterward, I'd explain why I hate the 70mm. I ended up intentionally wrecking it later after it crashed because it wasn't worth repairing. You can see all of the reasons why you should avoid the 70mm V1 here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3dFzDQHxK5Y.html V2 is supposed to be OK though.
@@TwoBrosRC oh wow, I just watched that final flight of the A-10 70mm. You were sure killing it with that inverted high alpha. But the first crash looked very minor but too much damage. The second intentional suicide crash was epic. I'll definitely stay away from that model now.
I'm glad you see my point of view on it - I had so many complaints about that upload, like I'm supposed to donate a problem to someone else so they can suffer? No thanks, I'll just re-use the parts in a new project.
Pardon my ignorance but I've been flying RC for many years and I have never heard of the acronym CRO, if that is what you were commenting on, over and over. Very nice flying and explanations BTW. Thanks.
Crow - it's not an acronym, it's shorthand for upward aileron reflex with flap deployment. Crow causes the root of the wing to stall before the tip of the wing, which allows your jet to fly at a higher critical AoA without stalling. It's super useful.
@@f86fman None of what I wrote is vetted by an aerodynamicist but is gleaned through research and testing in real-world applications, and from observing how full scale aircraft use similar approaches to prevent stalling at higher AoA. :)
16:20! I agree 1000% on gaming! Im 57, & EVERY day i play 2 hours on PS4, 'BroForce'. (Cant win. Its made that way 🤯!). BUT, ppl laugh when i tell them how to keep ur reflexes at top notch! Without a doubt, it helps me! BUT, how many controllers have YOU destroyed Jon? 😜🤪😁🤓😎😄
Im trying to get into rc planes and I want the A-10 as my first since it’s my favorite plane. Unfortunately I am painfully obsessed with the moody A-10 nose paint and I can’t get anything A-10 related if it isn’t a moody A-10. Can you help me out here?
It looks like they use the shark mouth graphics. The FMS A-10 v1 comes with that stock, or you can talk to Callie Graphics and see if you can get your own ordered from her.
For a beginner I'd recommend a high wing propeller trainer like an AeroScout. Jets are easy to crash - unless you're really familiar with radio-controlled flight, I'd start with a prop or jet trainer and move up to the jet you're interested in.
The Eflite a-10 was my 3rd edf (ArrowsRC Marlin and the Eflite Viper 70mm were my start in jets) I still remember on the maiden of the a-10 saying “This is easier to fly and land than the Marlin and the Viper!” The a-10 became the Go-To/Every Time Out EDF. With that said, I had to replace the nose gear pin twice and the entire nose gear assembly once. (Also broke the nose off 5 or 6 times) But that’s on 100+ flights on a really crummy short asphalt runway. I liked the Eflite a-10 so much I bought the Freewing 80mm 12s and over the winter got the Eflite a-10 version 2. I’m thinking there’s something about the wing load, dual rudders and the twin engines that makes the a-10 fun to fly and easy to land. Just checked the FMS 70mm and it’s back ordered. I’d love to get one. Did you post a video on adding crow to it? Good video comparing the two Jon.
It has a flight controller? I can't imagine it being much different than AS3X. If you're used to how it flies already and are happy with it, there's really no need for crow. I just prefer having it so I can keep a nose up attitude and modulate the descent with throttle.
@@TwoBrosRC I’m never happy with my landings. There’s a place I take the big a-10 that’s a grass field about a 1/2 long. I’d fly there more, but it 2 hours away. I land well when the landing strip is 1/2 mile x 1/8 mile wide…. (I should’ve gotten into RC helicopters and boats)
I have owned both the 64mm e flight and now the 70mm FMS v2 with reflex. and I can very confidently say the FMS is hands Down the best A-10 of the 2 and the wings have a quick disconnect system that makes it very transportable!!! 1 downside though is fms claims u can fit 2 3300 batteries' but sadly there is no way to get them in the jet. 4500 and 5000 fit great! and give you 3.30- and 4-min flight time I think a 6000 Mit fit.
Having flown both, the 64mm beats the 70mm hands down - at least the first version. The second version no doubt still has the squirrelly tracking on the ground which I really hate. I'm not sure I'd get another one. The 64mm is pretty great and can perform inverted high alpha about as good as the 70mm did.
@@TwoBrosRC the v2 70mm is not at all squirrelly on the ground! at least mine is not. on the 64 I hate the glue together tail and on landing if you cut the power to much it loses elevator authority and will noses in and turns into a bounce mess if you're not carefully.
Our format has changed significantly since this video posted. If you're curious, here's an example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vukYu9Sumo0.html
I'm on the fence, EF A-10 2x64m Warthog II or EF Viper 90mm? 🤔 But this comparison is apples to oranges. The FMS A-10 has a WS of 1500mm (59.1in), and the EF A-10 Warthog II has a WS of 45.2 inches (1149mm). So, they're going to fly quite differently, but similar if that makes sense. The smaller twin 64mm EF is going to be nimbler by default. ITE -- the EF twin 64mm looks like more fun, just saying.
@@TwoBrosRC You've convinced me. $430 64mm vs $650 70mm from HH. But it'll be a blast. I'm a Spectrum guy, so the Reflex Functions setup looks very similar to SAFE and AS3X.
@@davidgerlach1132 If you want to consider supporting what we do here, pick up the 70mm A-10 from bit.ly/FMSA10. It's a huge help at no additional cost to yourself. If you'd prefer to pick it up on Horizon's site and it's in stock, let us know and we can get you a link for that too.
Fun fact: the price of the 80mm FW A-10 is in the same ballpark as what I paid for both of these models combined. It'll be something I look into in the future for sure though. Definitely want to compare the 70mm FMS to the 80mm FW.
